The other woman begins shepherding the children into the northernmost two bedrooms, while Mireille stands and moves into the southern one. She indicates the door, and most of you follow. Two Blades moves to open the door a crack, peeking out into the street.

While there is no one on the street outside, he catches a glimpse of someone standing around the corner around the edge of the building.

THUMP THUMP THUMP! A loud pounding on the door makes Mireille jump.

"Open for inspection, in the name of Archheathen Lord Kettermaul Charthagnion! Do not resist or you will be arrested!" comes a shout through the door.

Everyone is up, in intiative order. You can post out of order btu I will execute the orders in initiative, so dont' assume that thigns have already happened until I post a summary of the round.

I got you Sab. Jinsa will spend a standard action to activate Mage Armor from his scroll. Move action to the square indicated, trying to stay out of line of sight of the bad guy.

Jinsa opens the scroll and speak softly to himself as he reads the words. "Vers di wer aujir darastrix. Troth ve." He then shoves the parchment back into his robes.

Two Blades held his finger to his lips before slipping forward to see what was around the corner, blade ready to be bloodied.

Round 2 (partial)

Two Blades moves to along the building, blades drawn. As he approaches the corner, he can see that there is a city guard standing there, just around the corner. He holds a guisarme in one hand, but has a sap out in the other hand. His chain shirt is partially covered by the red-and-black livery of Corentyn's guard. You both see each other at the same instant. "Stop, in the name of Law!" he shouts at Two Blades, stepping out into the open and brandishing his sap.

There is the sound of running, and a second guard appears around the corner, dressed similarly to the first. He advances to Two Blades and swings his sap menacingly. "Drop your weapons - NOW!"

Due to situation change, we'll let everyone else re-declare their actions. At this point, everyone except Two Blades is still inside the bedroom.

Sab'Sera, Thordir, Fethril, Abelia, Yen Jinsa are up!

Previews to make sure everything is formatted correctly, sees that GM updated 47 seconds earlier, goes ahead and rewrites everything she just wrote. Yay.

Abelia runs out of the door and sees the two guards already charging Two Blades and she draws her daggers out of her seemingly bottomless pockets. She targets the nearest guard (both are 30ft away, so eh, your choice) and whips one at him.

To hit @ 30ft away:: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

Not entirely sure how you want me to format this - never done it in PBP before, so if you'd like me to change something, just let me know. Btw, the bonus comes from Point-Blank Shot.


Hah - sorry about that.

Looks good. I tend to use the dice title as something like Dagger, point-blank shot: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10 since then it's super clear what bonuses are included. Don't forget you get your Dex bonus to hit with ranged weapons!

Since it's a critical threat, we'll use my roll above as your confirmation roll (he said before previewing, so I don't know if it's a hit or not).

"Trust me, Fethril, if one dagger actually kills a legitimate guard, I was most certainly not their biggest problem!" She yells back, already preparing herself for a retreat.

I'm not one for violence like this...especially if it would damage our reputation at such an early point...but at the same time, I would imagine being injured or incapacitated this early would be especially bad for anyone actually suited for combat in this group. Meaning not me. Something gives me the feeling that rest of our journey will be anything but easy...and if we get arrested at this point I'm faaaairly sure that will do some damage to the Society as well...so...

Thordir snaps out of his reverie of gazing at Mireille as the guard's voice interrupts the moment. His face suddenly goes dark as he turns to her, My lady, please, go with my friends downstairs. Your life is far more valuable than any of ours. We will join you shortly if we can. With that, he turns and rushes out the door. As he arrives beside his elven brother-in-arms, he shouts in a voice laced with fury, Drop your weapons and leave this place. You are outnumbered and outmatched! Flee, or die!

Sab runs after Two Blades and moves to his side, drawing her shortsword. She look what her friends do and waits.

When some of her friends attacks the guards, with a fast movement she strikes with her sword to the nearest guard.

Sab'Sera runs up to support Two Blades, sword at the ready.

Thordir instructs Mireille to go out the secret door with his friends (I think that's what you meant, there is no "downstairs"), then runs out the front door to come up behind the two guards.

Fethril also runs out the front door.

Abelia hurls a dagger at the first (red) guard, slicing a red curve along the edge of his neck. dagger, damage, point blank shot: 1d4 + 0 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 0 + 1 = 2 The man grunts in surprise, but doesn't fall.

Sab'Sera takes her cue and stabs at the (pink) guard, but his armor blocks the blade. "I'll have you for that, child!" he snarls, swinging his sap and hitting her for 4 points of non-lethal damage.
sap, readied action: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25damage (non-lethal): 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

There is the sound of running from the eastern edge of the building, and a third guard (yellow) appears around the corner. He sees the drawn blades and drops his sap, taking up his guisarme in both hands.

By the way, the guards had already acted, so they weren't flat-footed.

"Woops!" Two Blades said as he ran right into one of the guards. He was not sure if the group was going to flee or fight but his thoughts were quickly answered as a dagger flew through the air. Stepping inside the polearm before it could be used, he slashed at the guard with the short sword.

Now that I was able to get the map to come up, 5' step to new location and ready to attack pink guard once Sab'Sera gets into flank.

Two Blades stabs the (pink) guard in front of him, delivering a minor wound.

The red guard steps back to bring his guisarme to bear on Two Blades. "Cute knife you got there, boy... let me show you a man's weapon!" guisarme: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1) + 3 = 6 Two Blades takes a serious wound from the weapon.

The pink guard also steps back, putting his back to the wall, and tries to trip Sab'Sera with his guisarme. CMB trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 Sab-Sera's legs are pulled out from under her and she falls prone.

Thordir, Fethril, Abelia, Sab'Sera, Yen Jinsa are up!

Move to indicated square and standard to cast Ghost Sound of a young female calling desperately for help far behind yellow guard. DC 11; will disbelief (if guard has spent round going out of his way to doubt the reality of the sound).

Round 3 (continued)

Thordir rushes forward, his eyes bloodshot and pulsing with fury. "Fine, you don't want to walk away now? Then don't blame us if you never walk again!" He charges toward the nearest guard (red), cocks back his arm, and slams a gauntleted fist into the man's chest. The man grunts in pain, looking down at the row of neat holes in his armor.

Fethril summons the wonder of Nethys. "Oh All-Seeing Eye, please grant me the knowledge of the human form in order to heal this wound. And if you can make him a bit better at fighting, well that would not hurt." He steps forward and reaches around the corner to grip Two Blades, healing his wounds. (Two Blades has cover from you, but I'm pretty sure he'd let you do this!)

Abelia calls out, making eye contact with the nearest guard. "Retreat now! There's no sense in continuing this, you're at a severe disadvantage and there are real threats you should be attending to!" Suddenly, a young girl's shout comes from around the corner, calling for help. The (yellow) guard's head turns, conflicted and indecisive.

Sab'Sera rolls on the ground away from the nasty guisarme, but the guard sees it coming and jabs her with the spear head. guisarme, prone: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 = 20damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 = 8 - hit for 8 damage (lethal)

Yen Jinsa speaks to the nearest guard, "This blood shed is unnecessary". As he lifts his hand to cast a spell, claws grow from his fingers. Will save DC 12: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 The guard, seemingly distracted by the girl's call behind him, is unaffected by the daze spell.

Mireille stays put inside the building, with the door nearly closed.

Yellow keeps his guard up, but starts looking around for the source of the sound behind him. "Sir, there's someone over here calling for help!" he shouts, stepping back slightly.

"Porto, go for reinforcements!" the red guard yells. "We'll round up this lot!"

Two Blades dodges around the guisarmes and stabs the red guard in the back! He gasps and drops his guisarme, clearly badly wounded.

Missed the AO for Red last round... too bad for him!

Red draws his sword and steps back, shouting, "Enemies of the state! Stand down at once or be hunted down and executed!" He holds his sword unsteadily, moving it between Thordir and Two Blades.

Pink holds his own guisarme leveled at Thordir. "Move and I'll gut you!" he snarls.

GM, let me know if you would consider this a bit too meta, but I'd like to delay my action until after Fethril's buff. If that's not cool in your opinion, then my action will remain the same, minus the buff.

Thordir notes the point of the guisarme pointed at him, and nearly loses his will to fight, when suddenly he feels a surge of power radiate into his shoulder through a hand placed upon it.

A wide, wicked, furious grin creeps across Thordir's face as he turns his gaze from the weapon in front of him to its wielder's snarling face. You heard the man! I've got a duty to Nethys now! He slaps the blade away with one gauntleted hand as he steps inside the guard's reach and slams his other fist into the man's forearm, hoping the blow will break the man's arm if nothing else.

Thordir moves to attack pink, but pink stabs at him with his guisarme as he does so, just missing. guisarme, readied action: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 Throdir continues, smashing the guard's shoulder and arm. The spiked gauntlet penetrates to the knuckles, and the guard shrieks in pain.

Abelia moves to a better position and hurls a dagger at pink, missing. dagger, melle penalty: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 4 = 11

Sab'Sera stands and dodges towards the pink guard, but can't quite evade his attack. guisarme, trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 She is tripped up and falls prone just out of reach.

Yen Jinsa casts his spell and moves in, taking advantage of the man's distraction. Unfortunately he misses, and is still holding the charge of his spell.
