Roary Flamebearer |
"Its ok Astarton, anything can happen in the mists of battle an it appears our recently departed here might not be the leader after all.. If this Dalirio Teppish is indeed the ringleader to all this can we please try to take him alive.. Come let us get these people out of here.."
After he has Orfeo released and i hand he'll drag him to the top deck of the boat and whisper something in his ear.. "Your uncle sends a message.. He did not appreciate your interruptions at his feast recently.. Let that happen again and this will feel like a slap of the wrist.." And with that Roary will chunk the man overboard to the water below..
Afterwards he makes sure the man is swimming before turning to his group..
"Ready to seek out this other snake?"
GM Captain Trips |
Searching through the remainder of the ship Astarton finds the ship's log tucked away in what would be the captain's quarters. Roary sends one of the prisoners over the side of the ship, watching the man as he flounders in the water trying to swim his way back to shore. The rest of the prisoners are released and thank the group for their help.
Gryne Skystone |
Gryne whispers back to Makenna, We will find it eventually, If it is here or not. Let us look.
Looking for the amulet/jewlery described to us.1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Astarton Columbridge |
Astarton brings out the captain's log, holding it firmly until he trips on an uneven board on the ship his arms fling wildly as he tosses the book with all its papers right over the side of the ship. "Oh no!" he exclaimed and jumped overboard to try and locate it. He landed on it directly, driving it further underwater and getting it thoroughly waterlogged. He then swam it to the dock, opened it up and tried to dry it off, but managed to pretty much ruin the contents if they haven't been ruined already. Sopping wet, he got ready to go to the warehouse if the rest of the group was ready as well, looking defeated from all his hard work.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
_Twigg |
"Two Gnomes I guess he wasn't as important as he thought!" Twigg giggles as the man splashes into the harbor.
Twigg casts detect magic to see if he can find anything of note.
GM Captain Trips |
Assuming everyone is ready to roll out...
You find the cooper’s warehouse on the south side of the Imperial Naval Shipyard, locate the trap door, and descend the stairs. A smell, not unlike wet dog, fills this room. The corners are occupied by dirty straw pallets covered by wrinkled, mildew encrusted blankets. A single dilapidated table and four cracked and uneven chairs surround it. The floor is covered in a thin layer of dust and mud and footprints clearly cross the room from the trap door in the ceiling to a set of wooden double doors in the west wall. In the room are a startled man in robes, looking much like the one you confronted in the inn, and a pair of rats scurrying about.

_Twigg |
"Oh! That is an interesting smell! I have never smelled that before." Twigg looks around at the situation. "Another crazy man with rats? I was hoping to battle someone more interesting... Are you going to babble about your master as well?"
Gryne Skystone |
Ahhh, this smell reminds me of why I left home. Filthy cave dwellers.
Looking at Twigg, Twigg, my gnomish friend there are doors behind him, perhaps there is an ooze or maybe some zombies behind them.
Roary Flamebearer |
Depending on what Makena does this might change..
Roary charges the man.. "Surrender Dalirio Teppish.. Your day is done"
Not Raging so AC is 16/14 with charge

Makena Nyambose |
Makena sees the rats and remembers the ones from the inn. She notices Roary preparing to advance on the man. Well, I think he`s best suited to bring that one down, anyway. I'd better clear the path. She steps sideways to and tries to hit the rat closer to them, hopefully distracting it from Roary's charge.

Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Dmg: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Once I start using the scimitar and adding my Dex to damage things will get better, I promise (this oe would've been 2d6+8, a lot better than 2d4...)
Astarton Columbridge |
Astarton seems pretty out of it as they travel, but perks up a bit once his clothes start drying. Once he gets into the room with the rats and the man that looked so familiar, he spoke to the man through the din of battle. "Jeth! Long time no see! I thought I saw you earlier today, but I was wrong. You sure are a sight for sore eyes. Little Ryn hasn't been feeling well, and you need to come before the poor little guy realizes what you've done. Don't resort to a life of crime!"
He went forward along the wall and got in behind the larger of the two rats, desiring to give it a bit of a thrashing.
Arcane Strike: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
GM Captain Trips |
Makena leaps forward and scores a nasty hit on the rat in front of her, the angled blade of the kukri slicing through flesh and bone. The critter does not drop though, and its teeth clamp together in anticipation of getting off a nice bite.
Astarton takes to the other rat and delivers a wild strike with his blade, missing the tiny creature and taking out a chunk of the wall with his powerful swing.
Roary charges forward to the robed man who is hopefully not Jeth, Astarton's friend, and takes a few bites on the feet as he passes...
Rat #1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Rat #2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Rat #2 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
...and one connects with the barbarian, tearing out a bit of flesh from his leg.
Fort save for Roary please
In return, he ends his charge at the man in robes and takes a mighty swing with his sword, bisecting the man with the stroke and sending him tumbling to the ground in a bloody heap.
The first rat takes a nibble at Makena...
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
...and connects, its filthy teeth gnawing at her leg.
Fort save for Makena please
The final rat attempts to bite the damp Astarton...
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
...and it misses poorly!
Twigg and Gryne are both up!
Roary Flamebearer |
That was non-lethal damage btw..
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
_Twigg |
Twigg prances a few feet forward and hides by the table. He starts to twiddle his fingers and chant.
Twigg casts Daze at the robed man (Will DC 17)
"Can you babble something for us? The other robed fellow was quite entertaining with his gibberish!"
Astarton Columbridge |
Astarton tries again, this time with feeling. Or to be more accurate, he doesn't swing as hard.
Arcane Strike: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Gryne Skystone |
I believe I still have my hammer drawn.
Gryne will move forward to the closest rat and swing with his Hammer:
1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
If hit - 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 6) + 2 = 13
GM Captain Trips |
Gryne steps up to the rat that Astarton is fighting and takes a wild swing with his hammer, missing the creature entirely. Twigg waggles his tiny fingers at the rat that is biting Makena and fires off a glob of acid at the creature, hitting it and causing its fur to sizzle and pop as the acid eats into its skin.
Top of the round
Astarton lunges at the rat that he and Gryne are engaged with, scoring a strong hit across the rat's body, his blade sinking deeply and killing the creature with one blow.
Makena and Roary are up!
Roary Flamebearer |
Roary steps up to the rat..
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 +2 if he can flank
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
Makena Nyambose |
Makena holds her blade as she sees Roary approaching fom behind the rat. When the little beast notices the incoming barbarian, se takes advantage of the moment to stab him again, hoping to kill it before its next bite.
Hold action, Atk flanking with Roary: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Roary and Makena combine their assaults and pound the remaining rat into the stone floor of the room, leaving not much more than a smear of red where it used to be.
End Combat

The party hears faint and muffled sounds coming from behind the door in the room, as if they were echoing across a long tunnel.
Roary Flamebearer |
Roary moves to the door and opens it..
Perc.: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
GM Captain Trips |
Oh boy
Gryne begins searching the corpse of the robed man and checking out the room. He finds 25gp on the man as well as a chest underneath the table which is unlocked and contains 1,600gp in Cassomir trade bars. As he is making his way around the room he notices an odd looking lever in the corner behind a straw pallet. As he looks closer at the device he hears a screech from behind him as Roary opens the door and a giant axe swings across the doorway, slamming into the barbarian...
Swinging Axe Trap: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
...the axe bites into the forearm of the barbarian, but luckily does not cut too deeply. It slows its motion as it swings back and forth, finally coming to a stop in front of the door, its power spent.
Beyond the open door you see a long stairway heading down further into the complex. After about sixty feet of a very steep incline the passage ends at a large double door.
Roary Flamebearer |
"Ouch!! Hey Gryne how bout a hit from my wand?"
Gryne Skystone |
Healy stick- 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
C'mon, that's just a scratch. I'm surprised you don't take that axe with ya'
I found a lever here. Anyone want to come check it for traps. I'd hate to have an axe come shave my beard off.
Makena Nyambose |
Makena tries to patch up her wound, which is bleeding profusely. She turns to the others and asks "Do we have any healing potions left? I'm not feeling too well..."
She still has one 1st lvl spell left, but I was hoping to save it to the final boss...
Gryne Skystone |
I believe we have 2 left, if not I can hit you with the Wand.
Potion is 1d8, correct? Potion-1d8 ⇒ 7
If no potions available, Wand-1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Gryne Skystone |
Twigg giggles "Beardless dwarf! That is something I would like to see!"
*Snort*
You know these beards are the source of our power, dont'cha Twigg?Roary Flamebearer |
Roary snickers at the thought of a beardless dwarf.. "Yall ready to proceed?" Without waiting for a response Roary heads off down the passageway towards the door.. Perc. Door: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Makena Nyambose |
Makena feels invigorated by the potion, and watches the wound magically disappear. Still fascinates me, even after I've learned how to do it. As Roary calls the group to action she stands up ready for another fight. "Let's go, Roary!"
Back to full HP thanks to Gryne's awesome roll
Astarton Columbridge |
Astarton swipes the last healing potion and downs it. "Better to use 'em than to lose 'em." He also pats his belly a little afterwards and lets out a belch that is a little too loud. He then makes a face and looks down the hall to see if any evil thing heard that.
Heal Potion 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Cure light wounds spell 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Looks like I get the bad rolls today!
Gryne Skystone |
Should we pull this lever here before going into another room? I'd hate for Twigg to miss seeing a hidden door open and skeletons fill the room to separate our heads from our bodies.
GM Captain Trips |
Gryne's perception check earlier would tell him that the lever was the means to disarm the swinging axe trap, it just so happened that you were searching while Roary was busy opening doors and triggering traps :)
Roary hears noises coming from behind the door, but doesn't notice anything strange about its construction.
Gryne Skystone |
Of course. I never find the cool stuff in time.
Gryne heads to the rest of the group ready for action.
Ok all, let's see what kind of monster lurks below.
Roary Flamebearer |
Sorry on vacation
