GM Aerondor |
No, this ability damage will not heal naturally while the curse/ritual is in effect.
At the loggers site you find a paybox with a small amount (55gp) of gold. Better hidden, Brother Tophor also finds the accounts books.
Back at the bridge, Jal starts to cross. It seems stable enough, but just as he gets to the end of it, a large axe swings down out of the trees and into him
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5) + 4 = 15
He ducks at the last moment, the axe all but taking off his head. It does leave a massive hole in his scalp which bleeds heavily.
Those on the shore can see the axe swinging on a rope..
An arrow flies out of the bush to the north of the river.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
But luckily for Jal he sat down hard after being hit by the axe and it goes over his head. Stumbling to his feet, he notices somthing odd coming towards him in the water.
Juniper: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

baddy1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
baddy2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Another arrow flies out of the woods
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
But again, Jal's instincts cut in and he rolls to one side.
"There are plenty more where that came from, lycan!" calls out an elven voice.
Meanwhile, the log floating down the river turns out to have some large teeth attached...
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
One gets stuck in Jal's armour, the rest narrowly avoid taking off his arm.

Juniper Menlisse |
Juniper has point blank shot, so it's 17 and 9. Does that change whether she hits or misses? (she takes no penalty for firing into melee because she has precise shot, in case that was taken into consideration).
GM Aerondor |
Point blank shot does make a difference. It is worth mentioning the the precise shot when you fire into melee, as I often forget characters have it. In this case as the base to hit the AC was too low, I never even got around to considering it.
The arrow that at glanced off the crocodiles thick hide left the head embedded between two scales. Nasty wound that.

"Jaaaaal! Oh no! Jaaaal!"
Eldon crosses the bridge in a hurry, trying to avoid the crocodile attacks.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Once at the other side, places his own body between the elf and Jal bones.
"Stop hiding elf!"
Eldon tries to locate the elf using his ears.
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Jal Vaduva |
Snarling in pain filled frustration, Pig-Jal recoils from the onslaught, his newly-acquired boarish toughness keeping him in his feet as he slings his shield onto his forearm. Then—using the advantageous height of the bridge over the crocodile to his benefit—he lashes out with his tusks ... trying to kill the thing.
Move to ready shield (AC 21).
Then power attack the croc with bite (including bonus from Bless and a +1 for advantageous height).
Bite: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 22
damage: 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6
His gray eyes scan for the bowman. "Show yourself!"
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Brother Tophor |
What was the the result of those Perception checks? Can I see anything of importance (based on 30 and 28 results?) Also, if I can't use Diplo, shouldn't I still be up in initiative?
GM Aerondor |
Jal's tucks spear the crocodile through its head, and it sinks into the river.
"Nooooo" you hear the cry from the other bank.
Another arrow flies out of the trees.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
But Eldon's protections are good enough to overcome it.
"Turn back if you are not lycans. None will pass me."

@Eldon you move at half when moving through a threatened area, or add ten to the DC check. Also you moved through three threatened squares, so you would need to do three checks. To simplify things though I hav edelayed you until after Jal, as he took out the crocodile.
Archer is now on the map. She was not able to be seen before the opening barrage - the perception check was for the logging camp finds and (in this case) Jal in the front to see the axe trap.
Eldon García |
Sorry, I thought only one check for each movement and foe was needed. About the half-speed, I moved 9 squares, thus +3 more squares because of half speed on threatened area shall make for my 12 max movement.
"As you see we are lycantrops but not because we want, it is the magic going on in this forest, and we need to cross in order to stop it and save our lives and this region people. Thus, if you stand in the middle of our mission we have no other choice than to neutralize you!" says Eldon as he moves through the trees and towards the voice.
Once he gains sight, he starts to pronounce arcane words trying to daze the elf. Will DC 12
Juniper Menlisse |
With the crocodile out of commission, Juniper takes the time to cross over to the other side and find some soft cover against the elf. "Surrender, and apologize for the stupid axe thing you rigged up back there."

Eldon García |
Just remembered about my damaged Int, the save DC should be 10 instead of 12. Sorry!
"He is here! Behind the trees!" Eldon points towards the covering elf.
Brother Tophor |
Side-stepping to get a clearer shot, Topher lets loose a hail of blunt arrows toward the archer's position.
I'm making up for the missed turn here.

Eldon tries to daze the elf..
willdc10: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 but in his reduced form the spell lacks any power and the elf, being exceptionly resistant to such magics easily shrugs it off.
Juniper joins Eldon on hte other side, calling out words that the elf doesn't listen to.
Shungur joins Jal on the bridge, and heals some of the worst wounds of the swordsman, while Tophor lets fly a flurry of arrows, one of which generates a painful. "Ouch!" from the woods.

GM Aerondor |
Under a flurry of arrows and steel the elf is quickly knocked unconscious. A look through her gear shows the equiment of a hunter, but also a scroll with (after a quick detect magic) magical writing upon it.
Divine scroll of cure light wounds x4
Her quivver has silver tipped arrows and she wears leather armour.
Juniper Menlisse |
Juniper's eyes light up at the sight of the silver tipped arrows, and she nabs the quiver to do a quick count before running over to Brother Tophor and seeing how best to divide up the arrows.
I assume normal bow? I have not seen anyone else firing arrows. If someone else wants some arrows, Juniper is willing to share. Sort of.
"Should we try to wake her up and see what she knows, dense as she was not to notice we're the good guys here?"
GM Aerondor |
The bow is a composite longbow, and Juniper's expert eye assesses it needs a strong pull (+1 strength adjustment).
There are 14 silver arrows left in the quiver.
Juniper Menlisse |
Perfect timing! Goes to show it pays to check the game just before going out :P
Juniper salivates over the bow and, noting Brother Topher has a pretty nicely made bow of his own, the junior slayer snatches up the bow and half the silver arrows (passing the other half to the other bow wielding ally) while offering his old looted bow to anyone interested.
Note to self...Juniper is very selfish about loot, when it suits her to be :P
Brother Tophor |
Seems fair, to me.
"I'm not sure how cooperative she'll be. Still, it's that, or leave her on our flank. Perhaps she'll realize this curse is as much a threat to her, as us?"
Shungur Edge-Of-Sky |
Shungur then uses up the scroll...first muttering over Jal, then the wounded tyrant lizard.

"She probably has some info, but we are in a rush. I vote to lose as litle time as posible. I don't want to lose my mind into a beast." says Eldon barely breathing.
GM Aerondor |
The scrolls returns both Jal and Marc to full health.
The elf herself is tied up, but remains unconscious - and judging from her wounds is likely to remain so for some time. When she wakes it will be with a sore head.
Unless you use magical healing on her, you'll have to wait a day to have her come round.
Eldon García |
Eldon pokes the elf with his wand until he is concious "If you want more healing answer our questions. Even if we seem beasts, we came here to solve the problem. We were told we need to stop some druids ritual. What do you know about it?"
Diplomacy aid: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17
Brother Tophor |
For the sake of time, I'll roll for that CLW wand above.
CLW, Elf lady: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Eldon García |
Thanks Tophor! I forgot to request you to roll as many times as it is needed to bring him back.
GM Aerondor |
The elf comes around with a single poke of the stick.
"What?.. Where is Jumblegrin?"
With a bit of talking, you come to understand that Jumblegrin is her pet crocodile. She was lying in wait looking for lycantropes to kill.
"There is a good bounty available for dead were-creatures.." she adds - directing the comment more to Diana and Juniper than the transforming pathfinders.
Eldon García |
"And who has placed that bounty?" Eldon tries to hide his hairy claws as he talks, more because of shame rather than expecting the elf haven't noticed.
GM Aerondor |
"Taldor pays a bountry for evil creatures disposed of. It helps keep their people and the woods safe."
She looks around.
"Where is Jumblegrin? And what are you going to do with me?"
Eldon García |
"We have nothing against you. We will just make sure you are not going to follow us or cause more trouble, then left you free. Your crocodile is unconscious at the river, but I guess he will survive." he kneels next to the elf then asks the question again, this time in elven "What do you know about the druids, their defenses, the ritual...? Whatever you know can be useful for us to save plenty of lives in the Verduran Forest."
GM Aerondor |
"I've not had anything to do with the druids since I was a girl. Sick &%%ds all of them. As for their 'Rituals of Life' - well.. lets say I was young and niave but not any longer and leave it at that. "
The look of disgust on her face is obvious.
"Best be careful in the forest though, its full of were-creatures. You've bested me once, and that was with surprise and Jumblegrin. I'm not stupid enough to try and take you a second time."
Aside from the scroll, and arrows, are you taking the bow? Anything else? Leaving her tied up may be an option, but if she is good she'll be able to escape and follow you (if she wants to) and if she isn't she'll quickly die.
Shungur Edge-Of-Sky |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
"We will heal you; otherwise you will die." Shungur pulls out his wand.
"I ask in return that you tell us more about the dangers ahead. Please. We seek to put an end to this druid madness."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Brother Tophor |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Tophor listens as the elf speaks, though his awareness of his transformation spurs him to impatience. "You lived among these druids? You must tell us where they are, so we can put a stop to this abomination."
GM Aerondor |
"They live in a place called the Briar Henge. I was not generally allowed within. My warning to you is to not try and sneak through the walls! The henge is covered with thick spikey plants which are enchanted to hurt those to travel through them."
She looks with unhappyness at Juniper. "Can you at least leave me your bow?"
No difference to chronicle, just RP about the bow
Eldon García |
"If not through the walls, how shall we go in then? Camon we have to move on."
GM Aerondor |
She provides directions to the henge, that match those you have already been given.
"There is a main entrance..."
And map updated
The Pathfinders travel for much of the rest of the day. It is getting on towards evening and the pull of the fullmoon and ritual makes those who are beastial feel their animalistic side grow stronger by the minute. The ritual must be broken soon, or it will be too late.
Briar Henge is a bristling fortress. The compound is roughly circular and approximately 100 feet across. The walls are made of tangled thorn bushes twelve feet high, although the compound does not appear to have a roof. The only break in the prickly wall is a gap five feet wide and eight feet high. Hanging ivy covers this doorway and blocks the view of the interior of the compound.
