You approach the doors... wights first. Seeing nothing amiss on the doors, Necress orders the wights to open them. Beyond, you see a rather horrifying room.

Whatever purpose this vaulted, brick-lined chamber may have once served, today it is obviously the inner sanctum of some depraved cult. Unnerving, spiky runes have been painted on the brick walls with blood, between which dozens of mutilated birds—gulls, falcons, ravens, and a particularly large number of doves—have been impaled. The foul stink of rotting meat emanates from these grisly trophies. Opposite the only visible entrance, a jagged boulder with a bloodstained cloth draped over it serves as an altar, several fly-covered, foul-smelling lumps of meat siting atop it. The wall just beyond the altar has been painted to depict a single curved white feather sitting in a pool of blood. To either side of this symbol yawn archways set with barred doors, turning the alcoves beyond into prison cells.

In a cell off to the side of the shrine there's a young man in tattered Sarenite robes. She grabs the bars and speaks to Arion. "Help me! This woman with a gargoyle captured me and brought me here; they're going to sacrifice me! Please, I think there are more cultists about!"

Waki, are you including your +2 from your Masterwork Thieve's tool into your disable device roll? Otherwise with some guidance from your companions, it takes you a couple of minutes of work to pick open the lock.

Finally freed from the bars that held him, he introduces himself to your group, "Its good to be free, as I said, a foul women and her Gargoyle captured me as I walked this morning, I was terrified," Looking around at your heavily armed group, "I'm sure you are all better with a blade than I but if you could spare a weapon, I'd hate to just be deadweight if the cultists come back,"

A torrent of water emerges from Allanen's hand, knocking the young spear wielding man down! Sputtering, nostrils flared in anger, eyes filled with murder, he'll stab up, thrusting his spear right into Arion's groin.

Necress does not need to hear to know they have been betrayed. With a mental command, the wights both move forward to begin tearing at the prone man, while the oracle herself steps back and casts a spell which envelopes the man's spear in flame.

Energy Drain:
This attack saps a living opponent’s vital energy and happens automatically when a melee or ranged attack hits. Each successful energy drain bestows one or more negative levels (the creature’s description specifies how many). If an attack that includes an energy drain scores a critical hit, it bestows twice the listed number of negative levels. Reflex Save to drop the Spear: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 While he didn't drop the spear in time, it seems the burning metal had no effect on him!

However the wights do provide enough of an advantage for Jirelle to step in and score a brutal slash on him, however even with that crit, only about half the damage went through.

Piecing together, whatever he really is must have some sort of DR 10 and that he has immunity to fire. He may not actually be human
