Hello all. Checking in.

I've been playing in PbP games for a little over a year now, and luckily two of my games have worked out and are still active. I know it is hard to get this kind of game going, but I actually think playing short Pathfinder Society Modules might work better than long-term campaigns - so yes, I'm optimistic about this one!

I haven't played any Pathfinder Society games, and this is my first PFS character. I really like the perspective of going through the whole season if this works out. :)

I'm ready to start as soon as you guys are.

Two Bards! Are you guys lucky!

This is my first PFS Character as well, being that I'm pretty far away from a regular game, and a regular schedule as I have two jobs and three kids. I've been at PBP for just over a year as well, and it has been fun but the long ones rarely last it seems like to me. I have been loving the format of PFS on PBP that I made a second character.

Well, there's only the five of us, so I'm glad I brought my CLW wand. But let's not burn it out in one session.

Gobbo!

Morning all, a few details before we get started. I will go ahead and post the introduction this morning but we won't actually fire everything up until we make sure everyone is checked in and participating, just in case we had some applicants that don't end up joining the game.

- If a spoiler doesn't mention your faction, name, or current action it is considered bad form to read it. This is more of an honor system thing. This is really for those who are new to PFS PbP

- Combat movement will be completed on the Roll20.net maps. The site is free to register on, so make sure you have done so. Log in and get acquainted with your token. Sorry if they don't all look like your character, I did what I could with the limited tokens available. If the group or players continue on to the next scenario I can consider making custom tokens for you.

- You will each have a faction mission. Remember, you can't ask for help from other characters that are not of your faction, but you can influence them to act a certain way to help with your faction mission using roleplay and guile.

- Please add a mini stat block to your character profile on the line that says "class/level", below is an example. I need these values to help run things a bit smoother without flipping between a lot of profiles.

Male Human Level 1 Male Human Ranger | HP 12 | AC 13 | T 13 | FF 10 | CMD 16 | Fort +4 | Ref +5 | Will +2 | Init +5 | Perc +6 | Sense Motive +3

- As you introduce yourself on the discussion page, please go ahead and post your Pathfinder Society number as well as your character number, such as "49920-1". Also let me know your faction. I will use this information to turn in your sheet at the end of the scenario.

Hello all, checking in as well..

This is also my first society character and ive only been playing pbp for a few months now, but so i far i love it.. My local groups schedules dont line up but about once a month so this allows me to still get to play on a regular basis..

I think pfs scenerios do tend to go the distnace because all the players know its not a long haul game.. Thats good imo lol..

Oh i also have a full clw wand to hand to someone who can use it :)

Gobbo!

It was tough breaking up the applicants into two groups, but I think this mix will work. The group with all level 1 characters got the cleric, the one with a few level 2 characters got the secondary healers. It is good there are a few wands of CLW out there, it will probably help a ton.

Hopefully it will work out fine, but be warned that some of the encounters in this scenario are pretty tough for the reported levels. Use your wits and with a little bit of luck you should have no problems.

This is my second PFS adventure and 3rd pbp. I've been at it for about a month. I'm a grad student so I have a fairly flexible schedule and have no difficulties posting.

I didn't know how to make a PFS alias for my last pbp so I switched and made this alias for this game.

Once Gryne checks in we can go ahead and begin. The introduction is posted in the Gameplay section and we will start there once we are all assembled and ready.

Assume that your Pathfinders have been in the lodge for a few days, resting from your previous missions or assembling your gear in preparations for your first mission, as the case may be. You will be called to the meeting room by a runner from the society, and once assembled you will get the introduction speech from the venture-captain. After the initial discussion is completed you will have time to introduce/describe yourselves, and then the game will be afoot!

If you need to do any pre-scenario bookkeeping, purchasing, etc. please let me know. Once the scenario starts you will not be able to return to the lodge, so if you are leaving anything behind please make a note of it.

Roary, you could probably hand it to Gryne since he can cast it but it isn't on his list. That way we have at least 3 people with healing, which is nice.

I don't need to make any particular purchases, since I am saving up for some +1 armor or something nice.

Real life work can wait.

Here is Gryne in all his Dwarfy goodness.

Faction: Grand Lodge
PFS number -39578-1

Just a couple of notes about Gryne, as I love playing the character to his personality/appearance.
Gryne is a Dwarf but tall and skinny for a Dwarf. He is of the Air Domain so was always looked at funny by his brethren. Other than that he is all Dwarf; burps, crudeness and aggression are in his daily diet.

As far as myself; I love playing Pathfinder and D&D. I play weekly in my local store where I am currently playing a Forsaker in a pirate themed campaign. I just completed a yearlong adventure as a Sumo Wrestler (I created the class) in a Rokugan setting. I live in Florida, so EST is my time zone. I am a college professor so I have a real slimmed down schedule.

OK, going to look over my sheet and see if I need any purchases, but I should be good. Will we be able to tweak our inventory once we realize the scenario's mission, ie; type of gear(dungeoneering, cold outfit, etc)?

You might have some opportunity, but I can't promise anything. Just don't go into it expecting you will have the chance, just in case. Things tend to start moving at a rather brisk speed in a lot of these scenarios. As with many PFS games, resting might not be an option, so manage your resources accordingly.

Got it Trips-
I never read the PFS scenarios(I like surprises) so I have no idea if I need cold weather or hot weather gear. Currently I have hot weather outfit and a cold weather blanket....yes I am neurotic about logistics.

Also I have 2 potions of cure light wounds.

I also never spent my last 2 PP, so I'll thumb through quickly to see what I was planning to use it for then let you know if that is ok.

Perfectly fine, just update your profile with your purchases.

You are in a temperate area, so neither climate related gear will really help/hinder you.

You are in the city of Cassomir, which is located at the mouth of the Sellen River, and is the second largest settlement in the empire of Taldor. It acts as a major trade city, and through its ports enter goods from the Inner Sea, as well as from nations to the north that utilize the Sellen as a trade route. Cassomir is also home to the greatest of Taldor's imperial shipyards, even though the majority of the fleet itself is stationed in Oppara.

Cassomir is situated at the mouth of the Sellen River, a position that grants it considerable power as a trade city between the Inner Sea and the inland nations along the river's banks. The Sellen empties into the nearby Star Bay, which acts as a natural weigh station where the Taldan imperial navy secures payment from anyone wishing to access the river itself. The Bay also acts as the western border of the Jagged Saw, a dangerous span of coastline that continues to the mouth of the River Porthmos to the southeast.

Cassomir is divided into seven very distinct districts, the Abbey Green district that surrounds the ruins of Quickfall Abbey, the Admiral's Fen district plagued by the Blackwood Swamp, the unofficial district of Dog's Teeth consisting of a number of small rocky islands, the Old Cassomir district surrounded by enormous ramparts, the Grayguard's Shadow district which supports the impressive Grayguard Castle, the wealthy Threegates district, and the Imperial Naval Shipyards.

Do you guys think we should have a standing marching order?

If I may:
Approaching potentially hostile situation:
Brute-Roary
Bard-Astarton
Bard-Makena
Sorcerer-Twiggy
Nefti
Inquisitor-Gryne

On the open road the order may change to something like this:
Roary
Gryne
Makena
Nefti
Twigg
Astarton

This is of course just looking at your characters and assuming your offensive strategies.
For me, I typically use my Longbow in the open and Hammer in close quarters.

I was just thinking with my Longbow, it could give us a ranged and melee up front. I'm fine with whatever, just throwing out ideas.

We should probably have a Nefti-guard to keep him safe.

Sorry for the slow down, I had my home game tonight. All I have to say is "I hate pixies".

So how is the pace so far? Too fast or slow?

Pace is fine by me, but it's the fastest PbP I've ever played (which is a good thing as long as everyone can keep up).

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Inquisitor/2 - | HP 18/18 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 |SR 7| CMD 14 | Fort +4 | Ref +3 | Will +7 | Init +6 | Perc +9 | Sense Motive +9 // Wand CLW - 44

I can keep up. I like the quicker pace.
As evidenced earlier, I tend to post my next round action in advance so you all don't have to wait for me. If it is ok, I can post like this just to keep things clear:

Round 1
Initiative 4(order)
Action:

Stuff happens...lots of posts..

Round 2
Initiative 4
Action

Gobbo!

Thats fine. I want to keep it flowing, but I also don't want people to miss out on actions because they might not post as often. It's a hard balance to find but I do like to keep up a good pace. A scenario should maybe take 10-12 days to complete. I've been in one now as a player that after two weeks isn't even past the first encounter. That drives me nuts.

Male Dwarf Inquisitor/2 - | HP 18/18 | AC 18 | T 12 | FF 16 |SR 7| CMD 14 | Fort +4 | Ref +3 | Will +7 | Init +6 | Perc +9 | Sense Motive +9 // Wand CLW - 44

No kidding. The first PFS PbP I ever did took over 2 months.
The next three took less than a month total.

FYI-I am a notoriously horrible roller. My last session I didn't hit the entire last encounter. I make great rolls for useless things of course but the attacks are always a struggle for my dice-fu.

It's been a while since I've had a PBP go this quickly, although I don't think you can expect more than 3 posts a day from me. Some days are better than others though for the boards. I will try to let people know if I can't keep up, but I'm good so far.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!

I also wanted to add that I'm getting close to finishing up the Roll20 conversion of Reign of Winter, a Pathfinder Adventure Path. This would not be a PFS based module and character generation would be a bit more relaxed, but I would be issuing out the 6 PFS credit sheets that go along with the adventure path. You could apply those to any of your PFS characters. Alternately we could agree to run it completely as a PFS adventure. It would depend on the group's decision.

I'm going to be running this as a live game on Roll20 using teamspeak or the like for voice, but I'm not sure if the night yet. It would likely be either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday nights, from probably 6-7pm till 10pm EST. I was considering running it as a PbP but honestly, Adventure Paths are HUGE. It would take over a year to PbP it and I'm sure we'd have attrition to the group's size over that amount of time.

If you are curious about it you can download the player's guide to the adventure path from Paizo for free. It gives you some ideas about what it contains, character suggestions, etc.

I'm going to give first crack at putting a group together for this to the people in my two current PbP games on here, so if you are interested let me know. I'm probably about 2 weeks out from being ready to run it, and I'd like to take a week or so to work with the players on their characters.
