Thanks for letting me play in your game, GM Aarvid.

Eadie is a pretty straight-forward two-handed melee fighter. I enjoy the tactical elements of combat … as well as roleplay, of course!

Looking forward to a fun game with you all.

Will deduct 5gp for cleric’s vestments and 1sp for a stuffed parrot. Still considering purchases … Spiders, huh? Maybe some more alchemist’s fire. What do you guys think?

Can anyone handle swarms?

Glad to have found a spot. Hoping to broach this subject early because it caused me some hassles before:

I have done two PbP sessions so far. One was fantastic, and the other I wish I had never done it.

The good one was great because people were legitimately posting at least once per day (often more when things were fun). Posting a lot had no effect on how well the roleplaying went.

The second one dragged on forever because several people interpreted 1 post per day as "Once my turn comes up, I have 24 hours to post". What this in fact translates to is your 'turn' only coming up every 3-4 days.

The latter makes you lose immersion quickly and you have to continually check back and read the thread to catch up because you forget what has happened.

I just hope that we can all agree to be a bit more active on this one. If this cannot be done, please tell me now, as I would rather not play than to participate in a session that locks down my character for 3+ months of not fun.

I am not trying to make this seem like an ultimatum, but I hope to just remind everyone that when stuff like this happens, things become less fun for the 5-6 other people always waiting for you. Obviously, I have no issues with real life happening, and a post to remind people that you get busy for a few days goes a long way (I went to a wedding out of town, but still managed a post or two on my cellphone; it only took minutes).

Let's all do our best to make this fun for everyone?

Eadie: I should be able to help on swarms, through level 2 scrolls and Alchemist's Fire.

Malus, I agree with the statement and will do my best to keep things moving. I usually post once in the morning and once (or more) in the evening. If you know you will be away or unable to post, feel free to post ahead. I apply actions in init order.

I roll group initiatives and group saves, but players roll individual saves and attacks etc.

Also, if miss chance applies, it is always miss on low of 1d100 (20 or 50).

I was expecting one more to join but do not see them, so I think we will roll with the 5 we have.

3+4+4+5+5 = 4.2 so we are playing tier 3-4

I have a post in to Hawk and one of my other prior players. Both had expressed interest but could have been caught up with RL issues.
I will keep moving and if we do not hear from them once the first combat is underway, I can try to pull in another agent from Flaxseed Lodge.

Sorry GM - I had some family issues come up over Thanksgiving causing some delay.

And more bad news, I just realized that I actually have already played this senario. Only realized it after the intro 'Hey this sounds familiar....' so I will have to bow out. I'll keep this character in reserve to join up with you again once this is over if you'll still have me.

As a couple reminders now that we are underway:

1) Please keep HP and AC status updated in your profile tag
2) I will roll group init and track actions in order. If you want to post ahead, feel free. I may move you or allow you to change your action if someone else goes before you and alters the playing field (blocks a charge lane, is injured, creates a pit, drops your target etc)
3) Miss is always low (20 or 50) on [1d100] if miss chance applies
4) If you want to try something a little off base...ask me. Our goal is to have fun. Sometimes the odd actions are the most memorable. :-)

Which bard effects would have an effect on my summons? I assume no for the Pathfinder Society Flag as they are not Pathfinders, but would they get the benefit of Inspire Courage, for instance, even if they do not speak common?

I believe bard inspire is not language dependent...so should apply. I am not sure they even need to be intelligent.

I may have missed this, but do you want us to post at the start of the round, or wait until our turn or....

Based on what we've seen thus far, I think that if we face more pirates of this sort that I will be easing off spending my resources unless there is a bigger threat involved.

You are a tad over powered at this tier for a year-2 mod designed for 4 characters. That is why I did not push hard for a 6th player. Trying to keep it someone interesting.

Oh, I see. First time I've played anything before season five, didn't know things were like that.

At the end of the day, we're having fun, so I'm not too concerned.

Season zero is the worst for it, as PF characters are quite a bit more powerful than 3.5

Yeah, while the combats are easier and the running time much shorter than later seasons, I’ve found many Season Zeros to be very atmospheric, well written and therefore a lot of fun – especially if you share a similar play-style to that of your fellow players and the GM.

Just a heads up, I have an arcanist exploit that I have found to be particularly useful in PFS: Consume Magic Items.

Basically, whenever potions/scrolls/wands are found, I can convert them into one of my resources (my arcane reservoir). Obviously, I don't just consume everything I find, but this can be turned into:

-More standard action summons
-Buffs to my spell's caster level or DC
-Used to teleport around

I have often found that we get items that while useful (e.g. a wand of restoration when fighting things that do ability damage), not all charges need to be used.

TL;DR: feed me magic items for fun times(TM).

Not to mention buying wands with PP points for some easy access to more exploits if things go sideways. It's not free, but it's the next best thing.

Yeah, Rhuul needs to make a second save. If he misses and someone has a shirt or folio re-roll that would help him. Sadly, I've all ready used mine :(

Congrats Rhuul. That first star is nice. I have been progressing slowly on the 2nd star probably still 4-5 away. I think Holman and his team have been suffering the longest through most of them. :-)

On the reroll front, If Eddies fails, I have saving finale, which I can use to give her a reroll so long as I keep the jokes up.

Maintaining inspire courage is a free action, so casting a spell wouldn't end it. However using a finale spell will end a performance, and if you like those spells (I do) then investing in the lingering performance feat is probably a sound investment.

It's a free action to maintian, but I thought you couldn't do other oral things while doing that.

I love tactical combat (I can’t deny it …)

But the great thing about the pbp medium is the chance to interact with others in a creative/fun way.

I have had a blast in many supposedly ‘dud’ scenarios because the group/GM dynamics just worked.

I will be driving all day with the family tomorrow to Florida, so posts will be shorter and I will likely miss Posting on Christmas. Enjoy the holidays, everyone...and be safe.
