GM Abraham |
Welcome to #7-11 Ancient's Anguish (tier 7-11) for Outpost I, an online PbP convention. Play will begin on March 5.
GM Abraham |
Please post the following:
1) Character name
2) Player name
3) PFS #
4) Faction
5) Regular progression or slow?
6) Day Job roll
7) Anything unusual I should know about your character?
Sard Osaam |
1) Sard Osaam
2) Dennis Muldoon
3) 215589-6
4) Scarab Sages
5) Regular
6) Day jobs are for nerd wizards
7) Ifrit Fire Affinity means I cast elemental (fire) bloodline spells and use bloodline powers at +1 CL. I also have a Through Maelstrom Rift credit on this character, which means I have some random elemental resistances and such.
Narika |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
1) Character name: Narika
2) Player name: Redelia
3) PFS #:184425-2
4) Faction: Liberty's Edge
5) Regular progression or slow: regular
6) Day Job roll: Profession(librarian) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
7) Anything unusual I should know about your character?
Narika frequently changes the damage type of spells to cold (bloodline power). She also has cold resistance 10
She has a potty mouth, enjoying being blasphemous to Asmodeus and disrespectful to Abigail Thrune, but these remarks are usually only inferred.
The fire and ice setup here may be interesting.
If we get the hint in the mission briefing that we might be facing elementals, Narika has a boon that lets her once check out from the society a very strong anti-elemental weapon. She would put this into the hands of a strong fighter type in the party.
GM Abraham |
Narika, out of curiosity, how do you have Empower Spell-Like Ability as a feat? I thought that was a monster-only feat...
Fahd Bin Stavain PFS |
Character Name: Fahd Bin Stavain PFS
Player Name: Gerald
PFS: 12445-11
Faction: Scarab Sages
Progression: regular
Day job: profession Bouncer 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Narika |
I'm glad you caught that. Evidently my character building software lied to me about if something was legal. I will swap the feat out for something else I could have taken at the same level. I will let you know when that is done.
edit: I have taken point-blank shot instead. The character sheet may require a bit of updating in other places due to this change. I apologize for the inconvenience to you, GM.
GM Abraham |
No worries at all - I like seeing how other people have built their characters - thought maybe you had a boon or some other quirk.
Ali Salujah |
1) Character name Ali Baba bin Scarab (the name on the account notwithstanding, I changed the name but after I had locked the name in on the account :/)
2) Player name Douglas Edwards
3) PFS # 133118-2
4) Faction Scarab Sages
5) Regular progression or slow? Regular
6) Day Job roll I am a Sage, no more, no less.
7) Anything unusual I should know about your character?
I need a token for a flying helmet/cassissian angel for my familiar, which I can use to deliver Lay on Hands or Channel Energy as though I had myself done those things.
I also have an item called the Phylactery of the Good Shepherd which allows me to tag 3 people with a status spell that I can dispel to do a lay on hands at 30 foot range as a swift action on that person.
Also note this profile is in need of some updating which I will get to later.
Sard Osaam |
Sard's profile is a lie. He's currently level 8, and will be level 9 on Thursday. I'll get his profile updated then. It's been a while since I've played him in PbP.
GM Abraham |
All: please check this PC's chronicle sheets and let me know if you've played 6-04 Beacon Below with him or her, and if so, whether your PC has either the Recruiter of Badru or the Recruiter of Saruna boons.
Fahd Bin Stavain PFS |
Fahd has none of the above, DM. He’s been more of a Seafaring type of guy in his career!
Sard Osaam |
Not on this character.
Gerald |
Guys, Fahd is caught up in a game that has went on far longer than I originally thought (since November). It doesn’t look like he will be free. I have a skills character at level 11 and an Illusionist at level 10. I can play either of those or I could do a 7th level pregen if everyone would prefer low tier.
I’m fine either way. Just let me know the preference.
Edit: good news, both possible characters are level 10 so we would have the choice of how to proceed.
GM Abraham |
By my calculations, if you play your 11 your total levels will 35 (7+8+9+11), meaning low tier without the 4 player adjustment.
If you play your 10 your APL is 8.5, giving you the option of rounding up (low tier without the 4 player adj) or rounding down (low tier with 4 player adj). But you’ll also have 3 arcane casters in a party of 4.
If you play a pregen 7 your APL 31, squarely in low tier with 4 player adj.
FYI.
Gerald |
Thanks for doing the math, DM. That stuff hurts my head.
Group, please chime in. I’m fine either way, but I don’t want to make a decision the group might not be in favor of all willy nilly.
Thanks.
Edit: good news. The skills Character is level 10 as well. I will play her. But I’ll leave the option of rounding up or rounding down to the rest of you, due to my screw up here. Sorry for the mix up. Shel ‘s profile is incoming.
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Character Name: Shel Whispertongue PFS (also known as The Baroness, when she’s feeling the official title necessary!)
Player Name: Gerald
PFS: 12445-3
Faction: Sovreign Court
Progression: regular
Day job: none.
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Nothing special to know about Shel, she’s skills oriented, and is a terror against humans with her favored enemy bonus and her human bane kukri.
Yanndu |
1) Character name: Yanndu
2) Player name: GM PDK
3) PFS #: 4456-5
4) Faction: DA
5) Regular progression or slow?: Regular
6) Day Job roll: Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
7) Anything unusual I should know about your character?
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE GM
How has your character grown in Pathfinder Society? Tell me a bit about one or two highlights on your personal journey. Yanndu's fascination with Pharasma and the River of Soul is what brought him to Avistan and convinced him to leave his contemplations at the Mordant Spire. Upon discovering that a simple mortal had found a loophole in the grand order of things - a nonmagical one no less - which could cause a soul to stall forever upon the mortal plane, he decided to serve as liaison for the Pathfinder Society, and has since participated in many Grand Lodge ventures from the Verdurant Forest to the Shackles. Lately, he has reduced his travels and shifted his efforts on the cataloging and study of artifacts and relics assigned to the Dark Archives, establishing an information web of scholars and procurers of rare goods. He has requested the services of a younger elf scholar named Lanliss to assist him in compiling all this information and keep track of the more dreary and mundane details, but in fact this decision was also made to ensure future knowledge transfer of the Dark Archives information compiling efforts, which he sees doomed to disappear to the lapping waves of history if left in the hands of humans and other short-lived races. If the Grand Lodge or Absalom disappears altogether, then at least the information can be salvaged and held secure in his homeland or... beyond...
Are there any special rules, equipment or other abilities that I need to know about for this character? In addition, if you have something that is made legal only by a boon, please list it here. Occult Skill Unlocks may be used at times but I will quote/spoiler the abilities in question. Yanndu has the Empath feat which accelerates the use of the Read Aura occult skill.
Alignment Neutral
Typical skills required by the GM*
Bluff 0
Diplomacy 0
Disable Device N/A
Intimidate 0
Linguistics 20
Perception/Read Aura 18
Sense Motive/Prognostication 16
Stealth 3 (23 while invisible i.e. vanish or greater invisibility)
*NOTE: these skills take into account Yanndu will be level 11 by the time this adventure starts.
Do you have Wayfinders? Where do you wear them? regular/standard Wayfinder, kept inside his Handy Haversack.
GM Abraham |
Yanndu, please be sure to also add yourself on the Outpost sign-up spread sheet (line 65) to help the organizers keep track of open seats at tables. Thanks!
GM Abraham |
Again i need to note that my profile is currently a lie and that I am 11th level.
Oops, I had missed that - thanks for pointing it out. So, everyone, is this correct?
Sard Osaam, Sorcerer 9
Narika, Sorcerer 7
Ali Salujah, Paladin 11
Shel Whispertongue, Ranger/Rogue 10
Yanndu, Psychic 10
If so, total party levels = 47, for an APL of 9.4, which rounds down to 9, which - with 5 players - means playing up with the 4 player adjustment.
Please let me know if I've goofed.
Yanndu |
Yanndu will be 11.
Yanndu |
Yanndu, please be sure to also add yourself on the Outpost sign-up spread sheet (line 65) to help the organizers keep track of open seats at tables. Thanks!
Done
GM Abraham |
Ok, that makes for an APL of 9.6, which rounds to 10, which means playing up without the 4 player adjustment.
Narika |
Hey, guys, I can't seem to kick the illnesses in my household, so I need to lighten my load for OutPost slightly. For that reason, I need to back out of this game. I apologize for any extra work I've made for anyone. I'll remove myself from the spreadsheet; could you please mark me (player and character) as inactive, GM?
I hope you guys all have a fun game.
GM Abraham |
Sure, and sorry to see you go. I don't know how to mark you as inactive - can someone please tell me how to do that?
Narika |
If you go to the first tab at the top that says 'campaign info' you will see an option to edit the campaign. If you do that and uncheck 'Redelia' from players and 'Narika' from characters, the game will disappear from my active campaigns and I'll be moved to inactive in the players and characters tabs.

Done. I'll be playing at your table of Halflight (with my druid, Otto) so see you there!
Chyras LeBlanc |
Greetings all, i saw the vacancies so i had to be quick for the chance. :)
1) Character name: Chyras LeBlanc
2) Player name: Chyrone
3) PFS # : 119488-4
4) Faction: Grand Lodge
5) Regular progression or slow?: Regular progression
6) Day Job roll
Craft: translation dictionary, guidance: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
7) Anything unusual I should know about your character?
Chyras has a cajun accent, a bit of a brash personality, but tries diplomacy before force.
Chyras had just enough XP under his belt to remain vanilla when the unchained version came out.
I'll be updating his profile to lvl 7 in the coming days, as 3 levels are from modules credited to him.
GM Abraham |
Ok, with Narika (7) dropping and Chyras (7) adding, we are still at 5 players with an APL of 9.6, which translates to playing the upper tier without the 4 player adjustment. May Iomedae watch over you!
Chyras LeBlanc |
I hope that number of players changes to 6, tier 7-8 he could cope, but tier 10-11... XD
Toss desposable summons at it, and hope for the best, me thinks?

Any chance of finding a 6th player to either (a) give us a fighting chance at playing up or (b) bring the APL down? If we're playing up with a marginal party, I know I'd feel better if it was at least a party of 6 (though I've seen Yanndu in action, so i'm not too worried).

I've done what I can to find a sixth player, but I encourage y'all to also reach out to your friends/acquaintances/enemies. For what it's worth, with the math the way it is, adding a 6th player who is level 7 or 8 just drops you to high tier with the 4 player adjustment.
Sard Osaam |
I think adding a 10-11 player to have a less-marginal party (particularly someone to share the front-line load with Ali) would be a better option.
Chyras LeBlanc |
The frontline aspect is a fair point.
An eidolon/summon is more a limited support than a specced PC frontliner.
Who's the medic btw? :)
Sard Osaam |
Well, the Paladin can presumably keep herself upright with Lay on Hands. The ranger/rogue can use a wand of CLW, I have a wand of Infernal Healing for out of combat needs.
Tafhat |
Hey, guys. Late to the show, but I'll bring Sajan to the game. For simplicity, I'll just put his stats in my character's block when I get the chance.
GM Abraham |
Welcome everyone! The APL is now 9.1 which rounds to 9, which means we are playing high tier with the 4 player adjustment.
Chyras LeBlanc |
A surprise family weekend is at my doorstep, starting tomorrow evening.
Along with stuff to do this evening, this prevents me from the leisure of going through my chronicle sheets and properly lvl his gear and him by the time Outpost starts.
This leaves me with a predicament. I'd otherwise use a pregen, but.....since playing a non-1st lvl pregen requires the chronicle (assuming the team wins ^^) to go to a lower-than-pregen-lvl PC, i have no regular PC that would see lvl 7 anytime soon.
That gives me the impression it'd be better to vacate my spot for another.
:/
Edit: i removed myself from the spreadsheet.
Happy hunting everyone, go kick ass.
noral |
Hi guys,
I hope you are well.
I just now entered my details into the online Exel of 'Online Campaigns - Outpost 1' and would very much like to participate in the game now.
I am a long-time PF player but I do not have a PFS character in that Tier so I would play iconic Enora as an Arcanist 7 and stay in the back as a support character in fights.
Best, Enora
Sard Osaam |
Psychic, Sorceror, Arcanist. We've got a lot of stand in the back and cast types.
