Here is Thurio Jeggare. The goal is to have the 6th level be a Fighter dip and grab Arcane Armor Training either with the bonus feat or at 7th so he can start as a Signifer at 7. The obedience feat is planned for later as well.

Background:
He was born a member of House Jeggare, possibly the richest Chelish family, who have holdings all over Avistan. He grew up in Korvosa where his direct family made money smuggling into Nidal for enormous profits. In his early teens he got involved in the smuggling but they got caught, his father being arrested in Nidal. Thurio got away with a slap on the wrist due to his age and his family's influence. His father wasn't that lucky. Thurio then decided to better his live.

He signed up for the Acadamae but found that, while he had a talent for magic, it wasn't for conjuration. It was though in divination and transmutation, the same two schools of magic his father used to avoid getting caught and hide the contraband. He could do it, just not to the extend that was expected. In a desperate bid for power he brokered a deal with some unknown entity via a local witch, but that didn't bring him what he wanted either.

In the end he dropped out and, together with his mother, he joined the bulk of his House in Egorian. There he worked for quite some time, helping the family business. There he did well and his magical abilities were put to great use.

It was a simultaneous attack on all family holdings in and around Westcrown that pushed him towards the Hellknights. In the attack he lost three cousins and an uncle as well as a large number of employees. All killed by criminals who then absconded with almost all of the goods stored in the warehouses. Thurio was devastated. On the one hand he wished he'd been there but he knew he'd just be another dead body. There were Order of the Scourge Hellknights investigating the attacks but they couldn't bring back his family. The only way would have been to prevent this all from happening but there was only one group capable of doing that.

Very good, glad to have another wizard, and even more glad that you're actually going to take signifer levels. Still reviewing (might be a while since I'm super busy today). Out of curiosity do you have something planned for the insanity patron/why did you choose that one?

The idea is that the one behind it is actually Alichino, one of the Malebranche and a demigod of deception, madness and royalty. The deal they made isn't of the selling your soul kind more that he is bound to get used as a pawn by Alichino at some point. Probably at a moment Alichino finds it most entertaining, after all he is the 'Jester Prince of the Cage'.

Heya! Just stating I'm still certainly interested in this, and brewing up a Spellkiller Ranged Inquisitor, actually making the suboptimal decision to hit up that Signifer.

And I have an interesting flavor for him, but I wanna save it for the full reveal xD

Question - in your requirements you said

I had planned on creating a Fighter 1/Wizard 5/EK 2 before jumping to Hellknight Signifier. Seeing as EK is a popular build into a Hellknight Signifier, is it allowable to delay my entry a bit? If not I will have to rethink my build options.

Thank you.

Do animal (or in my case outsider) companions also get maximum hit points?

A chance to be joinin' up with Hellknights once you get past the devil fitin' iniation part (where you dies and loose your body n' stuff)?

Hawt Diggetty Dawg! ;)

May just have to see what kinda character and backup character I'd could come up with.

Probably will consider a Spiritualist with the Phantom Blade/Fractured Mind archetypes or an Unchained Monk with the Scaled Fist/Invested Regent archetypes.

Hey guys. Sorry for my lack of posting. My weekend ended up involving significantly more travel than expected. I'll try to post some, but since I'm on my phone and the battery is neigh unto death don't expect much.

Don't worry, it won't be as suboptimal as you might think. Remember I wrote this around everybody being Hellknights ;)

No. You can take a signifer level and then go back into ek if you want. But I'm not sure why you super need two levels anyway. The only thing that second level will get you is spellcasting, which signifer also gets you.

Fluff:
The sun rose over the white-capped peaks of the Menador Mountains casting an orange-ish hue over the many open tomes scattered on the highly polished cherry wood table. Running a toe up and down the devil carved legs, Gerontius pushed his hand through his damp auburn locks. Still slightly winded from his morning routine of physical perfection, he nibbled absently on expensive cheese smuggled out of Galt. The cost of the cheese more than a regular family's yearly wages, boasted about by cheese mongers throughout the Inner Sea, Gerontius's mind didn't even register a taste. Mechanically, he knew his body needed nourishment, protein, and this is what was available to him.

Hearing footfalls on the uncarpeted sections of flagstone of his parent's mountain villa, Gerontius slid his hand under one of the larger tomes, gripping the familiar haft of a dagger.

A beautiful woman, a bit aged around the eyes, gracefully slid across the room. Her perfume wafted around, cloying to the senses, and made coherent thoughts skitter like a new born deer on an icy pond. Behind her rumbled a massive humanoid form. Creaking, banging, grinding, the humanoid was clad from sabatons to armet in dark metal. Its cuirass etched in diabolic images; its rondel the Infernal eye staring from a portal that all knew signified the resplendent Order of the Gate. That armored visage was more than enough to empty bowel and bladder of any and all, but Gerontius merely relaxed his hand, kept it in place, and turned to the duo.

"Mother." he nodded slightly in deference, "Virdon." the youth acknowledged the armored Hellnight. "That you heeded my summons means that I have piqued your interest or your slave shipment is late from Egorian. " ignoring the tsk from his mother and low growl from Virdon, Gerontius continued conversationally. "Though your late parents stored treasures for you here, unbeknownst to you, your dear husband has squandered all of it. Let me say that again. All of it. Ledger after ledger I have poured through has indicated his financial stupidity. Look here, an invoice for an shipment to Realm of the Mammoth Lords. Yet when I crosschecked in Pezzack he sent ice. Yes, ice to the Realm of the Mammoth Lords. And that is not the most grievous instance of his incompetence.

"He is not the first nor the last to be befuddled by the economics of wealth, and for this I would spare his life, except I have recently heard some disquieting rumors. Once you separate the screams of pain and petitions to extending a putrid life for a minute or two, it is amazing what one can actually learn. It seems that father, whether he is blackmailed or just that desperate, has allied himself with a group to try overthrow the diabolic Thrice-Damned House of Thrune in Pezzack once again. I will be dammed if the Third Ashes will ever come and hell help us if our name is attached to such a stain. Sedition he has chosen.

"You have obviously forgiven him in your ignorance, or you are complicit in his treason. Regardless, I caution you to step carefully, for I aspire to join the ranks of the Hellknights. My course is clear, my conscious is firm, and my arm strong. Father shall die tonight, and if you are guilty, so shall you. Get in my way Virdon, and I will string you up alive in your armor, strip all insignia that represents the most holy Order of the Gate and let the carrion feast on your flesh.

"Judgment in the face of depravity." You have been warned."

The next morning
Rope creaking in the wind, the armored knight swung lazily in the breeze like a pendulum. Slowly a crow circling overhead descended to the steel grey pauldron. Its beak flashing out, it plucked the half-orc's eye before it swallowed it whole. Blood dripped in rivulets onto the corpses of a man and woman intertwined below.

Turning from the scene hand walking away, Gerontius pulled himself up on his mare and kicked for home.

Build looks good. Looks like you can take some more languages, but other than that seems fine. What's his backstory?

Very well written backstory, liking that. Build looks good, very curious to see how it's going to play. Confirm you're ready and we'll start your Test.

Kelsius Bervard is a preacher of Asmodeus. Through his travels, he has encountered various dangers and found it time to step forward. Seeing the need for order at any cost, he has chosen to apply for the Order of the Gate. He has spent the last two years preparing himself for the teat and developing his own unique fighting style that had been inspired by his time as a preacher.

Languages: Abyssal, Celestial, Draconic, Infernal, Sylvan

All spells are less than an hour so I'm good to go.

Anyone else having problems with the messageboards again?

Last night and this morning. It seemed like It kept timing out on me.

Not on my phone, but from the computer, yes.

Does my imp companion get the standard imp's DR, immunities, fast healing, see in darkness, etc.? Based on RAW I don't think it does, but it seemed a bit odd that an imp improved familiar would get those abilities but a diabolist's imp companion wouldn't.

It is odd, but no, it advances as detailed at the bottom of this page. If you so desire, I'd allow you to take a feat like improved familiar or something to boost his abilities back up.

That was a drastically better showing.

Any further comment on my Diviner?

I realized that I meant to take armor proficiency (heavy), not fast learner. Would it be alright if I make the appropriate changes? I'll adjusts skills that were not used. I kept coming back to this character and forgot that was part of the build to prevent massive penalties from his armor.

I could pull a rank from each of his highest ranked knowledge skills to accomplish it.

Lucky Halfling, I'm quite curious as to how did you get the Ironskin spell as an Inquisitor. It's a nice spell and I would like to have it too, if possible :D

I can't believe how badly I messed up this character. I mixed it up with other stuff I was looking at. He should have used something like shield of faith instead.

My apologies for all of this SOLDIER-1st. I had forgotten to give him a spell component pouch, which is why I did not have him choose to cast Shield of Faith to further strengthen his defenses, but now I'm realizing I have the following mistakes:

  • No spell component pouch.
  • Ironskin is not a spell he could use. I was mixing up other classes I was looking at.
  • I meant to give him armor proficiency (heavy) to remove the penalties to attack.

I was trying to make something cool and sped through it a bit too quickly at the end after bouncing from idea to idea.

Would you allow me to make the change to my feat/skills and swap the spell? Or would you like to proceed in a different manner?

Aww, not possible then? :( I was already drooling...

Could get some potions, though (and you could get one for the trial, ahem...). I've never noticed the spell before and think it's super awesome.

Honestly I'm not super worried about it. None of those things impacted the fight in any significant fashion. Just edit them appropriately. Once I select my finaly pick I will go through your characters much more carefully.

But I think the main thing we can learn from this is that peer review is vastly superior to my review, so keep it up guys =P

SOLDIER-1st wrote:

In this particular case, just because he made an Inquisitor (and even made the same/similar opening movement) so I was curious to see what tricks could he teach me.

Hey guys. Path of the Hellknight is finally up on the Archives of Nethys! Woo! He also said that he was working on getting the Obedience's up too.

Hey sorry. No, he looks good. Love the amount of prep work he's done. Also: first time I've ever actually seen anyone use alchemical reagents. Approve of that as well. Confirm you're ready and we'll start your Test.

Thurio is ready to rumble

Here's Kallant to take the test.

Couple questions:
1. Do we get maximum hit points?
2. Are you alright with pro-rating the cost of wand by charges?

1)Yes

2)No

Looks good. The only thing I'd point out is that aasimars (as of Blood of Angels) don't live particularly much longer than their parent race, so he would not be that old. Other than that looks good, I like the backstory.

I want to see a wizard just drop stuff on the devil to kill it.

I'm using the OGC Description of Aasimars that puts middle age at 150 years. Is that a campaign thing?

I'll retool his equipment.

He would start the test with Longstrider cast.

Well, Thurio just dropped 16,000 lbs of rock on the barbazu. He still has 40,000 lbs stored away.

Blood of Angels is a player companion book. We're playing in Golarion, so we're using Golarion specific rules, not necessarily the ogl content.

No. If it's a problem, I can create one. I generally don't give last names on PCs unless they are noble or are part of a clan or family.
