The route to the surface leads through a maze of tight passages that include steep ascents and short climbs as they wind from west to east. As the party travels as quickly as they may, they can hear the sounds of a distant battle echoing through the caves, intermixed with inspirational tales of famous Pathfinders and the heroic deeds — the raging fight between Janira and the minotaur.
The way out seems near as you come upon some tight tunnels that range from 2 to 5 feet in width and average about 9 feet in height. The narrow passage forces you all into a single file marching order and the moist cave floor is slick, forcing you to take the trek more slowly than you would like. The air here is dank and smells of decay. A spot in the passage ahead is overgrown with mushrooms and other fungi. Jorag slows to observe it more closely and holds up his hand to halt the party behind him.

"Well, if you can, please hasten! Our comrade is faced with a great task by facing the minotaur alone, perhaps to great for her to handle!", Draco says, clearly very concerned.

Wei blinks once to make sure that he's not seeing things.
"Hold! Fungus moving!"
It's even more impressive because he's taking up the REAR of the formation, behind several light sources. His tone is quiet, yet not a whisper.
The tengu pulls out an alchemist's fire and glances to the rest of the party.
"Anyone want the honors? Also, be mindful how tight the space is, we might get smoke in our faces, or worse."
That is, of course, unless there is someone else in the party that has a better idea?

![]() |

I would not use that till we know what it is first. Some fungi react in a inhospitably way when exposed to fire. Once we identify it and know what element to use on it, then we can try and destroy the fungi.

Mira runs along with Jorag upon hearing Janira's voice. The halfling was safe! Good news if she'd ever heard it. Focused on running, she manages to just barely stop in time to avoid smacking into Draco ahead. Squinting at the moss, she wonders aloud "Why burn it? It's fungus. I bet you we could just jump over it." Nevertheless, she moves back to accept the alchemist's fire from Wei Ji with a nod of thanks. Her musket wasn't likely to do much to a bunch of mushrooms. "If we want to go with fire, I think I have a decent shot at it." she mentions.
Waiting for the others to weigh in on their course of action, Mira takes a moment to affix her bayonet. She might not do much shooting the fungus, but she bet she could still do a decent job at cutting it up.

Draco moves up and slashes at the mass of moss and fungus. His curve blade slices through the mycelium, revealing a slimy, oozy form beneath. A probing pseudopod comes out like a tentacle and lashes out for the elf, but he is too quick and dodges out of the way before it can find him.
Yeah, it doesn't look like anyone has Dungeoneering. Party is up!

In the tight confines of the tunnel, Kiri has few options for damaging the creature. She settles for casting a spell that causes her hand to cackle with pent up electricity. cast shocking grasp.

Boldren moves up and begins manipulating the arcane energies around him. Using intricate hand gestures and words of arcane command he calls forth another ray of icy cold. Double move action to get into position

bluedove |

Double move, Mira? Didn't you only have to move 20 ft? Havok, I probably ought not allow since I think you have played this scenario before, but it's your item being consumed. You should probably account for how you bought an ooze busting flask without even knowing what one is. Must have been a persuasive salesman! ^_~
Draco slashes again with his blade, slicing another large rip in the creature's fungal foliage. Havok then tosses a flask that seems especially effective. Whatever it was expires in frothy explosion of a chemical reaction and you are free to continue toward the surface.
Go ahead and announce any prep actions you take before emerging, I will update the map shortly. Kiri, are you wearing the cloak you still carry?
The silvery light of the moon-lit surface world above provides a welcome reprieve from the blue and green fungus of the caverns below, and the moonlight illuminates a stream whose water is hastened by runoff from a recent storm further up the mountains. A ledge to the west rises up to the nearby forest canopy.
Map is ready now, we'll continue with the same initiative, adding Janira and the minotaur.

Wei will look at the party, then at Boldren who had noted an interest in the items earlier while the tengu was working on the rope bridge.
"Thunderstone. Tanglefoot. Stop it. Burn at range. Don't give free shots! Jorag, hit shields on our magi, just in case, and Havok. I'll go without. Then focus on keeping everyone alive as best you can."
It's short, quick, and hopefully to the point. Havok will get an apologetic tilt of the head and slight shrug as previous adventuring experience with the Society in a slightly different scenario sort of bubbles out of his beak.
His bastard sword and shield have come out, just in case he *does* have to get into melee range with the minotaur.
That's Wei's 'prep' action. Will make move declaration when turn comes up on rotation.

I somehow counted that distance as 40 feet, hence the double move. No biggy, I only make my living by doing math! :P
With the ooze taken care of, Mira rushes out of the cave. That minotaur was a lot further away than it sounded! Rushing to catch up with the party's magi, Mira tries to mentally calculate the distance. She slides to a halt next to Mira. Close enough? It was only about 100 feet, she could make the shot if was careful. Especially if the minotaur continued chasing Janira.
Grabbing the bayonet, Mira rips it off of her gun, cursing the stupid thing. It was still shiny and new, having not been used at all. It just ate up valuable time while a friend was in danger.

Before exiting the cave, Boldren turns to the group and states. “I have the ability to increase a person’s size to match the size of the Minotaur. I can effect up to two people, would anyone prefer to be larger in size?”

Wei will nod to Boldren if no one else wants the en-biggening.

The halfling's grim and determined expression shifts to one of hopefulness as Janira notices the party emerge and come speeding her way. She continues her oratory speech, inspiring you on. “And it was Selmius Foster’s race against a marid and efreeti on the isle of Jalmeray, which taught us that nothing is truly impossible and every situation can end in victory!”
She steps back and lashes out with her whip which wraps around the thick haft of the minotaur's greataxe. She tugs against the brute's strength, but only manages to free her own weapon without dropping it.

Kiri sees Janira fall as she is crossing the log, which causes her to lose her concentration on the slippery trunk.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7 Moving at half speed over the log...
Not sure if that's going to cut it...I may end up in the drink!

![]() |

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Really?
Wei wasn't going to mess with the log, even before seeing what happened with Kiri's attempt at it. A nice long jump, with a nice running start... and given Pathfinder luck right now, ends up in the middle of the river.
If there's a plus side, he's en-Larged, right? And if the minotaur does try to get to him, it's not going to be able to charge, due to the difficult terrain, right?
Also, putting this up now because I have to work tonight.
Oh, hey, there's even a chance Wei can catch Kiri if she falls 'his' direction off the log! That'd be a bonus!
"GET JANIRA UP! TANGLE! TANGLE!" If that minotaur doesn't get slowed down, the party is toast, no doubt.

![]() |

Havok takes a running jump and
acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Just barely makes it across the 10 foot wide river. On the other side he widens his stance, lowers his shields and readies for what is about to come.
Full defense and use combat expertise if that stacks (not sure about that).
Played this a couple of times now, shouldn't a certain person destroy a certain weapon on a certain individual?

![]() |

Changed my last move, ran diagonally to the stream. Now for next move
Draco slows down to cross the stream and readies himself.
Acrobatics: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Um, would an acrobatics check count as a move or quick action? if it's a quick action, I'd like to move closer to the Minotaur and do this; Curve Blade attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
If it's a move action, I'll try this; Ray of frost: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
If it isn't either one, well then I'll just stand there waiting :p

![]() |

Um, would an acrobatics check count as a move or quick action?
I think pretty much all uses of Acrobatics are done as part of movement, or atleast jumping is, so a move action. On his turn, Jorag can use a free action to let Draco ignore difficult terrain, which would let him charge across the log and perform the curve blade attack.
"Noo!" Jorag roared, a deep bellow emanating from his throat, reminding everyone of the warrior he once was. Without a thought he sprinted towards the river. As he ran, he looked at the stricken halfling, hoping against hope that there was yet a life to save.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 4 = 11
Aided by his god given speed, he just barely managed to clear the river. Not thinking straight, he came to a halt at her side, within reach of the beasts weapon. "Would that these muscled were not ravaged by time, I would make you eat that axe, monster!" He howled, fists clenched, his stance wide and challenging.
Double move next to Janira, using Agile Feet on Draco and anyone else who looks to be needing it (Bit vague I know)

![]() |

I’m a little confused on the prep prior to exiting the cave. Did I manage to get an enlarge person off on someone as we exited the cave or no? Second I asked if someone wanted an enlarge person cast on them and two people said yes, but it looked like they ran off immediately after saying that. If that was the case Boldren would not have wasted the spell and instead would have moved with the group. At this point, standing in the cave casting enlarge person on nobody is a waste.
