Making your way down towards the basements which descend futher into sub-basments beneath Skyreach, in turn spiraling out like hollow roots to cryptic galleries hidden where few Pahfinders tread.

You manage to get to a hallway that is 10 feet wide, bears fine masornry walls and is peppered with doors of wood, stone and iron.

One of the doors is clearly labeled with a brass plaque inscribered with large letters: The Antarnicus Wing Destination

Zurnzal: Half-orc Brawler/Assassin 6/2 | HP 65/72 | AC 19 T 14 FF 16 | F +9 R +10 W +7 | CMB +12 CMD 26 | Speed 30' Init +2 Perc +13

Zurnzal looks at the door. "Ah, here we are. Could someone check to make sure the door is not trapped? Rataji, you indicated we should expect guards inside. Do we want to barge in or should I try to pass myself off as the cleric? I'm not sure he would normally have come down here but it may give us a moment to enter."

Expediating game. Am already in the last encounter in my other game.

1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 37
1d20 + 22 ⇒ (14) + 22 = 36

Your Prosfessional Thief takes out a set of tools and deftly begins to check the door for any traps and disable it. It's quick and within a minute the door is disarmed and unlocked. Opening it reveals....

Rows of low shelves laden with scrolls, books, and the odd relic line this well-lit hall. At its far end stands a small fountain that emits a small amount of steam—enough to keep this dry room’s humidity constant. Six decorative columns, each one densely carved with animal imagery and fanciful whorls, stand along the walls, and a pair of lounging lizard statues rest on a dais at the north end of the room.

Most of the treasures here are simply field journals, rubbings, sketches, and boxes of broken pottery. The two northernmost shelves bear the most impressive finds, including a dozen weapons, a handful of beaten silver plates, and a smaller collection of journals. To the east and west are two pools of mild acid used to strip dirt and stains from relics.

GM Rolls.:

I think the thing about the statues left us expecting a surprise combat or something. That, and it's unclear where to go from here.

Rataji keeps his sudden uncertainty stoically concealed. "The secret to operating the Tapestry is supposed to be around here somewhere...."

Do I have any advanced knowledge about operating the Tapestry?

Looking at the map, I see the 2 lizard statues - they don't look too tough ;). What are the 2 things to either side of the entrance?

Zurnzal looks around the room. "Something seems off with those statues and it concerns me that there are no guards. Be prepared. I'll keep my eyes open while someone else starts searching the shelves for the notes we need."

He then moves over to the left aisle and moves closer with the group as they search. Can I see the lizard statue from here that I would be able to shoot my bow at it?

Sovereign Court

Rataji lays a gentle hand on the Professional's shoulder. "I think we need you, in particular, to show us your very best in here - and I'm certain you can and will." Again he flashes his hypnotic smile.

I cast heroism on the Professional. It will last 70 minutes.

Rataji swiftly identifies the Creatures as

Foo Chameleons:

Defensive Abilities paired protectors, stony defense (4/day); DR 5/bludgeoning; Immune disease, paralysis, poison, sleep

Paired Protectors (Su) When two or more foo creatures are within 30 feet of each other, they both gain the benefit of a protection from evil spell. The caster level of this protection from evil effect is equal to the highest Hit Dice of the affected foo creatures. This effect can be dispelled, but if it is, a foo creature can reactivate it as a swift action.

Stony Defense (Su) A foo chameleon can harden its skin to unyielding stone as an immediate action. It gains hardness 8 until the end of its next turn, but its speed is reduced by 10 feet for the same duration. These foo chameleons were startled by a potential threat earlier in the day, and they only have two uses of this ability remaining.

Tongue (Ex) A giant chameleon can grab a foe with its tongue and draw the victim to its mouth. This tongue attack has a reach of 15 feet. The attack does no damage, but allows the creature to grab. A giant chameleon does not gain the grappled condition while using its tongue in this manner.

FOO FRILLED LIZARDS:

Defensive Abilities paired protectors, stony defense (7/day); DR 5/bludgeoning; Immune disease, paralysis, poison, sleep

Intimidating Charge (Ex) When a foo frilled lizard charges, it hisses ferociously, extends its neck frills, and darts forward on its hind legs, increasing its base speed to 50 feet for that round. In addition to the normal effects of a charge, the creature charged must make a DC 13 Will save or be shaken for 1d6 rounds. This is a fear effect. The save DC is Charisma based.

The Artist's graceful and frenzied attacks leave it marks though most of her blade's edge is blunted on its skin.

The Leader reaches out and Dazes his foe, leaving it unable to attack while The Experiment's attempt once more fails.

The Chameleon hurting from the vengeful's attacks, rears his head and attempts to bite him before twisting to slam its heavy tail against its irrtating enemy.

In the absence of our Rogue, I gave you heroism, too, Joliryn - are you tracking that?

"Normally I subscribe to the 'keep it secret and keep it safe' school of thought, but I suppose I could listen to the old alma mater's more liberal philosophy for your sake." Rataji responds amiably over the sounds of battle.

Assuming the red chameleon is still dazed when I do this, I move around to give Zurnzal a flank, then try to daze it again for next round.

melee touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Zurnzal: Half-orc Brawler/Assassin 6/2 | HP 65/72 | AC 19 T 14 FF 16 | F +9 R +10 W +7 | CMB +12 CMD 26 | Speed 30' Init +2 Perc +13

Encouraged that Rataji is able to daze and help distract the chameleon, Zurnzal again makes multiple attacks trying to finish it off.

Pummeling style (8/10) add total damage before applying DR. Flurry of blows.

Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 1 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 1 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 13 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 1 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 13 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 29
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Ooo, that looks like a lot of damage :)
