"I came here to explore. Otherwise I don't have anything to report on. I'm more then willing to cooperate with you..but I fear my usefulness won't be that big without a weapon..or some armor. But I will join you if you if you continue on...somewhere from the back..but still I will there to lend my help to what ever you will face."
Standard Pregen |
Hans nods.
"We would not expect you to do any more than that."
Once the man is on his feet, Hans will lead the way back out to the staircase, on to the next level...
Assuming everyone is happy with that, of course :-)
Revvy Bitterleaf |
You guy ain't even going to give him one of the clubs or javelins from one the troglodytes? ;)
Hans leads the way up the staircase, the next level seems to be the top of the tower
The four wings of the tower are completely open on this level, forming one great, cross-shaped chamber with arched ceilings. The decayed remnants of a carpet run from the doorways at the end of each wing, meeting in the center, where a spiral staircase drops out of sight below. A large, throne-like chair stands in the middle of the eastern wing next to a big chest.
Behind the throne is a albino crocodile and standing in the archway looking out is a troglodyte, on his side hangs a scimitar and he's wearing a cloak.

Zhoron Moonmist |
Zhoron delays until after Lukaas (in case he will be inspiring courage). Then takes position (and aim) to also attack the barbarian's target.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Hans charges forward and chops the head of the crocodile
Zhoron mistaken Balenar's singing for Lukaas's (Going to assume you wouldn't want to delay since your already inspired with courage) moves forward and aims his bow at the troglodyte (since the crocodile is dead already, I'd assume you'd switch) but his arrow bounces of the throne.
Lukaas then moves forward to get the troglodyte within range of his spell and tries to befuddle the troglodytes mind for a bit
will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 but the silvery ball just bounces of the creatures mind.

As Shoris ceases waving the candle around, a small evil-looking snake appears underneath Hans' feet and slithers towards the troglodyte. As it reaches its prey, the snake becomes brighter. It bites at the troglodyte.
The monster summoned by my spell last round is a fiendish viper. It's Tiny, so it has to move into the troglodyte's space.

Nikias Stormwell |
Nikias runs across the room, slides out onto the balcony and releases a orb of energy at the

Acid Spray(Ranged touch): 1d20 + 1 + 1 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 1 + 1 - 4 - 4 = 111d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
I assume our barbarian acts as soft cover for the enemy?
Revvy Bitterleaf |
The viper rolls around a bit trying to get under the troglodyte, but the troglodyte takes a swing at it with it's fiery blade.
To hit viper's touch AC: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Fire damage for Fiendish viper: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
He manages to hit the viper, but finds out that the mean looking glowing red eyed viper doesn't take that much damage from his fiery blade
In return the viper manages to hit the troglodyte in an ankle
I am kind of wondering how your tiny viper manages to have a positive strength score btw the viper you summon has a str of 4, it gains +4 from your augmented summon feat..for a total of 8, so unless I'm mistaken it should do 1d2-1 damage? I think you are using the druid animal companion stats for your viper (which is small)?
Fort save vs poison: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 But it doesn't seem to manage to get any poison into the troglodyte.
Hans steps forward and misses with a wide swing at the troglodyte, almost over extending himself.
Zhoron moves to the southern door 1d100 ⇒ 77 and opens it without any problems.
Shooting through someone, enemy or ally counts indeed as shooting through cover
Nikias tries to hit the troglodyte with some acid, and even with Hans standing in the way manages to hit, it burns away part of the troglodtes face...dropping him..he half hangs over the railing unmoving.
@Shoris, Summon monster took your entire last turn..but this turn when it finished you still get your normal turn
Out of combat
What do you guys want to do now?
(The troglodyte is carrying his cloak, a masterwork scimitar and 4 darts)
Revvy Bitterleaf |
As Zhoron walks over to the chest, the floor of the tower he is standing on starts to creak...and he can see cracks forming in the tiles.
It's most likely a good idea to not keep standing here for too long.
The chest contains:
masterwork short sword, 15 cold iron shurikens, two flasks of acid, a potion, another potion of lesser restoration, a wand,an amethyst worth and 247 gp in assorted coins.
Standard Pregen |
Hans nods appreciatively.
"A decent haul."
When he sees the tiles cracking under Zhoron's feet, Hans thinks about how he was even *further* out on the edge, and goes a little pale, backing up towards the stair-well.
"Shall we head back downstairs, and check the first level that we bypassed earlier?"
Shoris |
Shoris sighs deeply. "I support the idea of going downstairs, but we might want to take a rest if we can find a defensible position. I've used almost all my magical ability for today."
Nikias Stormwell |
"Aye, I'm feeling the strain as well, though I should be good for another fight or two if need be. Perhaps that want could be of use if identified." Taking a look at the wand and a detect magic spell aiding him in the process, Nikias attempts to determine its properties if any.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Shoris |
"I have a few acid darts left, but after they're gone I'll just have my crossbow...and (fair warning) I'm probably almost as dangerous to you all as the enemy with it." Shoris smiles wanly. In any case, if I'm to be useful in any more combat today, I'll need a clear path to our opponent.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Nikias finds out that it is a wand of summon monster I (caster lvl 3)
Where do you want to now?
As far as I can tell there's 2 options:
Go to the 3th floor (the area next to room 8) and lower yourself down to the floor below which smells like bat guano
Go to the 1st floor and climb down to the ground and explore there
Zhoron Moonmist |
I always like to clear entire area, just in case there is anything valuable that might be missed, but I'm fine with skipping bats, as long as we check out 1st lvl.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
You all go down to the first floor and climb down the rope until you reach the ground. Looking into the SW room you see it's completely blocked by rubble. The only option you have is the NE room.
When you look in;
The northern wing of the tower seems to have escaped the worst effects of the collapse, but rubble still litters the floor and everything is covered in a thick layer of stone dust. Thick cobwebs cloak the ceiling and hang down the walls like gossamer tapestries. A single archway stands open in the southwest wall.
Standard Pregen |
Hans eyes the cobwebs suspiciously.
"That's a lot of webbing... Hmmm... maybe the bats would have been a better choice..."
Shrugging his shoulders, he moves into the room to explore it.
'Take 20' Perception = 24.
Shoris |
As Hans moves forward into the room, Shoris taps him on the shoulder. Wait a minute before you rush in there, Hans. Does anyone have a torch?
Assuming somebody pulls out a torch, I cast prestidigitation and and guide the torch so that it will burn the cobwebs.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
While Hans is peering in it takes some time for his eyes to adjust to the darkness within the room.
As soon as some light from a torch appear Hans is able to make out the outline of a giant spider the size of a large dog..It's staring right back at you.
@Shoris..I think you mean mage hand..prestidigitation can't move something that size
