Galenus |

While holding the door open for everyone else to get out, Galenus takes a moment to look for his pet spider, and if it's still around, he takes the little guy with him. Come on, Ceda, let's get out of here.
Once everyone is ushered out, he'll follow suit with a leap off the cliff side.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Stool--NPC |

Stool nods silently at Tiberius and holds on tightly around Tiberius' waist as he begins climbing down. But Tiberius finds the wet rock hard to climb down.
Tiberius Athletics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Tiberius Athletics disadv: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
But the dragon man's great strength manages to hold onto the rock. He can barely see the other prisoners go sailing overhead as they jump nimbly past the spider webs and splash into the pool. Even the orc seems to come to in time and jumps out after the rest. Tiberius makes it down to the bottom and stands near the edge of the pool.
Then a strange and unfamiliar voice speaks into all your minds.
Flesh for the faceless lord!
The center of the pool raises up in an amorphous blob that begins moving toward you. There are three passages leading out of this cavern to the north, the west, and the south.
Cyrus, where are you right now?
All: Those without darkvision can't see down here and either need light or to be led by the hand.

Cyrus Darkwater |

Cyrus tries his luck once more and creeps across the bridge toward the armory.
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Tiberius Vorrack Kerrhylon |

Oddly enough, Dragonborn do NOT get darkvision. huh. Also, I think I have 3/5 hit points left from my healing reserve.
Stool, can you see in this darkness? If so, which way do I go? My eyes are not suited for these depths.
At the voice in his mind, he he readies his metal bar and shortsword.

Galenus |

Oh dear f+*+! Galenus exclaims, a horrified look on his face. Swim for it!
Putting words to action, Galenus swims towards the nearest exit out of the pool.

Galinndan Siannodel |

Flee towards Galenus! A blob rises from the middle of the pool!"
The mental image includes Galinndan's low-light view of Galenus and the exit both of them are urgently swimming towards.

Kanzen Millithor |

Kanzen strikes out after Galenus as well, adrenalin pumping through him.
Using second wind as a bonus action.
Second wind: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Blech. That's so disappointing.

Stool--NPC |

You find yourself in the armory. Hanging on the walls around you, you see
6 chain shirts
6 suits of studded leather armor
6 shields
6 hand crossbows
20 cases of hand crossbow bolts, each case containing 20 bolts
6 shortswords and 10 daggers
6 bags of caltrops (20 caltrops per bag)
4 100-foot-long coils of silk rope
2 building hammers (not usable as weapons)
2 bags of iron spikes (10 spikes per bag)
There is a rough cloth sack in the corner that could hold 30 pounds of gear.
The sprout replies into Tiberius' mind. Yes I can see fine. There's something scary in the middle of the pool. The rest are heading that way! No to your right! There you go! Careful! It takes a little while but Tiberius catches up with the other prisoners.
You can move at half speed while guided.
Galenus leads the charge blindly toward a tunnel, the other prisoners following him.
North 1, West 2, or South 3: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Shuushar the Awakened--NPC |

The strange ooze in the middle of the pool shudders its way towards the group but stops once its slimed its way a little bit out of the pool.
You all hear again Flesh for the Faceless Lord!
The kua-toa leans on his knees, breathing hard. He looks around.
Ah! Excellent! We can go to the Darklake this way, though it will take quite a while. We can share my teachings with my people.
Above you, you hear an other-worldly shriek.
The four strange creatures seem to have just finished off the other two and are flying away through the south tunnel. The Drow are attempting to restore order in the outpost.
Do you follow Shuushar? Without a source of illumination, you will begin traveling at a slow pace unless you leave behind those without darkvision. The options are slow, normal, and fast pace, each having their advantages and disadvantages.

Cyrus Darkwater |

Cyrus gathers some items in the sack as quickly as he can manage then throws a coil of rope over his shoulder and a dagger between his teeth before he dives off the cliff to join the others.
If the armor will fit him he'll put one on, and cut the rope down if it's to big.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
8 Daggers 8 lb
2 hand cross bows 6 lb
2 cases of bolts 3 lbs
1 Shield 6 lb
1 Bag of Spikes 4 lb (Counted as 10 pitons)
Hammer 3 lb

Galenus |

Galenus looks around to get a counting of everyone here. (Who's with us? Who made it?)
Beyond that, he's happy to follow the Kua-tao, moving at a slow pace so those who can't see can keep up. Since they're moving at a slow pace, Galenus will cast Mold Earth every so often to cover tracks and footprints in the dirt.

Kanzen Millithor |

"A torch? The dwarf doesn't even have pants. We are in desperate need of equipment and supplies."

Galinndan Siannodel |

I have no issue following Shuushar for now but we need weapons. Cyrus, can you hear me? We are in a tunnel off the lake.

Galenus |

Yes, pants would be nice, Galenus says as he waddles along. Fortunately, he is hairy enough not to show anything undue.

caster4life |

Yes you can put the armor on but that would take way too long given that you need to get out of there right now.
The ooze reacts quickly, arounsed by the previous activity in its pool. It strikes at Cyrus as he lands gracefully in the pool.
Pseudopod: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Pseudopod adv: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
but his agility is too much for the slow ooze. It shrieks into his mind
BUT I NEED YOUR FLESH!!!
Having fallen too far behind for the telepathy to work, Cyrus looks around to try to determine which tunnel his friends took.
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Unable to make out tracks on the hard stone, Cyrus heads in a random direction.
North, west, or south: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Hoo boy... that was close.
Rushing along, the goblin catches up with his allies. He nearly faints with relief when he gets close enough and hears Galinndan's voice calling to him inside his head. He rejoins the motley group led by the Kua-Toa. Three deep gnomes, the kua-toa, a strange little fungus guy, a quaggoth, a derro, a useful dwarf shield maiden, and a grumpy orc all trundle along through the Underdark with a human-looking person, two elves, two darves, a dragon-man, and a goblin.
As the group moves along slowly, they manage to catch their breath and recover some of their ability to fight.
Short rest for all. 150 xp split 7 ways (rounded up to 22 xp each) for escaping Velkynvelve. An extra 50 xp to Cyrus for risking everything to get the party some equipment.

Galinndan Siannodel |

Cyrus! Good to have you back with us!
For want of something to occupy his mind for a moment, Galinndan indulges his curiosity. After all, the group is heading for other kua-toa.
Shuushar, I have not met others of your kind. How are they different to you?

Shuushar the Awakened--NPC |

Cyrus, do you care to share with anyone else?
Those who have a hit die remaining (didn't spend in previous short rest) can do so from this short rest as you walk along calmly and carefully. Also, those who are still manacled may make or have friends make attack rolls against their manacles.
Are you using spore-telepathy with him? If so then it bypasses language.
Shuushar stares ahead with tranquility and responds to Galinndan.
My people are known for madness. It is only through long weeks of contemplation and tranquility that I have overcome this flaw of the Kuo-Toa. I will teach my people to do the same.

All but Tiberius up. Map updated. As we get more used to things, we'll decide upon marching order, how npcs act in combat, etc. For now, it's just you guys.

Galinndan Siannodel |

Oops, I forgot that. Telepathy folks, feel free to peek under my last spoiler.
HD: 1d10 ⇒ 1
Galinndan barely feels recovered after the walk.
Can we see if Cyrus shared some weapons around? Or did Galinndan see anything on the walk that could be used as an impromptu club or blade?

Irdril Tinúviel |

Geez. It appears I should have taken Undercommon as a language.. Didn't seem to fit though.
Irdril sits and rests as the others have a convo in a language she cannot understand.
Short Rest HD: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
"Can someone try to get these off of me?" she holds her wrists out..
Assuming this is prior to combat.

caster4life |

Galinndan, you recovered 3 hp because it is roll hit die and add con mod.
Given that Cyrus got a whole bunch of daggers, everyone may assume they have one. I'm assuming he would have shared. Later, we can figure out exactly who has what gear.

Shuushar the Awakened--NPC |

Shuushar tried to free Irdril at her request

Topsy manages to nimbly slip her bonds while none of the others were able to.

Cyrus Darkwater |

No pain all gain, the greedy goblin succeeds!
"I've brought plunder me boys have at it." he says dropping the sack to the ground.
Dagger for everyone(2 for me) and a pair of hand crossbows and a case of 20 bolts for each for those inclined. (For now it's first come first serve.)
---
"There ain't be time for this. Keep moving." He urges the others.

Galenus |

Before the fight Galenus tries to break the chains. Strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
Wait. I see something. Something we should make time for. I'll try and get around to toss it to you, and then we can try to make our escape.
He grabs a dager and carefully circles the monster, making his way to the treasure behind it, prepared to toss the treasure to the group and them try to make an escape.
Move with a dodge action; attacks against me are at disadvantage and I have advantage with Dex saves.

Tiberius Vorrack Kerrhylon |

Tiberious hears about weapons and exchanges his metal bar for a shield.
I'll take the shield, someone can use this metal bar I found, it should make a decent blunt weapon.
It is clear Tiberius is not fully trusting of this Kuo-toa's "sanity".
Tiberius curses under his breath. Curse this dark place, I cannot see anything.

caster4life |

Why is the party wizard the one nailing the strength checks?
Galenus breaks free from his chains, the muscles he built up carrying around all those magical books bulging and making him look absolutely jacked.
Galenus, assuming Cyrus moves out of the way (since he wanted to move on) I moved you as far as you can get with 25 ft of movement.
All: So far, Galenus is the only one who has taken some action in this combat. If you want to run away, just let me know you're using the dash action or something.

Shuushar the Awakened--NPC |

The kuo-toa nods at Tiberius' complaints.
I can't absolutely guarantee we wouldn't be bothered. Sometimes my people get bizarre ideas in their heads but generally it's nothing too harmful.
Hearing Tiberius' complains, Shuushar holds him back and thinks to the others.
Do be careful! There are some dangerous beasts to our left.
Tiberius, you may roll insight in this conversation with Shuushar, if you wish. I'm getting the sense that I pushed us into this encounter a little quicker than we were ready for but there will be plenty of time to talk and plan right after this.

Galinndan Siannodel |

Huzzah! So he's up to 4 HP now. :) And I forgot to try again to slip those chains off.
Dex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Galinndan is pleased to see Cyrus.
"Well done! And a dagger is most welcome."
He takes it, feeling the balance.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
To Tiberius:
"I work better with blades, but I appreciate the offer."
Galinndan, seeing Galenus moving in, readies his dagger and himself.
I will hold, either to catch or to charge."

Kanzen Millithor |

Before the fight:
Kanzen gives Topsy an empty look at her remark about stinking drow, but says nothing. He moves towards Cyrus, taking a dagger with a nod of thanks.
Are we currently in combat? Also, did my check before to slip out the manacles succeed? I rolled a 19. Guessing it's DC 20...

Stool--NPC |

Yes we are in combat but we seem a little bogged down. I think it's time for some botting. The DC is indeed 20.
Stool speaks into Tiberius' head
There are a bunch of creepers over there! If you step over there, you'll be right in front of all of them.
Tiberius, Shuushar seems perfectly sane and sincere to you. Also, you may act as if you know where the enemies are for this round.

caster4life |

Go ahead.
The centipedes move up to Galenus and Galinndan, who strike at them with their daggers.
Galenus attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Galenus damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Galinndan attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Galinndan attack disad: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Galinndan damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Galenus bisects one of the many-legged crawlers while Galinndan, hampered by his chains, can't quite land a blow on the other while it winds towards him.

Galinndan Siannodel |

Galinndan keeps slashing at the crawler.
Galenus and I are under attack here.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Attack dis.: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

caster4life |

Technically it wasn't your turn yet Galinndan but that's fine. The monsters moved up and you and Galenus attacked with readied actions. I wanted to give Tiberius an opportunity to attack but the monsters will go ahead and finish their turn.
The monsters chitter, chatter, and hiss horrendously and attack Galinndan and Galenus with their alien fangs.
Bite Galenus: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Dam Galenus: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Con Galenus: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Dam Galinndan: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Con Galinndan: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Both of the brave front-liners fall under the fangs of the strange creepy crawlies.
Galenus and Galinndan, make death saving throws. The rest of the party should act now. I rule that the square of an unconscious creature counts as difficult terrain. This is basically RAW except by RAW you can't end your turn in an unconscious creature's square.

Cyrus Darkwater |

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Disadvantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
If these things are Med. Size I'll use Fury of the Small for +1 Dmg.
"Does no an' listen to reason around here?" Cyrus grumbles under his breath as he approaches the creatures with his dagger. He swipes at the creature before tumbling away.
Move in, Attack, Disengage(Bonus), Move out

Galenus |

FYI, I took the dodge action to grant the enemy disadvantage, rather than attacking. Not sure if you missed that as I was botted for the attack.
Enemy Disadvantage: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

caster4life |

Oh sorry, Galenus. My bad. I was thinking of that in terms of moving through the centipedes to reach the equipment and thought that, since you couldn't get very far, that wasn't what you actually wanted. My apologies.
Cyrus destroys another one of the terrors, leaving only one remaining, rasping and hissing its strange mouthparts.

Galenus |

Haha! Yeah, that makes sense. But I only have 1 HP with no armor. I didn't want to risk it; let the better combatants take them down while I dodge and go for the treasure, meager as it looks. :)
