Battle Map

Narika, you are 40 feet away from the active kobold, and you have cover. I'll add 6 to your stealth score. However it looks like you double moved without halving your movement, so that'll be a -5 penalty.

Perception Blue: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
Mount Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

AS Narika attempts to move on up stealthily, the kobold on the mount looks directly at her.

Draconic:
"We have company! SMOOTHSKINS!!!!"

It steers its mount across the ice, drawing its sword as it stows its lance away, riding around the tree up to Narika and barks out a challenge!

Draconic:
"For Grathatonhakis! DIE INTRUDER!"

Sword vs Narika: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Fortunately, the vicious sword blow misses the halfling.

Seren, happily skipping through the snow to prevent herself from sinking into it, is underdressed for the weather thanks to Teric's rather useful wand. She only quiets when people start talking about voices ahead, and then gets loud again once some little lizard with a ride starts barreling down on Narika. "Oi, lay off ya creepy lil' snake thin'! I got dibs on that halfin'!" She hits herself with her wand of longstrider before plowing her way down the trail to where Narika is getting assaulted.

Battle Map

Undiana and Riddywhipple start trekking down the frozen ice path, but Undiana soon realizes that he cannot move as fast as he would want due to the ice underfoot!

Ice on the stream and in the lake is difficult terrain. I adjusted your position to reflect that and put Riddywhipple with you since I don't think being separated from your companion is what you want.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 - 8 ⇒ (8) + 10 - 8 = 10

From behind the trees, a large scaled creature with bat-like wings takes flight! It swoops down upon the main group, breathing down ice and frost before turning and bearing down on Undiana! It lands in a flurry of ice shards, hissing malevolently.

Knowledge (Arcana) DC 17:
Lairing in frozen climes, it is unfortunate, yet unsurprising that a frost drake be among your opponents. You know the drill.

Seren, Arazni, Valoria, Narika I need a reflex save DC 18. Furthermore, for a number of rounds I will determine below, that area is difficult terrain.

Ice Breath: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 4, 2, 5, 5) = 33
Duration: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5

Teric, unaffected by all this, casts a spell and a rolling ball of flame appears atop the kobold cavalier!

Reflex, Blue: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Reflex, Blue's Mount: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Gahhh! I looked above, and I somehow forgot to state that in our time to buff, Narika was going to cast Protection from Energy. I think it's obvious why she would have done so, but it's up to you, GM, if the intention is good enough when I didn't state I was doing it.

Narika has cold resistance 10 from her bloodline. If she did not cast protection from energy, then she takes 23 cold damage. If she did cast it, then it's buffer now holds 84-23=61 points.

Valoria's quick glimpse of the creature which wings over head is over too quickly for her to make out anything past the blast of ice and cold which envelop her and Arazni. Gritting her teeth against the cold, she spurs Arazni forward to confront the kobold which bedevils Narika.

"Narika! Hold on!"

Arazni's gait is buoyed several inches above the ground by the magic of her horseshoes, so the only sounds she makes as she moves across the battlefield are the jingling of her barding and the rustle of plants displaced by her bulk.

Icicles sticking off of her body in every which way and her hair frozen into a gnarled heap of ice she, she practically growls in frustration and starts marching through the snow to the only visible attack - the blue kobold. "Someone is gonna pay for that, ya scaly jerk!"

Her last step has her leaping from the snow to land beside Valoria with a twirling flourish as she begins her dance by trying to cleave the kobold itself in two.

"Uh oh, there's a Frost Drake over here!" Undy shouts out to his companions.

Is the Frost Drake on the ground with me? And does it appear to have reach?

Riddy attempts to fly out of the Drake's reach, using Acrobatics to hopefully avoid an AoO and flying at half speed.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

What follows presumes that Riddy manages to get away, possibly damaged, but not grappled/unconscious/etc. If that's not the case, Undy's actions will be something different.

Once Riddy has gotten out of the Drake's reach, he turns and, together with Undy, they once again utilize Elemental Commixture to alter their spells' effects. The two of them only need to be within 30' of each other to use EC

Riddy casts Shock Shield, though it has no obvious effect.

On the ice it's impossible for Undy to step five feet away, so he will cast Burning Hands defensively, with 1 Alchemist's Fire as an additional component. Using a chronicle boon, Timelost Chronicler, that gives me a once/scenario +1 morale bonus on a single d20 roll, on the concentration check.

Using my GM reroll to reroll this

Concentration check DC 17, stars: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 14 + 2 = 28

Using a Faction Journal boon from the Grand Lodge to impose a -2 to the Drake's first saving throw (which should stack with Tess' Evil Eye).

Primary Effect: Fire Damage: 5d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 2, 2) = 12 DC 19 Reflex for half damage; if the save is failed, the drake also catches fire as if hit by Alchemist's Fire (next round it takes an additional Fire damage from alchemist's fire: 1d6 ⇒ 5)

Secondary Effect: DC 18 Fort save. Failure = nauseated for 1 round and blinded for blind duration: 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds. Success = negates nausea but still blinded for 1 round. Immunity to fire gives immunity to the nausea effect.

Finally, Assuming the drake is now blinded Undy moves backwards (which should not provoke an AoO since it is blind), drawing his rod of intensify metamagic as he does so. I will move back 3 squares due to difficult terrain, but will wait to move my icon to see if this all works as I hope it does

The mounted kobold snarls, managing to avoid the worst of three otherwise devastating attacks.

Lucky me! And yes Tessara, I marked it down for good bookkeeping that the Drake has failed its save.

Undiana and Riddywhipple:
This creature is immune to cold, sleep, and paralysis. It has no particular resistances. It's special attack is a "fireball style" effect where it can lob a globe of cold at an area within 60 feet and do damage and make the terrain difficult. It recharges every 1d6 rounds. Saves, in descending order: Fort, Ref, Will.

1d6 ⇒ 2

The drake is five feet above the ground. As for reach that is ambiguous, at least until someone tries to determine that. Which Riddywhipple does apparently.

While Riddywhipple attempts to move away carefully, it is not careful enough! The drake reaches out and snaps at the fairy dragon!

Bite AoO vs Riddywhipple: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16

Fortunately, it misjudges where the familiar is going and snaps its jaws to empty air and soon it finds itself staring at a wall of flame!

Fortitude: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 10 - 4 = 16

Blind and suddenly feeling very sick, the drake is unable to prevent Undiana from retreating. With a roar, it too retreats away.

@GM, do any of us even know that the invisible kobolds exist? I'm not sure whether or not that was apparent from our earlier eavesdropping, or if anyone saw them before they turned invisible.

(Posting my action now, in advance) Undy will move towards Teric and ready an action to cast Protection From Energy (Cold), Communal once Teric and Tess come adjacent. Or, Undy will just cast it on himself and Riddy if they prefer to move forward instead. If any of the other party members indicate that they would also like to be included, Riddy will wait until they reach him (but I think they are likely all too far away, given the difficult terrain).

This will provide each of the subjects with immunity to cold up to 96 points of damage absorbed, with a duration of 80 minutes divided by the number of recipients of the spell.

Riddy will fly to Undy's square and lower his spell resistance so that he can receive the Communal Protection From Energy spell when it goes off.

You are aware that there was perhaps something over there, but now you aren't seeing it.

Narika blasts the rider, causing it to slump in its saddle. Angered, the mount attempts to bite the other mount.

Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

But its anger clouds its judgement.

Valoria twirls her sword above her head once again, inspiring her allies with Iomedae's grace.

She turns to the woman who was in conflict with the kobolds.

Seren whirls and twirls beside Arazni, letting the horse teach the other mount how to be a good and proper mount. What with all the excessive biting and kicking she really doesn't want to get too close to that anyways. If the creature fails to fall under a barrage of hooves she'll snake in after the fade and deliver a pair of slashes to the beast to finish it off. "Sure will, Horse lady! But I can' do much about no dragon! It's too far and all flyin' an' stuff!" "If anyone wants to toss us up there, we're willing to go."

Seren seems skeptical at her 'own' words, but shrugs them off while continuing to dance, hoping to get herself warm again.

Free action to spirit dance, full round to beat on the mount as it's the only threat in immediate range.

Basically, casting Communal Protection From Energy (Cold), either right away if none of the party want to also partake, or as a readied action if Teric and/or Tess also want it (I don't think any of the other party members can get there).

*****OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT*****

The kobolds continue to mount a frustrating defense, luring Pathfinders into cramped and trap-filled tunnels and unleashing captive monsters on unsuspecting agents. Even so, the kobolds are losing ground with each battle. As another skirmish echoes from elsewhere in the caverns, a tremendous roar reverberates through the cave complex, rattling stalactites and causing snowdrifts to slide down the outside slopes. As the sound dissipates, the voice of a massive creature booms from deep within the kobolds’ warren.

“Long ago my ancestor Grathatonhakis ruled here, and a meager dwarf challenged his might only to become his trophy. Both were fools, and both are now dead. I am neither, and your paltry attacks shall not change that. Fall back, kobolds of the Shiverscale tribe! Let these intruders die in sight of the last fool to challenge Horralydax, the master of the Tusk Mountains. Rally to me, my children. Today we dine on adventurers!”

The kobolds kowtow to the booming voice, scramble to their feet, and begin retreating deeper into the caves. For once they aren’t covering their tracks, so the way to the dragon’s lair is clear.
