Fowl Play?
Btw, I really need to get myself a document containing my XP and prestige and boons, because I just realized I dont really have an overview of it all...I think I might be leveling but not sure...Bah!
Also, has anyone claimed the pearl of power from the last scenario? I think Jorag would like it.

If we were all tengu, I'd buy that. But we only have a token tengu, so that's really not... fair?
Have you downloaded the free .pdf from the Pathfinder Society?
It actually talks about how to get gear from modules and the sort.
Over in Player Resources.
Basic gist, the items on your chronicle sheet that are not crossed off can be bought with currency at the end of that module or at any point a GM deems it possible to purchase one.
It strains credulity a little bit, but it really neatly avoids the whole 'I need the cloak, no *I* NEED the cloak' arguments. You can use the item in the adventure it is found in at no cost, but at the end you can presume that it goes into the Pathfinder storage bins and they'll let you buy it at whatever price, and since the Society is a clearing-house for adventuring, they have spares.
No, you can't loot this hypothetical 'storage bin', it's a figurative description I've come up with for the best way I can think of to describe it from an IC perspective.
So if you have the 1,000 gold that a L1 Pearl of Power costs in your cash reserves, and are willing to spend it at an appropriate moment -- Congrats on your new acquisition!
bluedove DID say we were in a town and we did have three days to essentially burn...

At the end of each scenario you are awarded a chronicle sheet. If you are successful you earn an amount of gold equivalent to how successful you do during the scenario. Some items found during the scenario become available for you to buy with the gold that you earned. So basically all items found become available to everyone in the group. In this case, all six players can by the pearl of power if they have enough gold.
You can down load the latest society rule book for free from the link below. It will help you a lot.

Right, your chronicles basically "unlock" things for purchase, rather than awarding you with what you found. Although you did receive a free personalized wayfinder on your Confirmation.
Ok Jorag, you should be able to look at your sessions tab on each character to see the games that have been reported for them. But let's see if my memory is up to the task; Andy(Rhanloi Ehlyss) and I encouraged you to make your first PFS character and you played Tide of Twilight with us in the first PbP gameday event. After that I began the DWK series and you played in all 4 of those and then The Confirmation. Soo...
Tide of Twilight
DWK 1
DWK 2
DWK 3
DWK 4
The Confirmation
Yep, looks like he should be level 3 now with 6 XP and 12 PP!
I just keep a notepad file with my list of chronicles and how much Gold each one awarded, but the Tracking Sheets that comes with the Guide to Organized Play are handy too. There's even a form fill-able one to keep a digital record. Hope that helps!
Edit: Uh oh... I'm not sure a level 3 can still run in First Steps. =/ (Goes to look up)

Bluedove, I noted that the scenario we just completed is not showing on Boldren's sessions. Is there a delay in the reporting process do to the game day event?
| bluedove |
Yeah, I report it to the VOs and then they have a back-log to report it to the Paizo system. It usually takes a week or two.

Hrmmm... mind is drawing a serious blank on the team names, I will keep thinking.
Also, I think I'm holding on to most of my money, the only purchase I have to note is upgrading Mira's gun to remove the battered condition (300g using the Gunslinger's special note on the Gunsmithing feat)
We will miss Jorag if he has to go! It was fun playing the confirmation with you!

Choosing is always the hard part.

Im having a bit of trouble with the additional resources document, it wont open for me, says its not a pdf, though looking at the file itself tells me otherwise.
Anyone run into that before?

If your referring to the link I posted, it is a web address link.

Copy and past that in address bar and you should be good to go.

Yeah thats where I downloaded from, and the file wont open. Claims the problem is it isnt a pdf, but when I look at properties, it is.
Bit baffled to be honest.

Theadric is an interesting concept, is he going for a Ranger/Jester build?
I'd rather just have the RP speak for itself...

Can someone relay to me whether all the advanced class guide classes and archetypes are allowed? Contemplating a warpriest.
Also looking at Alchemist and would like to know if Mindchemist is allowed.
Thanks

classes are allowed, not all archetypes though
| bluedove |
So the PDF copy of the Additional Resources won't open for you? Just tried it myself and it's working ok for me. =/
But when I want to quickly know if some trait or feat or archetype is PFS legal, I check Archives of Nethys. If they show the Grand Lodge symbol on the text, it means it's legal for Society Play. The warpriest and mindchemist classes are legal for play provided you own a copy of the Advanced Class Guide. The playtest versions are no longer legal for play as of 8/14/14.

Heloooooooo pathfinders.
Look at your ranger!
Now back to me!
Now back at your ranger!
Now back to me!
Sadly, he isn't me. But if he stopped using boring front door entrances and switched to explosions, he could smell like me (like gunpowder)
Look down, back up! We're on a dock! You're on an adventure with the ranger your ranger could smell like.
What's in your hand? Back at me. I have it! It's an oyster, full of components to that spell you love. Look again. The spell components are now explosions!
Anything is possible when your ranger smells like explosions, and not boring.
I'm on a pony.
*jingle*
As a side note, Jorag, alchemist is pretty fun! I played one in BD's Devil We Know campaign
| bluedove |
Jorag, we need your fresh character to join us soon. You can always make use of a Pre-gen if the choice is still brewing. =)
Also, Draco, you still with us?

If a party member's roleplay and action shifts from 'fun antics' to 'endangering an entire party for no particularly good reason whatsoever' aside from 'it's fun for the player in question', does a party have any sort of option of handling the matter within PFS play?
This is the third session I've been in (two at GenCon this past August) with someone whose character has performed like this, and its not going to be fun or funny if our mission crashes and burns because of it. (We got lucky on one. The other one... we're very lucky we didn't have a TPK and barely made it out by the skin of our teeth and lost points because of it.)
Theadric Greyhood

/sigh
1. I'm sorry you feel I'm in the territory of endangering the party. I can see you are very serious about this, and that my role-playing of this character is upsetting you. I apologize.
2. Honestly, though I've liked playing this character with some zany antics, I try to not have the antics ever affect anything mechanically. For example, I was never going to really throw the key away. Boldren had already said he would mage hand it, so I am just trying to play into the story. I was even trying to help attach the crate to the crane, but didn't realize I was stepping on your toes. I apologize.
3. As for recourse? How about you just ask me? Had you expressed some concern earlier, I could have backed off without the need for a response like this. I'm certainly trying to contribute to everyone's fun, not detract from it. Consider my character's antics over with. I apologize.

When the GM has made it blatantly clear that there's an area of the floor in the building we're in that's dramatically unstable over a fall and water of uncertainty, that's kind of the flavor of a situation I'm looking at. Launching from a pony onto an exceptionally unstable area that the party is already working on a solution is the sort of thing that can cause a party wipe.
Since we're being blunt, I'll roll it right out.
Bringing in what appears to be a fresh new character and then engaging in this activity made it look to me like you were 'trolling'.
I'm sorry I made that assumption, because you are responding in a rational and cohesive fashion. This is unlike the other two situations I cited, where the player wasn't willing to stop, and claimed that telling them 'how to play their character' was 'bullying' them. This is part of the reason I was attempting to be subtle and suggest.
When dice are rolled, mechanics come into play. bluedove is an awesome GM, and I trust her filter, but after a certain point it becomes uncertain 'what is real' and 'what is fluff'. I apologize for not asking you to tone it down a bit in the first place.
I don't mind some of the antics, and the 'feel' of your character is awesome. But sometimes, stunts get a party killed, and sometimes they are Moments of Awesome. We're only on the first of four steps (at least) in this module, and I'm sure there's going to be call for amazing showmanship. Just not at the moment?

Apology accepted, please accept mine?
Heading to work, not sure what else we need to do as far as rolls, will be able to post again in about ten hours. Fate of the party in the interim.
Hood, we'll probably need that flash later on. Please hang onto it?

I've played a number of characters, and the vast majority of them are very business-oriented and low-antics. So it's probably good for me to know that the antics have limits; I'll stay within them.
Anyway, let's get back on track with the scenario...apologies to our great DM and others for a little drama.
Boldren The Tarnished

My input on the role play. Role play your character how you envision him to be. If anyone has a problem with your character, they can choose not to adventure with him. If the entire group has a problem with him, then they can choose to adventure without him, and so on. When you create a character you have a vision in mind. You may decided to add more or less personality depending on feedback from other characters. If a player becomes so inappropriate that the GM needs to step in, then I would consider a reduction. As you know, this happened with Boldren in the last scenario. I decided to tone it down some because of the feedback I received. Not because I was afraid of offending anyone, but because I personally decided I was over doing it a little. That being said, if someone addresses your extreme personality in character, then that is a different story. They can role play how they feel their character would react to yours. That in game feedback could very well change how your character perceives things and could change how he interacts with the group.
So fare I see your character as completely unencumbered, free wheeling, fun loving with little to no concern for danger. I find him amusing and Boldren's inner-child wants to join in, but his reason prevents him from throwing caution to the wind. Maybe after some strong dwarven drink!

'ey... welcome aboard Vinny! How's it hangin'?
Theadric Greyhood

Thanks, Boldren.
Let's move forward, and I'll try to play him as I've envisioned; again, I don't want to hurt us mechanically or get us into trouble, so feel free to stage an intervention if that occurs.
Game on!

As a heads up, I'm going to be traveling for most of Monday, so if things are moving fast on that day, please feel free to puppet Mira for whatever you need!

*looks at the party*
So we've got Boldren as Teflon Billy,
Draco Anabolis as Ruroni Kenshin,
Mira Ellis Alder as Annie Oakley (?)
Vinny as John Constantine
Theadric Greyhood as Colt Seavers
Captain Havok as Sgt. Rock
... I have no idea for Wei Ji.
Anyone else have another take on this?
Vincenzo Moretti
|
Well I can tell you what im basing Vinny on.
As for Wei, he seems to be his own character, or atleast im not thinking up any obvious parallels. The whole birdman aspect probably isnt helping there.
Mira Ellis Alder
|
Haha, Wei Ji is Gibs, is he not?
I like the Annie Oakley connection for Mira. I originally drew her up as this starry eyed kid who saw herself as a hero from a story, so I'm thinking she probably sees herself as the Broadway musical version of Annie Oakley?
Wei Ji
|
Okay, so our revised list:
Boldren The Tarnished as Teflon Billy
Draco Anabolis as Ruroni Kenshin
Mira Ellis Alder as Annie Oakley (Broadway musical variant)
Vincenzo Moretti as Vinny
Theadric Greyhood as Colt Seavers
Captain Havok as Sgt. Rock
Wei Ji as Leroy Jethro Gibbs
Note:I'll admit I was having a hard time with Wei, but yeah, given the group dynamic and his rather... wan-worn perspective, Gibbs fits.
Let's keep working on this!
Wei Ji

Boldren's been playing with us all along. He's actually a master of earth magicks!
Boldren continues to perform miner magic
