Before Lhunk can even fully react to the skeleton's attack...Thaia steps around the corner and blows its spine apart!
COMBAT OVER...
As you all catch your breath, the celestial dog vanishes. With the skeletons silent, you can search the chamber at your leisure now...the corpse, it is revealed, is a pale-skinned, gaunt-looking man. On his body is a note that reveals plans to begin work on an army of undead with the "fish people" who frequent this cave...given the gashes to his throat and chest, it seems that his early experiments didn't go too well. You also find a quiver of arrows at his side (the bow was shattered in his struggle), and a large pearl in his pocket.

Lhunk

Blood trickling from his wounds, Lhunk looks about his belt then smile as he grabs a small stick wrapped in velvet. Taking it in one hand, the barbarian holds it up and coughs slightly before talking, "Lhunk needs help with peppermint stick to feel better. Who can use stick on Lhunk?"
Thaia Rossenvelt
|
To Lhunk "Normally, I reserve that sort of thing to an overseer or ship's boatswain, but if you give me a moment I will administer your corporal punishment--however, if this is some sort of cheap deviancy of yours, I shall not relent until you are rendered senseless." She whips the stick through the air viciously in a sharp figure-eight to get a feel for it.
Inspecting the pearl "Let me see that."

Thaia examines the pearl: it's a fairly ordinary one, albeit somewhat large. She guesses that it's worth at least several hundred gold pieces.
Bennybeck, peering into the passageway, sees nothing of immediate interest; it's quite narrow, and twists and turns. It does appear to be sloped gently upward, though--it might lead back to the surface.
Lhunk
|
Definitely a wand of Cure Light Wounds, haha.
A look of confusion spreads on Lhunk face as the mean lady babbles on with her big words. "That am healy stick. Lhunk don't know magics, but know most do." He then grins at the woman before starting to put dirt into the wounds to help staunch the blood flow.

Gasping slightly as the smell of peppermint fills the room, Lhunk's wounds seem to close up quite well. Taking the wand back, the man nods at Gunter then grins. "Lhunk glad you can use that. Maybe will learn to use someday. But now, Lhunk good for more fighting."

"Lead on."
GM Norv

Benny leads the way up the passageway, and it slopes up for hundreds of feet. After some time, though, you're able to see a faint light ahead, and then you realize that you can hear a distant voice singing. It's Janira! She has a pretty good voice, too...coming around an end, you find yourself on a ledge not far from where you entered the caves, albeit higher up. Night has fallen over Kortos Isle, and the valley is bathed in moonlight and starlight.
Janira, hearing you, looks up, and grins in surprise. "You're back! The caves come all the way back here?! Did you find any gillmen? Any ruins? Is there more to see, or have you scouted the entire system?"
GM Norv
|
Sounds like we now want to go back to check the other cave...since it doesn't matter which of the two known paths you take, I'll just move us forward!
Janira grins. "Eager Pathfinders! My favorite. Well, I got no problem waiting for you all here. Just yell out if you need anything, but it sounds like your Confirmation is going well!"
You make your way back into the caves, and now that you know the path, it doesn't take too long for you to make your way to the chamber with the sacred pool and the model of Absalom. The gillman is still there, and now is standing on the surface of the water itself, the surface just barely kissing the soles of his bare feet. "Ah, you return," he says, not looking too terribly pleased at the fact. "Does this mean that there are no more dead things in those caves?"
Lhunk
|
Nodding, Lhunk smiles before speaking, "Maybe other ways help out fish people as well. Lhunk shall explore for you!" The man then hastily makes his way to the other tunnel that he doesn't remember going through, and heads towards the western section of the caverns.

The gillman merely smiles, for the moment. "Go and see what you discover in the western caves. If all goes well there, my people will indeed owe a debt to you." Sitting on the surface of the water, he closes his eyes and assumes a meditative pose.
The tunnel down which Lhunk proceeds is narrower than the one on the far side of the cavern, only six feet wide at its broadest. Several small crevices too narrow to explore branch off on your downward-sloping, thirty-minute trek, and the persistent glow of the bluish fungus lights your way deeper below the Kortos Mounts. After thirty minutes, the tunnels broaden to reveal a shallow river that bisects an immense tunnel running to the north and south. To the east, a small passage exits the chamber at a steep incline, and two short, reptilian humanoids with scaled skin, snouts filled with tiny teeth, and long tails stand at the base of the incline, looking upward and muttering to each child other in what sounds like Draconic.
How are you guys approaching? And what are you doing for light, since the fungus provides only dim light?

The little lizard men turn, hearing your footsteps, and let out a series of high-pitched yaps as they reach for their slings!
COMBAT! ROUND ONE
As the creatures go for their slings, Francis, Gunter, Benny, Gratus, and Lissaya spring into action!
Those party members are up first! Remember that the area is only dimly lit, so unless Gratus or Thaia (or someone else with a light source) approach them, attacks have a 20% Miss chance. The stream on the map is shallow; it costs two squares of movement to move into a square of water.
With Lissaya's help, everyone can see the trap.

ROUND ONE (cont'd)!
As Lissaya and her bird flap their way forward, Gratus emerges from the cave and summons a celestial eagle in a burst of light! The creature swoops down onto the nearer lizard-thing with a shriek, and brings it to the ground with its claws in its neck. The other one shrieks in fear.
Francis, Gunter, and Benny (if he chooses to re-enter initiative) are up!

ROUND ONE (cont'd)
