Sorry. I was busy with job searching, then busy with family stuff, and then a new Smash Bros came out and an entire week disappeared from my life.
TheGuyKnownAsAce |
Just very busy with work, got transferred to another location, and the guys there are lazy as f$+@, so being the low man on the totem pole, I have to take up some slack.
Krom Manirah |
I really don't see why we're even thinking about dealing with the serpent when we have a convenient backdoor entrance available.
Ixrul Morcrom |
Sorry, just got back to having free time. I'm down for whatever y'all want to do.
Krom Manirah |
Been kinda busy preparing for a new job, but I'm still here. I guess we're going ahead with Operation Fish Bait?
Green Smashomancer |
Alrighty, I feel like I should mention something. Before we keep going I wanted to ask if Dualjay could stop building Ixrul in a way that obsoletes some of us other PC's? First there was the thing way back when I started, where I asked for a little fly from Ixrul to get Gremory up a cliff, and you just flat said "no" and left the new guy behind. Later I asked about him crafting some stuff my PC could use, but you didn't answer and made items for other people instead. The biggest one to me was the Cyclops fortress thing. True you stopped at about half of it, but you still just went ahead and told us "Hey, you sit back. I'll do all the game playing." I didn't say anything at the time because I didn't want to raise a stink as the new guy, and it seemed like everyone else was fine with it as far as I could tell. But later at our pirate shindig you literally pushed me away from an NPC before I could make a roll.
And it isn't just me either. The skeleton crew that would kinda replace Krom's helmsman position? Taking the last casts of reincarnate from Daliya for no reason? It just doesn't really seem like you keep anyone else here in mind, and I would like some kind of niche availability.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Sure thing! I'm planning on rebuilding a bit - gonna drop the succubus name for something else (not sure what) and haven't really used it since I realized you did socials. There are also some spells I basically don't really use anymore bc they can cover other people's niches too easily.
Also, a lot of times, when it's coming to spell useage, it just means you have to be sure to get in the request before I prepare spells for the day. If it's crafting, the most likely thing is I just missed the post - a lot of things are going on when we're in port.
If I missed a request, just post something again.
A bit of it is because, in-character, Ixrul is very confident in his own decisions and abilities and ultimately doesn't really trust or value other people (his evil nature often causes him to take the feelings of superiority wizards and elves often have to an extreme). Feel free to push back against anything like that in-character as well!

If you wanted to retrain to get a full caster level, there's some shuffling you could do to keep pretty much everything you have, BTW.
For example, a Sworn of the Eldest keys off Charisma instead of Wisdom, so you can keep being the face, freeing you up to take the Black Powder Inquisition for Firearm proficiency.
Urban Infiltrator is an alternate archetype option if you want to stay Wis keyed but want a Conversion like effect.
Both came out after Gremory was initially made IIRC, so not like you could have taken them at charop.
The only thing you really lose is Dex to damage, but Greater Bane more than makes up for that.
Green Smashomancer |
Wow, I didn't know about any of those options, they're pretty neat. But none of them keep quick clear, and that's a lot of time to lose on mending or make whole. But the buffs are better. Hm. Dont know yet
Storm Dragon |
While I was looking for spells that reduce your Misfire, I came across this gem that's on the Inquisitor list that's like what you were trying to use Forced Quiet for earlier: Quieting Weapons.
Alas, it looks like the only spell that affects misfires positively is Stabilize Powder and it's not on your list, and kinda sucks anyway.
You could always invest in re-roll effects, like the Preacher archetype? As long as you aren't attached to your teamwork feats you lose nothing for it.

Posting to all my games: I'll be showing a friend of mine around the area soon, so I'll be mostly offline until the 24th. Please bot me if needed.
I'll see if I can mix-and-match something I like out of these options. They all fix something I don't like, but remove another thing I do.
Gremory Ainsworth |
Gremory could just float 40 ft away from it and unload with the dryload shots. Unless this anemone is gonna suprise me like treants did and have a good move speed.
Ixrul Morcrom |
This thing probably has terrible touch AC as well.
I might be able to cripple it remotely with Spectral Hand + an Extend Rodded Excrutiating Deformation. It's probably got crazy fort saves, but 20+ rounds might be able to drop its dex enough to paralyze it, since it is pretty big and probably doesn't have great dex.

Also, I just want to put this out there now: Eternal Apotheosis.
For future reference.

*sigh*
So, I've been mulling this over for the last week and I'll be honest: looks like I'm damned.
It seems like interest in this game is at an all time low, from everyone here, including myself. At first I was telling myself it's because my workload increased, but that's not really it if I'm being honest. I've still made regular posts in other games mostly unhindered by that, and GMing an AP isn't really more difficult than making a player post.
But the Adventure Path itself never really interested me as much as some others or a homebrew game, and I've gotten the feeling over the last couple of years that you guys aren't feeling it either. Going an entire month between posts was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back for me, and I've been waiting to see if I'd recover...but it's been about a month on my end too, and it's looking like the answer is no.
That's not to put the blame all on you guys or anyone in particular; there's plenty of fingers to point at me too I know. I could have botted players, been a bit more proactive in pushing things along, but ultimately I wasn't able to get back into the mindset I needed to be in with this game. Basically, I'm burnt out, and the mental real estate is dragging on other aspects of my life.
So, I'm calling this one here: Skulls and Shackles was kind of a bust, and now it's over.
That isn't to say I don't want to keep playing with you guys. I've had people pestering me on Discord to start a new PbP, and it might be a good way to rejuvenate not just myself, but you guys' interest in the game as well.
I have no clue what this new game is going to be, but I wanted to give you guys first dibs on whether you want to be a part of it or not, and have first right to shape what it might be before I toss it over to an open recruitment (if one is even necessary).
If not, I understand. Either way this game has been a ride and a half, and I want to thank you guys for following me through it (if at a vastly reduced pace the last couple of years) for the last...woof, 6 and a half years and two forum moves.

Well, I can't say I didn't see this coming. The AP has lost its appeal for me as well. I enjoyed it a lot when it was an adventure on the open sea. But at some point it became more about political intrigue and conspiracy, which I didn't enjoy as much.
Still, I'd love to sign up for a new PbP! Being a productive member of society now, I can't promise the instant response-time I (sometimes) used to have. But I'll try to post consistently and take more initiative.
Green Smashomancer |
I do feel like there were some things I could have done better. I've been trying to think of some ways to improve my player skills and I'd be happy to try a new game with you.
Storm Dragon |
Awesome.
Current thoughts on the Discord (if you PM me your Discord usernames I can invite you) are a variant of a game I've already run but didn't get to actually do much with: steampunk high tech, no magic (Psionics and Path of War allowed; Spheres of Might probably would be too).
Objections? Counter-suggestions? We're still in the planning phase.

So it has come to this.
It was fun playing with your guys, a couple guys may know my discord from the spuf server already, so maybe ping me if you want me in anything.
I probably wont have much time, though, got a big promotion recently and is basically the 2nd in command tech in the auto shop I work at, but I will try my best to do stuff.
(discord is way better anyway since I can sneak in a few moves in the bathroom/lunch break)
