"Hmm, oh you mean this?" Acher takes the crumpled cape from her pack. "It was left down at the bottom of a spiked pit by the entrance we came in. Was it from one of your comrades?"

Acher cautiously approaches the city, stepping gently into the pool around it to get a closer look. She circles it, then looks back up at Urori. "Yeah, we noticed the inscriptions aren't exactly easy to make out. Still, it's somewhat impressive they've endured this long after his, Passing. But you seem more in touch with this place than we are: can you still feel His influence? How?"

Harry studies the gillman (Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24) carefully, and notices both his apparent lip fetish and the similarity of the gillman's cloak to the one they found. Harry mentions "I had a friend growing up who got really sick when he was a kid. Something in the fever ruined his ears, and he couldn't hear. He learned to figure out what people were saying by watching their lips."

Harry moves forward, and turns to face the gillman. Once the gillman turns to look at his, he politely (Diplomacy+using nonfree Inspiration: 1d20 + 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (11) + (1) + 3 = 15) tells the gillman "Hello, friend. We are sorry to have disturbed you in your meditation at this holy site. We hope our worship here will not disturb you as well? We are here on behalf of the Pathfinder Society to map out these caves. A previous group, mapping the mountains, noticed your people using these caves. This was thought to be worth noting, as your people are not well-known for venturing so far from the sea. Those carvings in the previous cave are phenomenal, and so old! Is that why your people come here? I know you are descendants of the old Azlanti.I found the stories of the Craftsman, the Thief, the Farmer, and the Merchant to be fascinating in their differences from the tales I have seen! Oh, oh dear, I'm so sorry - my name is Haraldo, but my friends call me Harry. Please feel free to do so as well, Uori. As to the cloak, we found one at the bottom of the pit." Harry waves behind them, and then continues "It seems like we left it back there. I think it was magical, but we did not know what it did. I would certainly be willing to run back and fetch it for you if you like? I assume it belongs to a compatriot of yours, given the similarity of the stitching and coloring."

Harry continues "We'll continue exploring and mapping out these caves. Do you have any knowledge of what's beyond this room?"

Harry inhales deeply, notices Acher with the cloak, looks like he's about to say something, and breaths in even more!


Uori accepts the cloak, and he eases up. "I have some proficiency with magic. Even though I have no ties with the dead god of humans, I am able to feel the lingering remains of Aroden's magic."

It costs him some effort to follow Harry's barrage of words, but Uori manages to catch all of it. He thinks.

"Beyond this room are other creatures," Uori tells you, and points at the tunnels east and west of the holy water. "They have invaded these caves and are not as polite as you... If only they'd leave this sacred place..."

Reaching into one of his pockets, Uori produces wand. "Take this when you venture forth. It's a wand of shield of faith, with ten charges remaining. You may be able to use it."

The wand's CL 6.

"Your worship here doesn't disturb me. Go ahead and do your thing."

Harry bows deeply to the gillman, and waits until he is upright and facing the gillman before simply saying "Thank you, Uori". He then turns to face the others, and asks "I had some ideas after looking at the runes in that last room. Perhaps we should make an obsecration here to Aroden? I suspect our usual deities will understand, and be forgiving, as we are in a place of his worship, and it seems polite. We were able to see four different aspects of Aroden - should we try to figure out how to imitate one of them here?"

Dinuci looks bored after Harry's first two sentences and paces around the room a bit. When Harry continues talking he walks over to the eastern pathway.
"Ah'ma take a look over there."

Acher watches the dwarf trundle to the east. She starts moving to join him, but Harry's eagerness gives her pause. Eh, might as well entertain the kid. Seems so excited about a dead god I'd shudder to think what he'd do about a live one.

"What are you thinking, Harry? Have us take up farming?"

" No - nothing that active, it's more the symbolism! We saw the farmer, the merchant, the craftsman, and the thief. I bet if we examine the city, we'll see something we can use for a quick symbolic prayer as a sign of respect. Come take a quick look with me?"

Harry moves into the water, and stares at the city in awe and desperation, while his lips moves in silent prayer in stride with his thoughts. Zohls, I do this in your name, even if it is for another. Like you I cannot stand a mystery, and I ask your humor here. Harry studies the miniature city, for signs of something he could make, something he could plant, something he could buy or sell, or something he could steal, at least in some symbolic form. Perception + burning a 2nd non-free inspiration: 1d20 + 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + (4) + 5 = 15


Harry notices several things. The area around the pool has a few stones and a small amount of clay. There's some gravel near the pool as well. In the miniature city itself lie several gold coins, and also several colored stones.

"In a minute Dinucci! Just want to finish this up," Acher calls back to the dwarf. Crouching down to the pool, she grabs a clump of mud out from the water and molds it over in her hands. Smooth out the edges, breath on it to dry it slightly, a pebble or dirt fragment for detail...

After a few minutes, Acher stands up holding a lumpy small sculpture, vaguely resembling the missing Janira. Eh, not great, but it'll do Placing it down in the facsimile Absalom, Acher's eyes glance upwards. "A craft for the Craftsman," she whispers


To not slow things down too much, I'll make the accompanying roll:

When Acher places her small sculpture in the miniature Absalom, the city seems to pulse for a moment. A wave of warm energy washes over the party members.

Completing the ritual of the Craftsman grants all of you a +1 competence bonus on Perception checks to find hidden doors and concealed objects.

Harry gets a giant grin on his face. "Thanks, Acher! I KNEW something cool could happen. It's old magic!"

That dwarf is definitely in a hurry. I don't really want to kill anything I don't have to, but sometimes you just need to bash a few heads together. I guess he's having one of those days today. Well, best to humor him and keep on with our mission I suppose.

Harry turns and bows once more to Uori. "Thank you, sir. We hope you find what you're looking for here as well. In the meanwhile, we'll be poking about a bit more, and hopefully leave this place a bit safer for you and yours."

Harry looks at Acher and Chilly. "Our compatriot seems to be impatient to see what else there is to these caves. Can't say I blame him, seeing as he's a dwarf who's never been in a cave before! Shall we?" Harry strides off towards Dinuci, to continue exploring the caves.

Harry feels a weird urge to make Uori get the cloak out from under an evergreen tree, but he no idea how one would grow down here. He decides to ignore the feeling, for now.

You decide to move into the eastern tunnel. The cave’s damp air becomes increasingly stale as you continue down through this tunnel. As you approach a new area, the stench of decay grows increasingly evident. The passage turns to the east and opens into a small cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper, and other unusable detritus. The body of a male dhampir lies face down toward the back of the cavern. Besides the dead dhampir, there are three gillman skeletons in this cave.

Initiative:

One of the skeletons moves over to Dinuci, whose haste has placed him in front of the others. The skeleton swings a single claw at Dinuci.

Harry tries to remember what he knows of skeletons to inform the others of any particular strengths, weaknesses, or attacks they may have (Knowledge religion: 1d20 + 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (18) + (4) + 9 = 31).

As he's informing the others of what he remembers, Harry is busy stowing his bow - mostly useless in this sort of combat. He draws a set of brass knuckles from a pouch at his waist with a wicked grin. Oh, Susie me dear, are you ready to kiss some more foes for me? I know I've missed wielding you...

Acher gives a start at Dinucci's shout of pain and his wolf's growl. Trying to peer past Chilly and the druid, she catches a glimpse of animated bones. Skeletons, great. Not again.

She lifts her hammer in anticipation and shuffles slightly side-to-side, looking for an opening.

Acher will delay until Dinucci. If he and the wolf move out of the way, she will advance and slug the first skeleton.


Harry's an expert on skeleton, and shares all the information about them with the party. Even if they don't wish to hear it.

While Acher waits to see what Dinuci does, Harry draws his brass knuckles.

The red skeleton moves, but can't get to any of you.

"Urrrghhhhhh, fine!" Acher yells as Dinucci calls back. She moves up slightly, hugging the wall. "Just come back then, draw them out into the wider passage."

Harry will take a 5 foot step to the North to make some room when he can. In the meanwhile, he's still going through his skeleton recitation. "There will be a quiz after this battle, provided we all survive." he adds with a laugh when he's done.

Going to be traveling for most of the next 24 hours, so posting what my actions will be. Didn't move myself yet though, as I am constraining some of my actions by being where I am until it's actually my next turn.

Acher hugs the wall while Dinuci commands Riri to move back.

The green skeleton moves closer to Dinuci, and claws at him from around the corner.

As the green skeleton misses Dinuci twice, having difficulty reaching the dwarf from around the corner, Riri obeys her master by moving back.

The blue skeleton then attacks Dinuci with both its claws.

Dinuci doesn't even have to bother dodging, because the skeleton fails hard. It's just flailing its arms in the air.

Harry takes a 5-foot step north, meanwhile continuing his lecture on skeleton trivia.

For a moment, it looks like the red skeleton sighs. It crosses its arms while impatiently tapping the floor with one of its feet.

@Chilly Everyone went out of the way so I could 5 foot step back. I don't want a aoo on me by moving away. If you move away now I may be able to move back and Acher could move in if the GM approves that I use my 5 foot step a little bit later?

Harry finishes up the lecture on skeletons - and man is he parched after all that talking! He takes a quick swig of water from his canteen to cut the dust, and looks around the new stretch of cave. He holds two fingers roughly a knuckle's length apart and looks through them, first by his eye and then with his arm fully extended. He then peers intently at each of you, and again at the skeleton he can see.

He then announces "Gentlemen, and lady of course, as well as you my noble lupine companion, I do believe that one of you will need to forego glory, and come join me back here. There simply isn't sufficient space here for all of you to stand in a line and smite our foes."

Chilly takes the position Riri had a moment ago, and Dinuci desperately swings his weapon at the skeleton in front of him. The dwarf doesn't manage to connect to his target.

There isn't much else to do for Harry than finish his lecture, and remind both Chilly and Dinuci of the party's strategy.

The red skeleton continues to sigh, and tap its foot impatiently.

Harry mutters to Dunuci "Hang out there for a second, hoss - I've got that half-pint's wand here in my pack, and can give you some relief once I manage to find it". Harry then starts rummaging through his pack with the occasional "No, not that" and "Zohls!"

I've got the CLW wand and I'm not afraid to use it.

Archer winces ats fresh wounds bloom from Dinucci's chest. "All right , move back and heal up. We can take it from here." Her eyes follow the dwarf as he retreats back up the tunnel, then turns back and readies herself for the skeletons' advance.

Readied action: swing at skeleton that comes into reach.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
bludgeoning damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14


I'll treat retrieving the wand as Harry round 3 action. He may also 5-foot step toward Dinuci and use the wand this turn, if he wishes. Given that he's only used a move action so far :)

Harry retrieves Janira's wand of cure light wound while Dinuci retreats. the others ready an attack on the first skeleton to advance.

Acher fails to hit the green skeleton when he walks up to the party, but Chilly hits it. However, Chilly's dagger doesn't deal any damage to the skeleton.

The green skeleton has a +4 cover bonus to AC from the attacks Acher and Riri would make from their current position, because they'd be trying to hit their target from around a hard corner.

The Exchange

Harry will, indeed, tap the dwarf on the head with the wand, while shouting "HEEL!" at him. Of course, everyone else will hear it as "Heal!", but it's the little things (no pun intended towards the dwarf, mmmm hmmm) that makes life fun sometimes. As Cure Light Wounds is on his spell list, and is one he actually knows (albeit can only use on himself for now), he doesn't even have to lie to the wand about his intentions.

Cure Light Wounds wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5


Harry steps closer to Dinuci, and heels the dwarf a bit.

Riri attacks the skeleton, but cannot connect to it.

The blue skeleton closes the line, and the blue skeleton looks like it's about to do the same.

"Come on!" Acher yells as she grits her teeth and takes another swing at the (green) skeleton.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13

The sound of her hammer crunching against reanimate bone brings a smile to Acher's face. Then she steps slightly back, hoping to draw the skeleton's even further into the wider cave.

It takes a moment and then he feels his body restore.
"Hmmmmm great!"
Dinuci casts guidance on himself in preparation to get back into the fight.
"Ah'm not done yet!"


@Chilly: Aid another is a +2 bonus. Meaning you're double as effective as you'd hoped! ;)

Acher smashes the green skeleton, and steps back. Chilly also steps back, and readies himself to aid Acher.

Dinuci casts guidance on himself, preparing himself to get back into the fight.

Harry is pretty happy where he is. He looks down at Susie (his lovely and wonderful set of brass knuckles), sighs, and removes them. He reaches forward and taps Chilly on the shoulder. "Would you like to borrow these?" Harry is willing to spend the next few seconds trying to get a blunt weapon into the hands of someone a bit stronger and healthier looking than himself.

Harry offers his brass knuckles to Chilly.

The red skeleton moves forward, mindlessly moving past the corner Riri's behind to attack her. (Riri gets an AoO. I'll roll it this time, to not cut this round into more pieces.)

Riri's bite, AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Trip on successful attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Riri's bite doesn't deal a lot of damage, but it does drag the skeleton to the ground.

Claw, Prone: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 4 = 8 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

the prone skeleton claws at Riri, but misses the wolf.
