“Welcome to Varisia, welcome to the city of Magnimar, welcome to the Pathfinder Lodge of Heidmarch Manor, but most importantly, welcome to my home.” Venture-Captain Sheila Heidmarch greets you in her low, breathy voice, finishing with a warm smile.
“Varisia is a land of ancient wonders and exciting possibilities,” she continues, “and I’ve found it most helpful to keep a team of Pathfinders on call at the lodge at all times, should anything of interest to the Society come up unexpectedly. This assignment is only temporary. We’ll rotate in a new team to take your places in a few weeks, but rest assured, there’s plenty of potential for you to make a name for yourselves as Pathfinders here.
“I’ve arranged for you to stay in Bakrakhan House, one of our guest cottages, for the duration of your stay here. It’s currently unoccupied, so you’ll have the place to yourselves. You’re on duty starting tomorrow morning, so take some time to settle in, wrap up any unfinished business you have in the city today, and should the Society have need of you, I’ll contact you directly.
“Ebrylis, if you could show them the way, please,” Sheila says as she turns and departs.
A half-elf guardsman steps forward. “This way, please,” Ebrylis says. “Bakrakhan House is the last house on the end. I’m sure you’ll want to unpack, set up your bunks, and so on. Dinner’s at sunset in the manor’s dining room. Look for me at the gate if you need anything else. I’ll leave you to it.” With that, Ebrylis strolls back down the path.
He guides the PCs around the manor to the back, where three stone cottages stand beside a path.

A halfling woman carrying a lute smiles and murmers something polite to the venture-captain. She then follows the guardsman and finds her bunk. Tired from her travels, she tries to relax.

![]() |

A grisly looking dwarf clad in hide armor covered in mud and possibly blood or other viscera follows the elf "Thank you Laddie for the the accommodations but I do prefer to sleep under the stars, if you catch what i mean."
The dwarf looks for a small spot next to the buildings where he can set a place to sleep.
"Oh yes I won' be missen dinner."

![]() |

A lithe woman of Tien descent sets her pack down. Her studded leather armor is dyed black, even the rivits refuse to reflect light. Walking up to Deenha and pointing to the lute, "You get a chance to play that much?"

![]() |

A stout man stands to the back as the VC explains the task ahead., His eyes are a bit too close together, but a broad grin gleams over his blond, fluffy beard. An overstuff pack seems to weigh him down, though he doesn't seem the least bit bothered. An odd birthmark resembling a closed fist stands out against his pale features.
Slowly, he speaks in broken common, "Tis gud M'dear. Me last 'signment 'as rough."
Lumbering along with the others behind their guide, he listens intently to the instructions provided. "Tanks elfy! Durvak dere fer dinner!" he replies to the man's trailing back.
Alone with his new companions, he finally introduces himself. "Ello. Me Durvak o da Stoutheart's. Me follow bestest Irori." Pausing as he scratches his beard, as if there's something else....something he should share... His eyes lighting up, he blurts "Oye! Me kin make ground go 'BOOM'. Iffen I touch ground, maybe no step dere."

With a bow, "I am honoered to make your acquaintance. My name is Gōsutohasu, but The Society found that...off putting, or too difficult to spell on my paperwork, so they have started calling me Wraith."

GM Z..D.. |

I count five, still missing one.
The group of PC's enjoy a nice dinner with Ms Heidmarch and her guest. After dinner they head back to their cottage. The part day of the dinner was for faction missions and such. If we were not on a time crunch, I would let you play out. But since individual faction missions do not matter much, I am skipping it this time around.
Let me know if you are going up to bed or staying down below to chat among each other.

Joining the group late is a powerfully built humanoid with slightly gray skin and ears coming to a tiny point. They are dressed in heavy furs and animal skins, clearly noting them from the north of the continent. Bare skin is covered heavily in tattoos denoting hunting scenes and dinosaurs. A mighty bow made of horn is slung over one shoulder and a hunting knife sheathed in their belt. Nodding to the group as they place a heavy bed roll down they smile awkwardly revealing small tusks as well as teeth.
"H-hello Pathfinders" they say in slowly halting common, revealing their poor education. "I. Am. Kargath. Raptorscale."

![]() |

Tolinath greets his fellow Pathfinders after dinner. "Aren't we a lovely lot" Tolinath let's out a great laugh. "I look for ward to sharing adventures with you whilst we are stationed here for the time being. Feel free to call me Red, most do once l once they see me in battle"

Overwhelmed by the options at the Heidmarch Manor, Kargath stuck to basic foods to cover his hunger, tearing at the bread with his bare callused hands and resting with elbows upon the table cloth. It was clear where he stemmed from held little value in manners for he seemed ignorant of them.
Returning to their appointed room, the Archer of the Mammoth Lords rolls out their coarse bedroll in a free space and lays their blanket down with their backpack as a pillow, ignoring the bed offered to them by the Venture-Captain.
"Kargath. Greets. You. Red." he replies slowly. "What. Is. Here. In. Varisia?"

Wraith enjoys the meal with her companions, taking care to have a moment with each of them and learning a little about them all. She tries to engage everyone, asking follow up questions or for more details. She takes special care to interact respectfully with their hostess and the other guest, even going so far as to introduce herself and inquire about them. A canny observer would notice that while Wraith listens to the exploits of others, she offers very little personal information of her own.
Later in the evening, Wraith returns to her room with a pot of steaming water so she may steep tea before her customary ritual of stretching and meditation before turning in for the night.

Durvak gladly enlightens his previous companion of his recent studies unto traditional Irori rituals over dinner, eating his fill.
Upon their return to the abode, the dwarf enjoys listening to the others tails of adventure, while offering life enriching advice.

Before dinner, Deenha continues to chat with Wraith. During dinner, she mostly remains quiet and watches the others, responding whenever politeness requires. After dinner, she talks to Theodic for a moment, and then retires to her room to practice her lute. Anyone who tries to hear what she is playing notices a plantive lulaby.

The goblin looks just like the token, in case you are wondering.
You caught the goblin, now what

Bounding up the stairs at the sound of commotion, Kargath draws his hunting knife, not wanting to risk damaging the priceless artwork with his arrows. Kicking open the door he finds the Wraith standing above a battered crying goblin, the former's rapier drawn. Seeing no danger here from such a pitiful creature, the Hunter sheathes their large knife and takes to one knee to be of a similar height to the goblin sneak.
"Why. Goblin. Sneak. Here?" he asks slowly and calmly. "Stealing?"

![]() |

Deenha hears the commotion and comes to see what is happening. She slowly (trying to not be threatening) checks for any magic auras on the goblin. using detect magic.

GM Z..D.. |

The Goblin turns his head, as if it no hearing.
After it speaks she spits at Kargaths feet. By the sound of the voice, you beleive the goblin may be female.
@Deenha, you detect three magic auras from the Goblin

![]() |

"You do realize that you begged my to stop hitting you in the Common tongue. Do you really expect us to accept that you cannot understand what we are saying? Start talking or else I will write every word you say on paper. That should steal the words from your mind forever. Now why were you robbing us? Surely there must be easier marks than The Pathfinder Society Lodge house around Magnimar."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 (+1 if she(?) could be attracted to me, which I kind of hope not. Ick!)

![]() |

Guys, there's three magic auras on her. One of us should gently search her for magic gear. It's even possible one of the magic auras is something she stole from one of us.

GM Z..D.. |

Not a chance on the attraction you nasty longshank
The Goblin smiles coyly up at the Rogue, You no still my words. You cant if I no speak. Ha..ha She laughs at your verbal threat, she knew that it would happen.
She swings the caged skull around front and begins talking to it, See Plarg, these long shanks sooo stoopid, trying to threaten Ekkie with stealing words, but not one has paper.

![]() |

Deenha starts to play her lute and sing.
Ekkie the coward,
she couldn't speak,
she was so afraid;
she barked just like a dog
she neighed just like a horse,
but Ekkie couldn't speak.
She kissed the holy symbol,
but still she couldn't speak
for Ekkie the coward
was filled with fear.
"If you don't tell us the truth, I will make sure that everyone everywhere knows my song about how much of a coward you are, Ekkie."

![]() |

Kargath's brow furrows as Ekkie curses in the mongrel tongue of the Goblin-folk, wondering if she was gaving a seizure before realising it was intended to be conversation. As Ekkie spits at his feet, Kargath's eyes narrow in barely concealed fury as his hand reaches for his hunting knife. He retorts in the language of his own peoples, though his tone clearly shows threat.

Seeing the situation quickly deteriorating, the dwarf steps between the Goblin and his companion.
"No 'urt vile beast! Is caught."

Tolinath comes bounding up the steps hearing of the squabble coming from the room. He comes in to here the goblin spouting nonsense seeing it spit at the tall half orc Hunter Tolinath greets the goblin in just kind.
Tolinath unhooks the large Dwarven Waraxe from his back and swinging it around nimbly in the small quarters he slams it down within inches of the goblins position.
"Now here me you meddlesome little good fer nothin'. You best be tell us what we want to know or Jezebelle here" Tolinath parts his axe "She will be teaching you the meaning of pain bit by bloody bit."

Aid, Intimidate: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

GM Z..D.. |

Ekkie continues to laugh at the group and their threats, she sets the skull down beside her and sits to face it. Don these longshanks no you catch more flies with fresh horse meat than sewage.
You begin to realize that threats/intimidate do not seem to be changing her mood one way or the other.

![]() |

If not the stick, then maybe the carrot.
Wraith heads to the kitchen and returns with candy and other sweet tasting desserts.
"I can see Ekkie is brave. Is she also hungry? Yumm, these are so delicious. You can have some, if you answer a few questions." With that, the rogue takes a bite.

GM Z..D.. |

No sweets, spicy is better. Give food, get talk. She hands holds out her hand.
Wraith, you feel that she is growing more trusting towards you
After getting her some spicy dried meet she lets loose.
“Even out in the swamp, we heard stories about the Nightsoil Marauders—a gang of goblins in the longshanks city. When Murg tried to bite off my ear—again!—I left the swamp and came to the city to join up. I met some other goblins outside the city and they sneaked me inside. They took me through the smelly tunnels and made me wait outside their lair. An important-looking goblin with a big, dangly hat came out and stared at me. He said his name was Versevosh. I thought he was the boss, but he said that the big boss is much scarier than him. Versevosh said rude things about me and my tribe and said I’d have to prove myself if I wanted to join the gang. He said I’d have to steal shiny things from a tribe of longshanks in the city. He showed me drawings of what to look for.”
She shows the group the wayfinder she has tied to her belt, pointing to the symbol of the open road. I was supposed to look for this symbol and take items from these longshanks. The other goblins showed me the way through the smelly tunnels to the horse-killing place. I like that place, ‘cause they cut up horses there and you can see their insides and I got lots of dead horse to eat. The goblins said to steal from the big house then go back to the horse killing place, then they ran off. It was almost sunrise and I could hear longshanks so I hid. Later I sneaked up to the big house and took some shiny things from the small houses, but then you caught me.

Kargath listens to the tale, his mouth grim as she speaks of the goblin infestation in this city. His hunter's mind considering the landmarks given to them by the now talkative goblin he nods thoughtfully and sheathes his knife before getting to his feet. Looking at his companions for a moment be speaks once more in his halting Taldane.
"Abattoir. Kill. Horses. Goblins. In. Sewers?" he asks unsure due to spending little time in the cities of Golarion. "Where. Ekkie. Get. Symbol?"

![]() |

Breathing a sigh of relief, the cleric steps aside to give Wraith more room with their captive. Listening to the 'Ekkie' tell her tail, scowling at the moment, he nods his head.
"Vile gobbie desire more... Me no tink gobbies able do more en steal an break tings. Ya take us ta lair! An give back wat stole." he orders the goblin.
Turning to the others, "We tell lady o dis. Need ta search gobbie fer stolen stuffs."

![]() |

"Hey, you big scary bruisers get away from Ekkie. I agree that we need to search her, but why make it worse that it needs to be?"
"Ekkie, we need to search you. Do you want me to do it, or Wraith, who you already are talking to?"

GM Z..D.. |

No longshank touch Ekkie She pulls the wayfinder off her belt and tossed it on the ground and pulls what looks like a red pearl necklace from around her bulbous head and lays them on the floor. Thats all I gots from houses. Everything else is Ekkie and Plarges
On the inside of the wayfinder is the name Joadric Heimurl, who you all remember is a kellid male staying in the adjacent house.

![]() |

"OK,Ekkie, hold still while I search you without touching, then."
Using detect magic to check where any remaining magic auras on her are coming from. Then I will nicely ask her about anything I turn up.

GM Z..D.. |

Yes, everything else on her is Mundane. The other magic you are detecting is the wayfinder and reddish pearl necklace on the ground.

![]() |

"Do you think you could lead us back to the horse place?" Wraith inquires.
To the team, out of earshot, "In any case, we should notify the Captain and let her know that her home is now a target."

GM Z..D.. |

Ekkie will take you there if you gives me more spicy meats and you let Ekkie go outside if city.

If you wish to speak with Ms Heidmarch, she can be found in the main house.
Yes, go into the sewers and stamp out this goblin menace that threatens the pathfinder society. She stares down her nose at the goblin and sneers. And I do not care what you do with that thing, just get it out of this city
