From afar, Grimbli lobs acid at the next scorpion, while Fluffy moves in for the attack, catching the scorpion between its fangs.

Nestezuk's glaive scratches the cave wall, allowing the scorpion to slither up to him. Nestezuk manages to evade the claws of the creature, and - even more importantly - the poisonous stinger. Fluffy's opponent also tries to bring his stinger down, but only manages to pinch the tiger in the fur.

Sorry, DMK, no - Fluffy's AC is 17. I've added his info to his prompt.
Grimbli moves into the room and, seeing a target, conjures another blob of acid into existence and sends it flying in the scorpion's direction.

Grimbli lobs some concentrated acid at a scorpion, causes a sizzling sounds where it hits, only to see Frost finish off the creature with as swift a stroke as before.
Fluffy bites back at the scorpion, but again snaps only air the dry cave air. With claws fare much better though, and the rips deep gashes through the carapace of the arthropod.

Vague Henri |
Henri follows the rush into the cave, searching for a target and releasing an arrow if one is there!
Ranged attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 6 (Precise shot, point-blank shot and guidance)
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 (Point-blank shot)
Maybe the critter is already dead, so Henri didn't really have a shot after all %-)
DM Kludde |
With that forceful blow, Nestezuk splits the head of the scorpion. The carcass, twitching, no longer poses a threat.
Combat over!
The papers chronicle the personal exploits of one Selmius Foster, a name that most Pathfinders recognise as a famous member of the Society. Most of Foster’s more infamous adventures appear here in varying amounts of detail, but it is evident there is another investigation he had been pursuing before he died: the lost records of a Society agent named Eylysia.(His notes will be on the Map page, as soon as I get the chance to put them up) Furthermore, someone called 'Adolphus' made additional notes.
Skarn Moonbane |
Skarn limps to reach the notes and reads them eagerly.
"I wonder if Dreng knew what we'd find, and wanted us to be here in the first place. It certainly sounds like him."
Vague Henri |
"We should report this to Dreng, and tell him our intentions. I propose we visit the mausoleum first, as this is the most easily located and direct clue. These false names must also be clues - perhaps they are anagrams for local landmarks or places?" Henri looks at the letters and compares them to possible locations in town.

DM Kludde |
By the time party gets back to where they met Dreng, he is no longer there. A different beggar has taken his place, and bares a row of rotten teeth as he grins and says Your beggar is in another Lodge, gentleman.
Back at the Grand Lodge, Dreng is surprised Who'd have thought! 4331 Merfandel!
You should investigat these notes. It is important that Pathfinders respect the finds and claims of their colleagues, and this exciting mystery is yours to pursue.
Please hand me any documents not related to Eylysia, so that I can begin assigning other agents to decrypt and collate the contents for proper study.
DM Kludde |
Created in 4330 ar, the Wall of Names resides on the grounds of the Grand Lodge in Absalom. The monument is a curving wall of black glass that stands atop a small hill at the western edge of the lodge’s grounds. Trees surround the hill, providing ample shade and privacy for those visiting the wall to remember fallen comrades. Carved into the wall are the name and date of death of every Pathfinder killed in the course of duty since the wall’s construction, and most entries also include a sentence or two summarizing either the agent’s greatest accomplishments or how she died.
Bodham the Bleaker
Went to visit Pharasma and overstayed his welcome.
Vesparo Dikanadra

The three names mentioned in the note are also present on the wall (See handout)

"Took the secrets to the grave... literally perhaps?" Frost also suggests looking into the stonemasons resting place.

The underlined portions of the epitaphs seem to be oblique references to those who failed the test of the Starstone. The Shrine of the Failed pays homage to these failed aspirants
~Frost~ |
Paladins spend little time on scholarly pursuits it seems, and Frost is no exception.
Nestezuk Gnorth |
"First Mausoleum, now those... Those three agents are dead, might be it's hint for us to check their graves, while we go to the cemetery?" asked Nestezuk
He isn't bright minded guy at all :)
Vague Henri |
"These underlined portions of the epitaphs seem to be oblique references to those who failed the test of the Starstone. The Shrine of the Failed pays homage to these failed aspirants...let's go there and see if we can link these names..." Henri says.

DM Kludde |
You want to go to the mausoleum next?
Hmm?: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Details left by Selmius Foster indicate the location of Arkath’s burial site: a plot of land in Eastgate operated by priests of Pharasma.
A fence surrounds the grounds of the necropolis, but the gates are open to those paying their respects. The doors to Arkath's mausoleum, however, are sealed with sturdy stone slabs. A cleric of Pharasma roams the grounds.
Grimbli Fizzwhizzle |
Grimbli stares at the epitaphs for a moment, but when Henri speaks up, he smiles, saying, "Oh, right. Of course."
Grimbli doesn't have much of a preference of where to head. He will be thrilled to make some forward progress regardless of their destination.
~Frost~ |
Mausoleum it is!
Frost spends some time looking around at the stone slabs and surrounds, for anything out of the ordinary.
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Skarn Moonbane |
Agreed on the Mausoleum.
As the Pathfinders arrive on site, Skarn hails the Pharasmin priest.
"The Lady of Grave's blessing on you, good man. Me and my companions would like to pay our respect in the mausoleum. Would that be possible? We'll be respectful, that goes without saying, and the wolf will remain outside, I promise."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Mogall Dark |
Mogall agrees to the Mausoleum as the next stop on the tour, "what do we have here?" The small Wayang cast a detect magic before entering the necropolis, but uses it to study the mausoleum.
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
DM Kludde |
The female priest listen to the words of Skarn, softly confirming with an I see.. and a nod every now and then. The dead deserve their rest. The remains should remain undisturbed, while the soul roams the hall of Pharasma.
So long as you behave respectfully, I can allow you to enter the mausoleum to honour the dead. I must ask that you do not disturb the inside in any way.
She leads the adventurers in. The inside of the mausoleum is plain, with the remains of Arkath as only noteworthy feature. The skull has a golden coin clenched between his teeth.
The coin radiates a faint divination aura.
Skarn Moonbane |
Skarn whispers to his companions "I'll create a diversion, snatch the coin as soon as her eyes are on me."
While his companions are "honoring the dead", Skarn walks to the priestess and tries to engage in a religious debate. "Honored Pharasmin, a moment of your time if you please. You may recognize on my neck the holy symbol of Groetus, the god of the End Times, which I'm a devout of, though not a priest. I hoped we could confront our views about the Judgement and the End Times, for I always enjoy sharing views and confronting them with mine."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
If she accepts, Skarn will offer to walk the grounds alongside her and discuss theological matters, offering an open-minded yet devout position. He often nods at the priestess's words, suggesting he agrees, while he takes pleasure in exposing his own view of why and how of the End Times.
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
DM Kludde |
I see... the priest says, as she nods to Skarn. Are you finished then? I would gladly converse with you. It is my duty, though, to be guardian of this graveyard. There is time for everything.
She does not want to go with Skarn, but there is enough diversion to allow someone to snatch the coin.
With a stealth check or sleight of hand check
The coin is a Pathfinder's Coin
This apparently simple coin, usually styled to resemble ancient currency, hides intricate gold and platinum wires within. This matrix, carefully modeled after fragmentary Azlanti coins, causes the Pathfinder’s coin to rise an inch into the air and slowly spin in place if placed atop a wayfinder. In addition, when levitating above a wayfinder, the coin can be given a message of 25 words or fewer. This message repeats in the speaker’s voice the next time the coin is floated above a wayfinder. Only one message may be stored at a time, and once it is triggered, the message is expended and a new one may be recorded.
Mogall Dark |
Mogall warns Henri "there is magic on the coin"
The Wayang wizard tries to identify the magics function.

Skarn Moonbane |
Skarn nods gravely, accepting the priestess's choice. He will make good on his proposal, though, and spends a bit of time debating with the Pharasmin.
Skarn is actually really interested in it!
DM Kludde |
Henri manages to nab the coin, even though Mogall cannot put a finger on what it is. Once the party is done, Skarn spends a significant amount of time discussing theology with the priest, while the rest of the party waits in the cold, damp graveyard.
