Rhuul looks at the gap between the ships.
"I have never before indulged in dwarf tossing and see no reason to start now." he plants his feet firmly and prepares to hit any pirate trying to board again, while keeping up the humour.

Malus intones some words while gesturing at the archer farthest to the south, and not otherwise occupied by a melee monster.

Malus casts a spell to the southern archer, but he shrugs off the effect.
fort: 1d20 ⇒ 20
The first eagle hits with all three of its attacks, dropping the poor pirate with numerous scratches.
The other does not fare as well and does not score any hits.
Rhuul continues with his jokes from the deck of your own ship.
Holman starts to charge but sees the eagle had dropped his foe (again leaving him with a change of plans). He races up the stairs and stabs the other archer through the eye.
Captain Riverbane points her wand at the last archer, and he goes down
in a clump.
"We have seen enough of your ilk. We will send you to the bottom of the riverbed for your inept attack on our ship!"
* End Combat *

![]() |

"Why send them to the riverbed? Couldn't we like, sell their ship? We should see if there be plunder too suggests Rhuul, starting to get into the piratey swing of things.
A look of concern does cross his face.
"Surely this ship is known to be the property of the Black Marquis? Who would dare attack it? Do you know any of these ...." Rhuul points to the bodies.

Eadie pleads with Lady Riversbane. “Couldn’t you send a prize crew back to the Black Marquis with the captured vessel, Ma’am? Though I must say, Waverender is a pretty boring sorta name. Would it be out of order to request we re-name the cog?”

Malus takes some time to straighten out his clothing, and begins a quick check of his equipment to ensure nothing is lost or out of place.
"If this is the big pirate threat we have been hearing about on these waters, I am sorry to say that it appears slightly exaggerated; they may have accomplished more shouting puns back at us."
Malus waves dismissively at the eagles, causing them to leave this plane with a faint popping noise.
"I have no use for a ship myself, but I have to agree that this value seems wasted at the floor of the river."

![]() |

Adoring the majestic eagles, his attention is diverted back to the discussion at hand after they suddenly poof out of existence.
"Aye. If we have enough for a skeleton crew, why not take it for plunder?

![]() |

"I be liking 'The beareded Jester' meself" agrees Rhuul.
"Be there any plunder aboard? And Captain Riverbane - what can you tell us about these wana be pirates?"

GM Aarvid |

The Waverender is in an advanced state of disrepair and is of little to no value.
Eadie finds a table in the captain’s cabin. Hidden under it, she uncovers a set of maps
and notes regarding navigation in the River Kingdoms. That is about all of note from the ship. The pirates are likewise non-descript, with mundane gear.
"They were not much of a fight." Captain Riverbane cuts one of the six lines and yells to her crew.
"Cut us loose and dump the bodies. We are losing time, boys!"
She orders the Scrag to make haste on the river.

GM Aarvid |

The Scrag Fisher sails on after the altercation with the river
thugs and does not come across any other aggressive boats
that day.
The next morning, low gray clouds smear the
sky, and by midday tall trees leaning over the riverbank
further obstruct the pale sun. A gloomy mood falls on the
crew as the ship enters Echo Wood.
A mere hour before dusk, the sailors call out as your
expedition comes across a barge trapped in giant webs.
The wind seems to come to a dead still as the Scrag Fisher
approaches the wreckage of a hulking river barge.
“It’s the Hanspur’s Luck, Milady—or what’s left of it,”
grumbles one of the crew. Like a large bee stuck in a spider’s web, the
partially sunken boat bulges out of a mesh of sticky tangles,
its deck slightly sloping abaft.
Slowly turning the wheel, Lady
Riverbane orders her ship toward the ensnarled derelict,
and a minute later the Scrag Fisher’s moorings are secured
to the Hanspur’s Luck. The captain turns around and says,
“Here we are mates. That looks like a good place to start your
investigation, wouldn’t you say?”
See map 2. This is a new day.

With a polite bow to Eadie, Rhuul looks around for a plank to use to cross over onto the ensnared ship.
"Ladies first. Well, armoured folk first anyway."
Rhuul unflurls his pathfinder flag.

As dawn breaks and the bosun does his rounds, Eadie grumbles as she rolls herself out of her hammock, wrapped in her cloak.
Craft (Fritters): 1d20 ⇒ 3
Half an hour later she is busy helping the cook fry burn whitebait and corn fritters.
She chats to Tormer while she serves the crew breakfast. “So we ARE on the Fever Sea! I KNEW IT! Holman tried to tell me we were still on the Sellen River, and I believed him!”
“Shoulda had more faith in my own judgement. But I’ve gotta say … the Fever Sea is WAY narrower than I thought it’d be.”
"Oh and I hope you like your fritters well done ..."
Once the galley fires have been extinguished, she shares her breakfast with her companions, washing it down with a dose of antitoxin. Before preparing to board the Hanspur’s Luck, Eadie takes her time donning a suit of black full plate. Over her left breast is embossed a modified symbol of Abadar – a key with a heart-shaped head. She throws her golden cloak about her shoulders and adjusts her weapons and backpack before settling a golden feathered helm over her head.
“I’m happy to go first. I may be a bit slower than before but I’ll be harder to hit.”

Malus takes the time to activate his Mage Armor wand once again, and joins Eadie, albeit slightly behind. The wand is returned to his bandolier for future use.
"I am right behind you, Eadie, my magic at the ready."

"Beg your pardon Eadie, but my eyes are sharp and able to warn our crew if we encounter any traps. With your permission, I prefer to scout ahead five paces unseen."

As the party scouts ahead to the derelict ship, you find
the top deck of this bulky vessel holds nothing of
interest. There is no sign of life onboard.
To even move, you must cut your way through thick
webbing to reach the hatchway and staircase leading
inside the ship's hull. The webs are everywhere on the deck. You can tell the ship is sinking towards the aft as the bow of the ship is inclined.
Give a marching order or move yourself onto the ship on the new map. Let me know if you cannot update.
Captain Riverbane calls out.
"Let us know if you find anything. We will wait here for you."

"Down looks to be the only option."
Says Rhuul, enlightening nobody.
"Lets hope the ship takes her sweet time coming to the same conclusion."
He follows the group downwards.

"Down looks to be the only option."
“That’s one possibility – sure.”
After considering Rhuul’s conclusion, Eadie activates her wayfinder and clips it to her belt in anticipation of a dark trek below decks in the Hanspur’s Luck.
“I’ve got no problem if you and Holman want to scout a little ways ahead, Mr Stoneclaw. I’ll be only a holler away.”

Sorry I have not been able to get onto Paizo all night and morning until now.
You hack through the webs on the top deck finding nothing of interest. As you head down into the darkness below, you hear the sloshing of water and smell of dank wood.

You can make perception checks as you enter the lower hold. Map has been updated...and for some reason you feel about 15% smaller in the ship's hold - lol

The floor grows slick, but the giant spider nimbly grabs the wall and ceiling, covered in webs, to avoid the grease.
In the hold, with the light from Eadie's wayfinder, you see vast sheets of webbing (act as web spell for movement) and 3 large spiders spring from behind crates to attack.
