Professor Yamino, with Goran's help manages to fend off the disease the first day. The second day it resurges dealing 3 Con and 3 Cha damage. You can swear you saw the Professor pluck some sprouts from his arm.

Besides the Professor's help, the trip back to Katapesh is uneventful. People have many questions for the strange talking doll, but she keeps quiet.

Katapesh is a large city. Certainly you can find a cleric or two who can try to magically remove the disease. They do ask for a donation, however...

The Professor can spend 1 PP or 150 GP to hire a cleric to cast Remove Disease. The cleric will make a 1d20+5 caster level check to purge the disease. You can pool your GP together to afford the casting if you desire, but no one can lend their PP. You could also hire a level 11 cleric for 330 GP to guarantee the spell works.

If you don't remove it here, Professor Yamino will need to keep rolling Fort Saves until he beats DC 12 twice or dies due to low Con/Cha.

Yamino reaches into his pocket and pulls out the 26 gold he has. With a look of desperation on his face he says, "Please, this is all I have." He looks to the cleric, then to his friends and back again hoping for someone to help.

I have two questions: 1) Will the cleric's aid restore the stats damage as well? 2) Can I subtract the cost from what I'll earn on the chronicle at the end, or does it have to come out of pocket right now?

1) The stats damage won't be fixed. But after the scenario your ability damage automatically repairs. 2) You get paid at the end of the scenario.

Goran, do you want to contribute 124 gp for the level 5 cleric, or 304 for the level 11 cleric?

Alright Yamino. Choose the 150 GP option and roll 1d20+5+1 to beat DC 12, or choose the 330 GP option.

Yamino breathes a sigh of relief as he feels the disease fade away. "Thank you so, so much!" he says to the cleric.

He turns to Goran, "And I can't thank you enough. I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't afford this! I owe you one."

"Away, foul disease!" The Cleric of Sarenrae waves his symbol dramatically. The sprouts fall off of Yamino immediately. "The disease may have worn your body- but not your spirit! Never give up the fight!" He pats the Professor on the back, thankful for the tithe.

The boat back to Katapesh is smooth sailing, aided by a strong, months-late wind.

Back in the Winding Road Inn, Venture-Captain Roderus demands a full story. "Your report, Pathfinders. How did your trip to Mercy go? What did Amenira say?"

Anyone wants to give a summary? The Captain's interested in learning how Mercy survived the Mana Storms, and Amenira's fate.

Allafaz contributes whatever gold he can towards Yamino's recovery. Espada would help out, but she's bound by the laws of the Non Participant Coalition.

The Venture-Captain awaits a summary of your journey.
We're in the home stretch, guys!

Yamino forces a smile in his still weakened state, "We found a tree beneath the city that was providing it with flourishing crops. We brought back a sapling, but on the way here it made me sick. I'm on the mend now, but whoever wants to study it should be careful.

"As for Amenira, why don't you ask her yourself?" Yamino says as he gestures to the doll he was carrying.

5-05 (Thread|Slides) | 1-07 (Thread|Slides)

"Good to see you got that sickness out. Some Pathfinders spend the rest of their days bedridden. I would have hate for it to happen to you." The venture captain takes the sapling. "Hmmm... I wish you had brought that seed back. I would have loved to research it."

Roderus reaches under his desk and withdraws a fat pouch of coins. "I told you I would compensate you for the success of your investigation, and I am a man of my word." He distributes coins to the PCs. "Well done, Pathfinders. It’s good to know I can rely on you for future missions."

"As for you, Nira, let's see what can be done for you..."

A few days of investigation and no one is exactly sure of the ritual Amenira used to transfer herself, but Nira seems to have become more lucid. Especially after Pathfinder Craftsmen were able to repair her.

"Thank you." She bows to the party before they leave for the next adventure. "If you need my help, please ask. Amenira...that was me, wasn't it?"

The End

Mission Complete! I'll prepare the chronicles soon.
