Is Theodic going up the side, up the anchor chain, or waiting for the grappling line? OR do you have more than one line? Only room for one person a round on the rope.

![]() |

Gregor waited until all were ready, then cast his Obscuring Mist spell to allow them to proceed to the ship unseen. The fog sprang up a little faster than it might have naturally. He could only hope that no one aboard ship noticed anything unusual.
climb,Ironclaw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
climb,Gregor: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
With a command in druidic, Gregor sent the bear climbing up the side of the ship, his claws digging into the wood as if Ironclaw was climbing a particularly large tree. Gregor himself tried to get a grasp on the rope or the anchor chain, but couldn't get a decent grip.

![]() |

Gregor tries to climb the anchor line. However it is slippery with algae and he quickly looses his grip, landing with a splash in the sea.
Given where Ironclaw is, he could try and climb the back of the ship which looks easier, or the side.
And can someone post for Zolaffer?
Status, bold may post
Peter - climbing (even with a six, that is okay with the grappling line)
Zolaffer -
Theodic - delaying
Gregor -falling
iron claw -climbing
Ledt - summoning

![]() |

The side of the ship is much harder than DC9 :-(
Zolaffer falls into the water between the rowboat and the ship. Luckily he is not alone, as Gregor is already there.

![]() |

If you were wanting to wait for the grappling line, that is fine, just confirm it and I'll leave you in the boat.

![]() |

Moving things forward.. on a one, iron fang tries the easier looking back
climbs where: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Iron Fang tries climbing the side, near Gregor. Even his claws are not good enough to climb the slippery and overhung side of the ship and he falls into the water.
As the splash of pathfinders arriving in the water carries up to the deck, a magnificent eagle appears over the top of one pirates, serving as a good distraction.

Well damn. Server ate my post. Oh well
Gregor and Ironcalw splash their way out of the water and back into the boat, waiting for their turn to climb.

![]() |

Peter finishes to climb on the ship and already part toward one of the pirates, with his sword into fists.

Still need a climb check for Theodic to make sure he gets up. Gregor still has a standard action available if he wanted to use it.
Also, someone can roll attacks for the celestial summoned eagle, otherwise I'll do it tonight.

![]() |

Can Gregor use a standard action to hold the rope or anchor chain to aid one of the others? If so, that's what he will do. aid: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
climb, ironclaw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
While Grgor was waiting for his turn, Ironclaw shuffled to the rear of the boat to try and ascend from the easier position.

![]() |

Going up the grappling hook is only a DC5 check, so a 7 makes it.
Ironclaw climbs the back, almost as easily as Theodic does the chain. At the top however he trips slightly on a wire hung across the back..
Meanwhile, on deck, Peter makes a mighty slash that surely would have removed the mans head if it had hit. Instead the blow is poorly aimed and makes a small hole in the deck.
Reflex save for Ironclaw please

Gregor waited his turn at the anchor chain or the rope, finally getting a decent grasp on one and making his way topside. As he waited, though, he heard a yelp from his friend and called out encouragement.
"Fight the good fight, Ironclaw. I'll be with you in a moment!"
The bear, fighting a strong opponent, went for the man's legs. His growls were more vicious than his attacks, though.

Peter spits a lot of blood after the pirate's attack but don't lose the line.

The fight starts to turn in the favor of the pathfinder team.
Granama Krauss is revealed to be a bit of a brawler as a pirate head goes flying over the side of the ship.
Theodic and Ironclaw try to double-team the man who appears to be the captain, while a demonic looking large horse(!) appears behind the man.
Gregor then arrives on deck, further helping the pathfinder numbers

"Granama Krauss is revealed to be a bit of a brawler as a pirate head goes flying over the side of the ship" - LMAO!
Peter will use his "soul drinker" trait as an immediate action, to gain temporary HP equal to the HD of a defeated foe for 1 minute, ok?

Thanks for the NPCing, it was good :)

Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

Gregor was on the rope this round. Mount appears, but it is a riding mount, not trained for combat and not currently being attacked. 'Mount' may be used as a distraction (and is likely to work well that way) but not as a 'summon monster to attack your enemies' type creature. Do you have an alternative action for Ledt?
Sure, Peter gets one temporary hp. Might be very handy as by my calculations that kind of doubles his!

![]() |

Ledt claps to Gregor and then climbs behind him as far as he can.

![]() |

As there is probably little Zolffer can do usefully in the boat, I'll delay him. I'm going to assume you find a second grapnel in the second boat so Ledt can climb up and get into the fun as well.

The captain, somewhat distraught at being surrounded changes his tune a little.
"No need to be hasty now!"
He dances a complex rythem on the deck and suddenly vanishes. In the swirling mist it appears their may be a trap door that he was standing upon.

"Fast! Get him before he throws away anything!" the small halfling takes his mount bridle and pushes it through the trapdoor once anyone opens it.

Gregor pushed past Ledt and called to Ironclaw as he dropped down the trapdoor. The bear, whining slightly at the drop, followed his master.
Dropping through the trapdoor and then stepping aside for bear.

![]() |

Without thinking twice, Peter takes his greatsword from the floor and jumps through the trapdoor.

![]() |

Just a quick note, infernal healing heals one a round, so if Peter jumps down straight away... he'll be on at best two or three hp +1 temporary. If you take the minute or so to heal, he'll be on full. Also, the mount won't fit through a trapdoor. It did scare off the captain at a critical time though.

![]() |

Ledt used his Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Peter, not infernal healing. And thank you, @Ledt!

![]() |

Fair call, there is still six rounds worth of trying the wand before that curing gets out of it though.
Jumping down the hatch heads the PF team, where they find the captain looking a little better with his pockets full of trickets. The small window behind him is open and he appears on the verge of escape!

Ironclaw did not understand the man's words, and he didn't care. His master had set him upon the task of stopping this man, and so he would. Teeth bared, he lunged at the man's leg, aiming for the fat chunk of flesh on the inside, where the most muscle and fat was. Claws that would one day be as long as a man's fingers lashed out at the end of muscled forelegs, their shorter lengths no less deadly.
Beside him, his master used a sharp stick to prod at the man. That was good. The master was a tool user, and it was right that he hit the bad man with his tools. Magic was better, of course, but the bear had learned by now that his master's magic, while powerful, was very limited, and they had done a lot today already.

"We just need the tablets Darsielle! Give them to us and you can run away as you wish!" shouts Ledt to the pirate.

"Is that Ledt? Do you think this guy knows about the part where Ledt is totally murder-crazed and loves to electrocute people until they are dead?" shouts Zolaffer from above the trap door to no particular effect.
"I, however, prefer the caustic to the fulminant."
Mr. Nalu prepares to fire off an acid dart, but holds back when the pirate seems to surrender.
Are we totally out of combat, or can Zolaffer prepare to fire if this guy does anything untoward? Also, is it unreasonable to assume that from what appears to be directly above this guy via the trap hole, the guy does not have cover? Just in case. Asking for a friend. You know.
Also...

The cabin is pretty crowded, so he does still have cover in there.
Happy to have you ready an action. That is exactly what he has at the moment :-)
As for sensing motives, yeap, he seems pretty keen on keeping his skin intact and numbers do seem to be against him.
"Ahh yes... well there is a little.. problem with the front storage room. When we got holed below the water line, there were some people in there. They kind of didn't die properly. So we have them locked away in there for the moment until we can find a cleric. Now you want the tablets, and I want the walking dead off my ship. So for the moment our stars align. I'll swear on the devil himself to let you leave with the tablets if you spare me and can deal with the trouble at the front. Will you swear to let me go?"
