I am going to be out of town from 9/6 to 9/12 with no internet access. I will be back before the game starts, though. If we start character selection before then, I prefer a spell caster of some variety, but am not overly picky about who I play. I'm just happy to be in the game.
With the GM's permission, I was thinking of playing a Dragon Hunter Ranger. Dragon Hunter. It's found in the Dragonslayer's Handbook, and is not much different from a standard ranger until you hit 5th level. He believes he's a distant relative of the town's founder. (Which can either be true or false, depending on how we want to run this.)
This silvery metallic rod is engraved with varied depictions of musicians and musical instruments. The rod is activated by striking it against the ground, which causes it to vibrate for 10 minutes per activation. These vibrations produce a sub-audible tone that amplifies and enhances other sounds generated in its presence. Any spell with the sonic descriptor that is cast within 30 feet of the rod has its range extended, as though using the Enlarge Spell feat. In addition, the rod doubles the effective range of all bardic performances with an audible component initiated within 30 feet of the rod. The wielder activates the rod as a swift action. It can be activated up to three times per day.
