Derendil smiles broadly, showing bizarre, large teeth. "Ah yes... The mean... nothing like it..."

"Indeed, indeed! There are none other like them! Tell me, what was your favorite variety?"

Derendil sniffs his ale and thinks telepathically to Galinndan with a sigh "Ah... regrettably these ales pale in comparison to the fine brews of my golden forest homeland..." The massive quaggoth does his best to sip daintily.

The elf-prince turned quaggoth echoes Stool's question. "Where next indeed? There was mention of turning to the deep gnomes in Blingdenstone. Perhaps they have a route back to my kingdom on the surface... There my true form may be restored to me..."

Derendil greatly savors his conversations with Kanzen, speaking in elegant, flowing elvish. "Ah I fear my I will never see my beautiful home in Nelrindenvane again... It was lovely beyond compare..." he looks at the bloodstains on his fur from fighting the kuo-toa and shakes his head in regret. "Worse, I fear the savagery of this form is taking over... It is hard not to lash out blindly when the bloodlust is upon me..."

Derendil nods his huge shaggy head. "Indeed. Though I do not worship your goddess, she is one of the few of this dark land who's name I can hear in peace. For my part, I thank Corellon that I am not completely surrounded by maniacs. That other Drow prisoner, Sarith, seemed to have some homicidal psychosis..."

The hulking quaggoth stands next to Kanzen and grumbles in his thoughts

"Necessary or no, it is not fit for one of us elves to strike another. I do not see why you make light of the matter, good Kanzen!"

Galinndan does not find food in this poorer area and certainly not while traveling at a fast pace. He does find a small cave in which the travelers could rest, if they wish.

Derendil replies in Elvish with a polite nod "Certainly." He picks the dwarf up and begins carrying him along. He politely declines to comment on the dwarf's stench or lack of proper clothes.

The quaggoth nods and warmly shakes Kanzen's hand. But he is soon interrupted by the female deep gnome.

The quaggoth nods gravely toward Kanzen.

A noble finish, my fellow elf-kin. Let us forget the hatred between our peoples and united in our deeper ancestry.

Kanzen gets Derendil's NPC card!

Derendil's NPC card for Kanzen's use:

Derendil: 1/minute: Derendil’s bulk and strength make it difficult to maneuver around him. When activating this ability, Derendil makes a creature of your choice treat the ground within 15 feet of you as difficult terrain for 1 minute.
1/day: Derendil’s brute strength can shove creatures around the battlefield. Push one enemy no more than one size larger than Derendil and within 10 feet of you 10 feet in any direction. If this would move an enemy into something harmful (e.g. off a cliff, into a trap), they may make a DC 12 dexterity or strength saving throw to avoid being pushed.
Expend your inspiration: When angered, Derendil can unleash devastating attacks with his huge hairy fists. When a creature damages you with a melee attack, Derendil deals half that damage to the creature.

The noble elven prince-turned Quaggoth shakes his head wearily.

He ever carries on and on about his own brilliance...

The quaggoth speaks back into the minds of those around him in response to Galenus.

Sir, I am no quaggoth but an elven prince of beautiful sunlit lands.

Kanzen and Galinndan manage to stash a few weapons.

Which of the npcs are you sharing spores with? So far, it's just Derendil by my reckoning.

Sir Dwarf, I would appreciate it if you moderated your language. My people are a noble and compassionate race.

The quaggoth tries to wrench himself free of his bonds, seeing others attempting the same.

Str check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

But even his hulking form seems unable to manage it.

Next work crew guards coming pretty soon. What else do you do?

I, for one, hear you quite clearly.

The small myconid releases a puff of spores that Eddrikk inhales before he knows what is happening. He then also hears the Quaggoth speaking in his mind, as does Tiberius.

Yes, cooperation is wise. As for the source of my own captivity, an evil wizard stole my crown, trapped me in this form, and sold me to the Drow to be rid of me.

The Quaggoth responds to Eddrikk again but he is not speaking Undercommon.

The quaggoth stands up straight when Eddrikk addresses him and bows deeply at the waist. He replies in a language that Eddrikk (nor any of the other PCs in the pen) does not recognize.

DC 10 Nature:

Typically, quaggoths do not make formal bows. Additionally, they usually speak Undercommon.
