I seriously think the lone hamster powering their servers died or something, I keep on getting logged out for no reason.
and no, there is nothing changed in my internet settings.
I want to apologize to everyone for my recent dearth of posting. I've been busy, yes, but not so busy I can't drop in for a quick post once a day, and that's on me. I think part of the problem is that my willingness to post (in all my games) was sapped by another game I was running that I simply didn't WANT to post in any more, but me feeling a bit guilty about that.
Starting today, I'm going to attempt to turn things around in this game, with your help. I want to try to get back into the once a day rhythm and get this game back on track. That means when you post, I post. When I post, I need you guys to post (of course). Particularly for combats a round or even two per day isn't out of the realm of reason, we've managed it before.
With that it should help us sail along at a smoother clip and have a bit more fun together. Deal?

The Eel may be my favorite NPC (statblock-wise) I've used running Adventure Paths. He's actually built quite well (I changed nothing about the block, save swapping a couple of Discoveries for thematic ones that didn't exist when it was originally made), and his Tactics block is uncharacteristically sensible for a Paizo made statblock. His Feats, equipment, and Extracts were all very well chosen for his profession.
I usually ignore the Tactics section because they make many encounters feel same-y (and basically boil down to "They have these buffs and flee when HP is below X amount"), but I wish I'd had the chance to use his normal combat strategy (alas, that strategy relied on him being indoors from the start; you guys actually did an excellent job tracking him down before he was "supposed" to be found initially).
You didn't suck at all, to be honest. He just had a kit geared for "Get in, get out, complete the mission" and an in-universe/backstory reason for being almost Batman-level informed and prepared for various scenarios.
He hasn't even escaped yet, you guys potentially have another chance to nab him.
Even if you don't, you managed to foil all his attempts to sabotage you without causing undue distress to your guests. This scenario could have gone WAY worse, and him getting away is really a scenario where he may have won the battle but you have definitely won the war here.
I hope you don't feel as though you've failed in this situation, this was almost an unmitigated success for you.

I swear the only time I didnt have arcana theft prepared....
Could have "stole" the blur from him, making the fight a lot more fair.....
I think it's just because they don't wanna drink naval rum. Having drunk naval rum - the real, genuine recipe - it's horrifying. Opening the bottle peels paint from the fumes.

The rum rations in book 1 of this AP are easily capable of killing PCs if they don't manage to surreptitiously rid themselves of it every night.
Just a heads up, I haven't forgotten about the game or anything. I've been steadily increasing my workload the past few weeks and it has left me a bit too sick of typing to write more after I'm done (been writing articles/reviews for about 6 hours at a stretch every day, plus other stuff).
Looks like I'm getting tomorrow and the weekend free enough (my employer hasn't set a new deadline yet) so I'll make a post and try to get things cracking over the weekend. When I get a handle on my new workload I'll also start picking up posts during the week again better.
