GM Rinaldo |
Can't use diplomacy to befriend someone you've already intimidated. Besides, he seems pretty unwilling to believe you at this point.
"Hah! Lie all you want, it won't matter. Your precious captain is probably already dead by now."
Rhuul Irontoe |
"Tell us about this eternal youth that you think the villain has acquired somehow.." suggests Rhuul.
Herrick Whiteraven |
"I want to know about it all this to, but we will have to figure it out on the way. They are going to kill Balantiir and we can't waste another moment."
It makes sense that we probably need the information we are seeking, but Herrick would still press to go after the VC, what with the cultist insisting he "is probably dead by now." suggesting it is likely happening soon.
Garmit |
With a click and a nod, Garmit heads forward towards the front doors of the Lodge.
Taking 10 on Perception as he goes in case of further traps, before attempting to open the door.
Xichikitte |
Before we open the door, I have purchased some scrolls of Protection From Evil. They might come in handy. Let me know when you want it.
Xichi has 5 of them. He will save one for himself, use one for anyone who wants one, then renew Reduce Person, then Shield. After that he is ready for the door to be opened.
Wands 18 charges each.
Rhuul Irontoe |
"That would be handy, if we think there might be mind control going on.." agrees Rhuul.
Rhuul is happy to let the guard go, if he actually departs. We'll have to disarm etc him first
Before leaving, Rhuul checks the dead and unconscious guards for magical or other items that may be handy, or reveal more about them.
Princess Xen |
Nah. Xen is convinced he is fanatical. Can only let him go after all of this is over.
From behind the man Xen, still staring at her target. casts Charm Person.
DC 22 will save or be charmed for 10 hours.
Listen friend. Its unfortunate that we have had this misunderstanding. I think we should both take some cooling off time. Why don't you go some place where you can be alone to contemplate what has happened and how we might resolve our differences peacefully. Until morning should be enough time I think.
GM Rinaldo |
Will, bonus for currently being threatened: 1d20 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 5 = 25
"Don't try your magic on me, Pathfinder! Death to you all!"
---------
Two sphinx statues flank the approach to the main portico of the Pathfinder Lodge. The windowless, white limestone structure rises two-stories, surrounded on all sides by date palm trees, which stir softly in the nighttime breeze. Three copper-bound doors gleam in the light provided by two oil lamps hung from the portico’s columns.
As Garmit approaches the doors, he notices a faint trail of blood leading into the lodge.
Anyone doing anything else before opening the doors? Final disposition of the cultist?
Herrick Whiteraven |
With a wicked snap, Herrick lashes out with a fist to the side of the mans head in an effort to render him unconscious.
Coup de grace(non-lethal): 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5) + 2 = 8
The man was nearly dead before so he can't have too many hp even after I healed him previously for 13. Monk level for the unarmed damage of d6+1. I am considering him bound and on the ground with the manacles Herrick put on him before, being held helpless while we were interrogating him.
Xichikitte |
Who wants 1 minute of Protection Vs. Evil?
Rhuul Irontoe |
I'll take one
"Just make sure he doesn't die. He doesn't sound like an evil man to me, and those of his fellows... their deaths don't sit well on me. They were doing good work by the sounds of it, but in a poor way." sighs Rhuul.
Lin Kai |
Kai moves up beside Garmit, ready to give him support.
Herrick Whiteraven |
Herrick nods his understanding to Rhuul then checks to see if the man is in fact still alive.
If he is unconscious and alive, Herrick moves up closer to Garmit and Kai, but leaves them room to work and stays to the south of the main portico.
Xichikitte |
Xichi does not think the main fight will be on this floor, and holds off on his scroll.
PvE scrolls 4/5, 1 used on Rhuul.
Garmit |
Garmit also declines the scroll for now. "Maybe we'll still have a chance to get the jump on whoever's in there and can prepare ourselves then?"
GM Rinaldo |
You knock the cultist out and leave him bound in the garden to handle later. You open the doors to the lodge, and as you enter in you see signs of fighting and no evidence of the lodge's staff or junior agents.
Single doors lead north and sound toward other parts of the lodge, with double doors on the western wall heading into the common room and toward Balantiir's office. Above the western doors, Garmit notices another ward, similar to the one on the outer gate but not exactly the same.
I've moved Garmit and Kai into the foyer, with everyone else on the patio. The outer doors are open, all of the interior doors are closed. How do you want to proceed?
Xichikitte |
Xichi goes where Rhuul goes for now.
Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul moves into the room.
"Or we could go around the side..." he suggests, heading to the side door and looking through it.
Garmit |
"Taking the side doors sounds fine by me...oh, and don't waste your magic on a silly old trap, Princess." Garmit heads to the opposite doors to Rhuul, checking them out. "You head that way, I'll go this way? Meet you somewhere in the middle, or back here if it's a dead end?"
The rogue checks out the door to the left.
Take 10 Perception and Stealth (for a 35) once again.
Herrick Whiteraven |
Once he hears the plan to check the side doors, Herrick moves up and slips past Kai and the Princess to cover everyone.
It looks like he can see everyone reasonably well from this position.
GM Rinaldo |
Rhuul tries to open the northern door, and finds it not locked, but jammed. The mechanism to open the door has been damaged beyond repair - the door will have to be removed to fix it. He recalls from your prior visits that the stairs beyond lead to the vaults.
Garmit checks the southern door, and it opens into a small room containing the stairs up to the living quarters. A trail of blood goes up the stairs. The door into the small library is closed.
Garmit |
"Blood!" Garmit whispers back, pointing to the trail on the stairs. He then signals that he's going to follow the trail.
Heading on up the stairs, perceiving and stealthing as is his want.
Lin Kai |
Realising that he had used up its charge during the last combat, Kai pulls out a wand a lays a charge bon himself.
UMD, wand of HA: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27
Seeing Garmit going up the blood strewn stairs, Kai quickly presses his ears against the door to try to listen into the main hall. Assuming he hears nothing untoward, he quickly follows Garmit up.
perception, free inspiration: 1d20 + 17 + 1d8 ⇒ (6) + 17 + (6) = 29
Xichikitte |
Xichi brings up the rear after renewing from his wands.
GM Rinaldo |
Garmit moves silently up the stairs, and is greeted with a scene of carnage. The bodies of the entire staff and several new pathfinder agents have been tossed unceremoniously into the hallway here, as if to hide them from anyone who entered the lodge.
Kai listens at the central door, and thinks he hears a muffled yell from somewhere beyond.
Xichikitte |
Xichi casts his Protection From Evil scroll on himself and motions his readiness to continue.
Xichikitte |
Allow me to take a look.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
Garmit |
Garmit scampers down to the main door, ready to attempt to disable it if required and Xen hasn't already dispelled the magical ward.
Princess Xen |
Xen will try to dispel the ward, mostly because she is worried that the group may have taken too long searching the house and time might be a consideration.
Dispel Magic: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
GM Rinaldo |
Xichikitte examines the ward, and determines that it would curse anyone who passed who did not have the proper means to bypass it. While he studies it, Xen casts a spell, and the magic of the ward fades.
GM Rinaldo |
Garmit's take 10 is sufficient, so I wont wait for him to post.
Garmit feel comfortable that the door has no mundane traps.
Rhuul Irontoe |
"Onward and inward!" smiles Rhuul. He waits for the rest of the team to line up, unfurls his flag and then once everyone is ready, will throw open the door.
If anyone asks, he is happy to vanish someone first, but we all have spells running...
Lin Kai |
"Thank you, Princess." Kai nods to Xen, and as soon as the rest of the party is ready, he swings open the door and steps in, his longspear raised and ready.
GM Rinaldo |
Two fireplaces struggle to illuminate this large room, but still manage to highlight a woven tapestry of gold and blue silk dominating the west wall. A couple of damaged tables and broken or overturned chairs fill most of the eastern half of the room. In the northeast corner stands a decorative clay urn, while another lies smashed to the south. Burnished copper-bound doors etched with hieroglyphs mark exits along every wall.
Doors to Balantiir's office and quarters are marked.
Garmit |
Garmit makes his way over to the door to Balantiir's office, giving it a once over while Rhuul checks the room for magic.
Once everyone is ready to enter, he'll proceed to open the door (disabling or unlocking if needed).
Rinse and Repeat for Quarters if nothing untoward happens first.
Herrick Whiteraven |
"Kai heard a yell from in here. Be wary." Herrick says as he enters the room and stands near Kai.
He quickly takes in the room for threats of any kind, covering Garmit's approach to the office.
GM Rinaldo |
Xen, you said you advanced but didn't move your token. I'm moving you into the doorway of the room everyone is in, where you can cover with your crossbow.
I'm also moving Xichi to stand next to her, where he can see into the room.
As the group advances into the room, sections of the wall shimmer and more cultists step out! Two step into the foyer behind Xen and Xichi, and two more step out into the common room from either side.
I drew lines to show how they moved on the surprise round. They literally stepped out of the walls and ran around to get into position. Blue saw Kai's spear and used the corner of the wall for cover to get inside his reach.
Garmit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Herrick: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
Kai: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Xen: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Princess Xen |
Xen has 6 mirror images up. Can I get you to add your super cool images to her icon?
The princess looks indignant as the cultist step out, Stepping back she stares at yellow and yells at all the cultists. You are responsible for this? Oh, we shall make you pay!
She casts Blistering Invective, hitting all the cultists on the map. Each enemy that is intimidated take 1d10 fire damage and gets a reflex save or catches on fire. Note that some will be intimidated for more than a single round.
Intimidate Yellow: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (2) + 22 = 241d10 ⇒ 2 Reflex DC 19 or catch on fire.
Intimidate Orange: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (2) + 22 = 241d10 ⇒ 9 Reflex DC 19 or catch on fire.
Intimidate Blue: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 371d10 ⇒ 6 Reflex DC 19 or catch on fire.
Intimidate Red: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (13) + 22 = 351d10 ⇒ 6 Reflex DC 19 or catch on fire.
Intimidate Purple: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (4) + 22 = 261d10 ⇒ 9 Reflex DC 19 or catch on fire.
