When looking through the small windows to study the prisoners, Ennoia uses Detect Evil, by the way.

![]() |

All non-evil. :)
One of the captives, a dwarf answers your questions. You don't look like jailers to me. I am Rakuska Ingardam. These are my colleges Pechas Domri and Holfist Sendstrom. We were captured and brought here by a merciless Razmiri cleric calling herself Holy Ahendile. I am hopping that you are the rescue party?

![]() |

Ennoia nods and smiles at the dwarf. We are. You are safe now that we're here, we're going to free you. Do you know anything about this Ahendile? Is she around here? Who are your jailors?

![]() |

The dwarf recounts their story: they bypassed Xer only to be waylaid by a faith barge and have all their funds extorted from them before they were captured—though not without a fierce fight. The three were brought to this place with hoods over their heads, which their captors removed only when the party arrived at the inn’s gate. They’ve been interrogated twice by a “merciless Razmiri cleric calling herself Holy Ahendile,” who she reports is convinced the dwarves are in the country for some subversive, nefarious purpose.
She doesn't know anymore about this cleric.
Of note, the dwarves are all in the weakened condition.

![]() |

"Did she mention any other people, gods, anything of note? Can you remember anything specific about what she asked you?"/

![]() |

Wilhelm takes the keys from the table and releases the dwarves from their manacles. He then glances over at the druid, "Baobob, what is that you found behind that brick?"
He takes the lock of hair and the vial of liquid. "Is anyone able to deduce what this could be used for? I'm afraid I have not training in understanding the arcane arts."

![]() |

I don't have a clue either, sorry Brother Wilhelm.
Ennoia now turns her attention to the exits, bow in hand, trying to hear if anyone's coming.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Meanwhile, she addresses the dwarves: Are you in condition to walk? She shouldn't remain here for too long.

![]() |

GM, I'm not sure what is meant by weakened. I could not find a mention of it in the CRB
Wilhelm examines the dwarven prisoners, concerned for their well-being.
Heal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
"How do you feel? Perhaps it would be best if you three were to stay down here while we deal with this Holy Ahendile."
"However, someone is bound to come check on you at some point. Perhaps we can wait here and ambush one or more of your captors as they come down the stairs." He turns to his companions, "What do you say?"

![]() |

Let's free them now and get out of here! says the young paladin as she grabs the keys and opens their manacles' locks.

![]() |

The monk considers the paladin's plan. "I'd feel more comfortable waiting to ambush, but perhaps these dwarves cannot wait."
Wilhelm climbs the ladder out of the prison, back to the bathroom. As he emerges from the secret door, he keeps on alert for the two old women that run the inn.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

![]() |

Ennoia also goes upstairs as silently as possible and readies her to bow.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

![]() |

Creeping back through the main hallway, all is clear. However, once you get to the common room you turn the corner and see a host of people now present. One, a female wearing a holy symbol partially hidden speaks loud enough for everyone to clearly hear- In the name of the most holy living god, drop your weapons! I am Holy Ahendile, ordained priest of Razmir and arbiter of your fates. Submit to my authority, and you may well earn more merciful treatment

![]() |

"Well met, Holy Ahendile. It seems we have chanced upon some dwarven fellows that have been waylaid here against their will. We would just like to ensure safe passage. We seek no quarrel."
Wilhelm takes a cautious step forward, dropping his temple sword and holding out his hands.

![]() |

Ahn, staying to the rear in his weakened state, sweeps his gaze across the crowd detecting evil (on anyone he can see) and readies an action to use his spell like ability produce flame.

![]() |

We are here to free these dwarves, unjustly put in shackles. says Ennoia with an imperious tone. Yet your fate remains your choice, "Holy" Ahendile. If you let us go, you will live to see another day, since we have no quarrel with you directly.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Detect evil on the welcoming party.

Enough blasphemers. You only submit to Razmir's wrath, you do not barter with him! Put them down! she screams to her enforcers. The order given, crossbows appear from their sides and bolts fly through the room.

Most of the bolts land in the wood of the great hall. One finds itself in the thigh of Omar.

No change in the map- At the start of this combat round assume you all are in the hearth room, where Whilhelm's token is for the purposes of starting your move.

![]() |

Isn't the initiative order: Omar, Ennoia, Holy Ah, Baobob, thugs, Sardon, Ahn, Wilhelm? After the thug's surprise round, apparently.

![]() |

Ahn produces a flame the size of a torch in his hand and hurls it at Ahnedle ... Ahn remains to the rear of the party stepping back into the hallway only as far as he still has a view of the whole room.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12, Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Crouching behind his shield, Baobob casts Shillelagh on his club!

Ennoia moves into the room while drawing her bow, and finishes her move on Wilhelm's left. Then she casts Glitterdust on Holy Ahendle and one the thugs (the one next to the E3 marking). Will save DC 15, they are blinded for one round if they fail. Whether or not they make the save, they'll have a -40 on their stealth checks for the duration of the spell.
May Falayna's righteous cause blind your sacrilegious eyes!

![]() |

Ignore the rolls in the Spoiler. I must have screwed up the formatting when posting the thugs rolls. The rolls are in the order done, and I accidentally put the thugs attack rolls ahead of the "initiative" rolls. The cleric rolled a "1", the thugs rolled a "20" and so forth.
Looking back, in the order of all rolls; the crossbow bolts would have all missed except for Ennoia's bolt would have rolled an "18". However, since it is the GM's mistake, all bolts missed. No damage to everyone!
Never let a Gremlin stay up past midnight!

Wilhelm steps forward to the Holy. He brings his hands in front of him, entering into his mantis style. He then strikes at Holy Ahendile, attempting to stun her.
Stunning Fist Unarmed Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
DC 15 Fort save or stunned for a round. Mantis Style adds +2 to the DC - it would normally be dc13.
Of course, rolling a 1 doesn't help...

![]() |

What about the saves vs glitterdust?

![]() |

Ahna's flame darts across the room and just barely catches the priest in the chest, leaving a sizable burn.
Baobob's companion strikes the thug in the face, creating a nasty looking laceration. Before the thug can move, the companion's "limbs" start to wrap around the unfortunate man.
Omar's blast finds a weak spot in one of the thugs. As the arrows emerges from the man's back, he slowly and silently slumps to the ground.
Ennoia casts her spell, sparkling dust filling the dinning hall. Will Save Thug: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9 Will Save Ahendile: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16. The thug is blinded while the priest somehow manages to avoid the spells harmful effect.
Wilhelm's attack is poetic, but not effective. The cleric is easily able to dodge the fist.
However, Sardon's blow is mighty and nearly decapitates the lady.
She takes a step back and produces a wand. Her lips move almost imperceptibly.
The two remaining unengaged thugs fire at Sardon and Whilhelm. Attack Sardon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Attack Whilhelm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 , but both bolts miss their targets and fly wildly across the room.
The blinded grappled thug tries to escape from the plant monster. Escape Artist: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 1 - 4 = 16 Looks like event that fails.
PC's Turn

Wilhelm shifts his position slightly, holding his left hand down at his side (Adding Snapping Turtle Style to Mantis Style). He chases down Holy Ahendile, but instead of attempting another stunning fist attack, he tries to grapple the priestess.

As a flurry of activity surrounds the Revelation Inn - Omar, Ennoia, and Baobob disable the thugs in the room. Sardon, Ahna, and Whilhelm beat the cleric down into submission.
This is essentially the end of the scenario. We can RP out some of the parts if you like or I can just narrate your journey to Mendev.

As the Priestess is being tied up, Ennoia glances outside the inn to check if some reinforcements are coming. With a sigh of relief, she motions the dwarves to come out with her.
This is our chance. Let's go.
Heading out into the night, she tries to find a measure of calm as she nods to the dwarves. Never forget that the Society isn't a wild bunch of self-centered looters. Some of us try to do the right thing.
