Haris Hawkson |
”Alright, tell the others the side door is open, sod off for few minutes, then come on back”, Haris carefully steps inside.

also, Trap Spotter (Ex): Whenever a rogue with this talent comes within 10 feet of a trap, she receives an immediate Perception skill check to notice the trap. This check should be made in secret by the GM.
Bizzle Goodwager |
Assuming that we are going to enter thru the side door now, Bizzle finishes with his haggling and accepts "defeat". Very well, I could have been persuaded to having my friend consider a larger offer, but we'll just have to deal with the consequences of his failure. Bizzle will then give a sympathetic look toward his party and walk away.
Hawkwren Agricola |
Hawkwren holds his hands out and shrugs. "Alright boys. I understand and no hard feelings. Wish I could lined your pockets a little, but a little now against losing a steady income is quite legitimate. Good evening to you." Hawkwren says, then strolls off to the north a couple blocks before heading east, doubling back and meeting up with the others. "Now what? I ahve two elixirs that aids one in stealthy movements, and a potion to make one invisible." He says, taking a mental inventory.
Aod the Witchchild |
Aod directs his companions to quickly join them at the side door. He follows Haris in, but gestures to those not disguised to stay to the side as the inner door is opened. "Let me take the lead." He whispers. "Haris, try that wand again, or give it to someone who can use it."
Aod will open the inner doors, but in such a way that if anyone is inside, they will only see him.
Henry Flaxseed |
Henry leaves his trusty dinosaur tied up outside while he follows the others in. He stays near the entrance to act as a lookout.

Hawkwren's eyes widen in alarm at Thekk's sneeze. Shaking his head, he quickly pads into the warehouse, looking for the crate.

Waiting for Haris's roll, but proceeding for now.
Having found a way inside the warehouse, your group finds itself in the difficult task of identifying the boxes containing what you seek. Luckily, Hawkwren has a keen eye and is able to spot three ironbound wooden crates marked with a seal of Taldan origin along with an inscription written with chalk, reading Property of Lord Minovitas. The crates are unlocked, and indeed contain the paintings you're looking for.
Meanwhile, Aod hears the two guards from the other side of the wall. "Hey Rabe, did you hear that sound? It sounded like sneezing." The other guard answers something unintelligible, but the kensai hears the gate being opened, and has only a few seconds to react.
Haris Hawkson |
Haris quickly looks at the painting and changes himself into Lord Minovitas. "Get rid of that disguise" he tells Aod.

Aod the Witchchild |
Haris is disguised as Lord Minovitas. Aod and Thekk took no part in the conversation at the front door. The rest of the party looks to be somewhat deeper in the warehouse. Any chance they aren't spotted yet?
Aod pretends to be an Ulfen guard for "Lord Minovitas".
"You speakin like that to a lord?" He growls, giving the two his best intimidating glare. "Your boss knew we were comin for the paintings, said he'd leave the side door open for us. Not sure he really trusts his men. Somethin about being short on payroll?"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Haris Hawkson |
Haris activates an everlasting torch as he stands on top of the crates as Lord Minovitas, then in deepest voice he can muster, "You'll wish there were one more Hell to hide after I'm through with you! I am Lord Minovitas and I'll have you hanged for insolence and incompetence in guarding my precious cargo! My paintings - unlocked! You sods better have a good explanation, how do I know no one has tampered with them?! I should have my men cut you down on the spot!! "
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
GM Lithrac |
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
A bit scared of Aod, they nonetheless take some time to observe "Lord Minovitas"'s face, then nod. "Mighty apologies, m'lord. We dinnae know 'twas you. We'll resume our duties, if ye dinnae mind."
And with that, they turn tails and hastily depart. You easily open the crates and find the paintings you're looking for.
Alright, fun time ahead! Please describe - as much in detail as possible - what you are doing and how you are altering the paintings. Unless you propose a very special move (which is more than welcome of course!), the rolls should be Disable Device, Sleight of Hand, or a relevant Craft/Profession. Only one check may be attempted per painting.
Henry Flaxseed |
Henry lets out a chuckle to both suggestions. "These are fine suggestions, what, but I like the "Lord's" suggestion," Henry says pointing at Haris, "We need to embarrass him as much as possible and putting him in drag will certainly cause a stir!"
Bizzle Goodwager |
I agree! Make it happen! Oh, how I wish I had the artistic talent for such things. Bizzle giggles with glee at the whole idea. I say, it is good to see a dwarf with a bit of a sense of humor! Bizzle looks at Thekk with a little bit of a surprised look. However I dare say I'd rather you keep your trousers on! Haha!
Henry Flaxseed |
Henry holds out the brushes and paints he bought and offers them to the party. "Well, who wants to make the first stroke, what?"
Henry bought paints before we came here (essentially mwk tools for +2 to Craft (painting). He'll let someone else use them if anyone wants to take a crack at it. Maybe we can all aid one person.
Haris Hawkson |
"-and fornicating with Azmodeus. Here, I'll pose. Aod, you be Azmodeus"

Aod the Witchchild |
Aod chuckles and shakes his head, but assumes the position. "Just don't try to feed me any cheese." He then makes a couple suggestions of his own. "Put a tattoo of a succubus on his arse. Also, I think we might look good atop a pile of defeated Mendevian crusaders."
Hawkwren Agricola |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Forgot you could use Disable
"Hey, I do have a thought. What if we make a few precise cuts in the canvas, giving the man's..."member" some dimension? Maybe the monkeys too....."
That ought to be a good use of Disable!
Henry Flaxseed |
Henry will pass around his paint set and help add a few splotches himself.
Craft (painting) aid: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
"By Shelyn! I've never been good at art! More of an appreciator and patron, what!"
GM Lithrac |
Hilarity ensues as you all contribute one way or another to the magnum opus of Lord Minovitas's upcoming show! Two of the six paintings are quickly replaced with the commissioned portraits, yet the four other ones take a bit more time.
One of the portraits - where Lord Minovitas stands proudly over a dead fiend - is punctured very accurately by Hawkwren to ensure everyone can see the Lord's altered manhood in a very awkward situation! It is also partly repainted by Henry with little success, as the halfling's work is blotchy but certainly colorful. Aod's suggestive pose is the final touch, turning the work of art into something Absalom will likely remember for decades!
Also remember that Lady Morilla told you to prefer altering portraits rather than destroying them, via erase for example. I'll rule that you haven't used the scrolls yet, feel free to let me know what you do with the other three paintings. If you wish to use the scrolls anyway that's fine, but I just wanted to give you a not-so-subtle reminder to ensure that you can fulfill your mission as well as you possibly can! Plus, your ideas are hilarious, keep them coming!
Henry Flaxseed |
Yeah, lets say we altered the existing ones rather than erased them completely.
"One of them needs to show Lady Morilla in a glorious pose on the battlefield so that everyone knows who was the true hero of the Crusade in the name of Taldor!" Henry suggests. "Let's make sure we add the Lady's paintings in to the collection."
She displays two paintings. One is a fairly realistic depiction of Lady Morilla mustering soldiers, and the other shows Henry Flaxseed battling a demon.
We're obviously not painters here. My suggestion is that we slip those two in and make one more ridiculous one.
Bizzle Goodwager |
Probably a good idea.
Bizzle, with his background in gambling, will suggest the party create one with the Lord playing a card game with goblins or orcs or some other evil but stupid creature, think of the dogs playing poker ones, except that our Lord is getting beaten soundly by his opponents, or is throwing a fit after losing a large sum of money.
Henry Flaxseed |
"I like your thinking Aod! Very much against idealistic nobility, what!"
Bizzle Goodwager |
Well, maybe he could be gambling with the big bag of taxes and losing it all... Bizzle seems disappointed that his idea didn't pass muster.
Hawkwren Agricola |
Hawkwren nods in agreement. "Yes, it reminds of the political cartoons they nail to the posting poles back in Augustana. Minovitas should be fat and bloated and the commoners should be thin and downtrodden!"
Aod the Witchchild |
Aod considers Bizzle's words. "Good idea, let's try to put gambling in there too. Maybe a few starving peasants watching him dice with bags labeled 'taxes' while getting drunk on Qadiran wine."
Aod signs this one "Grandmaster Minovitas".
Sleight of Hand Aid: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
GM Lithrac |
Yes, I assumed you had switched the two commissioned portraits from Lady Morilla already. Let's call them #1 and #2. #3 was the punctured one, helped with Henry's colorful smudges and Aod's posing for him. Three painting remains at this stage.
Ideas are still being gathered about the fourth portrait, one involving Lord Minovitas with a glorious aura. Aod starts altering the painting, but someone needs to put the ideas into place.
The last two paintings are as follows. One displays Lord Minovitas shaking hands with Queen Galifrey -Mendev's rightful ruler- and on the last one the pompous lord cleaves through a rift representing the Worldwound with an oversized greatsword.
