Karak Whitefangs |
Karak can't repress a flicker of delight at the news they were send out of town."YES, Yes Yes...After all those years, I'll be able to go out and see the world."
With a half smile, he turns to his leaders:
"I don't know how far this wyvern will take the criminal, but it can't go that fast, since the wyvern needs to hunt and eat a lot. If we know where it goes, and if it's by the sea, we may catch it by taking a fast boat and having someone sail us to the location."
Mylivanni |
Eager to be away from the carnage, Myliv offers to go look for a boat leaving for Riddleport.
"I volunteer to go attempt to find passage for us". "Maybe someone more familiar with the city or the docks might go with me"?
nightflier |
"We will all go to docks, I don't think that we will be able to find anything new here. Inquisitor, can we take the map with us or at least a copy of it? And do we know the boys name?"
"I can do better than that. The child's uncle is Pathfinder of some note - and very clever artificer as well. It is said that he has a device that can reproduce images of the places he visited. The boy was his favorite nephew, so I am quite sure that he has an image of the child stored in his device. I am told that he rents quarters in the Golden Pig Inn. The boy's name is Roland, as far as I know."
Graelem Nordstraum |
Graelem looks at his First, a thoughtful look on his face. "While this might prove to be a waste of time, I cannot help but feel this would be a wise move to pay a visit to the Golden Pig."
Amira Oenestria |
"Agreed, while we are working against time, the more information we have to work with the better." Amira responds.
"Besides, the child's uncle may have an idea as to why the family was targeted."
Graelem Nordstraum |
Graelem watches the female fetchling out of the corner of his eye, unsure what to make of this unusual addition to the team.
Not that we are your ordinary group of soldiers I would say...I wonder how HER talents will help...
"A good plan, First. Please make sure you arrange passage on a fast vessel. We will join you at the docks once we have completed our business so we can get underway."
nightflier |
"We visit the Golden Pig, while Rauvdra, Mylivanni and Ǽmon find us a boat."
Nightflier, how are we bound to duties at the moment? If we have approval from the inqusitor, do we need to give a report to someone else and request leave to chase down the kidnapper
You are free to pursue this matter as you see fit.
nightflier |
As Rauvdra, Mylivanni and Ǽmon go for the docks, one the native Korvosans leads the rest of the squad towards the Golden Pig. Some time has passed in navigating the city's busy streets before the small squad reaches a large brick building, three stories high, with a shining bronze figure of a pig roasted on a stake mounted above the door. The soldier makes a motion towards the door, saying "This is where I stop. I have to get back as soon as I can, since my shift is about to end."
I need your positions. Who enters first and last?
Amelisce |
Never having been in the Pig, Amelisce struggles to even recall just where the inn is located, but the sight of the pig on a spit is vaguely familiar as she approaches with the rest of the team. "First, how would you like us to form up and help inside?" while waiting for an answer, she watches to see if anyone is moving in or out of the establishment.

Rauvdra Waerrar |
Rauvdra steps in with Mylivanni behind Ǽmon as the Korvosan magus leads them to the docks to secure passage. As usual when walking around the city with her squad, she walked proudly with a good dose of superiority, all the while keeping an eye out and hearing for any unusual.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Not ever taken a voyage on a boat before, she remained silent while watching Ǽmon handled the negotiations.
Graelem Nordstraum |
As Second, Graelem would take a position to the right and behind the First, unless she instructs him otherwise. Nothing he has seen so far would cause him to change his position here.
Karak Whitefangs |
"Yes, Ma'am"
Karak opens the door, his massive frame taking most of the doorway.
"Good evening Sirs and Madams, please resume your activities as usual."
Scanning the assembly, he tries to determine who is a potential threat or who is afraid of the uniform he bears.

If no ones seems dangerous, he steps to the side to clear the way for the rest of the squad.
Amira Oenestria |
With a brief nod Amira takes her usual place flanking Aurelia's right, eyes taking in the room as they enter.
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Mylivanni |
Myliv leads the others to the docks. She approaches the first halfling she runs across (Everybody knows they're friendly and helpful).
"Citizen". "Some of my comrades and I are seeking a fast, and reliable captain to take us on a sea voyage". "Point the way to whom we should be talking to, and I'll buy you a meat pie".
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 diplomacy.
nightflier |
At the first glance, Karak does not see any kind of threat in the tavern, although he hears the commotion outside. He turns and sees his First shouting at some people, who are raising crossbows ready to open fire at his squad.
Four bolts fly at Aurelia.

The halfling looks at Myliv. He seems slightly surprised, but then he just shrugs. "Okay. Buy me that pie and a flagon of ale, and I'll take you to my captain. I work on a ship, you see."

"That is satisfactory citizen". I am Mylivanni, of the Black Company, and your cooperation will be noted". "What shall I call you, and what is the name of your ship, and captain"? Mylivanni turns to the others to introduce themselves. "Now lead us to your favorite ale house", and let's conclude this business quickly.

Your part of the squad, please roll Perception.
Mylivanni |
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 Perception
Myiv's eyes dart about, and her slender forked tongue flicks out testing the air...but the salt, and stench of the dock district makes if difficult to focus.
Graelem Nordstraum |
Graelem turns around a look of surprise on his face. It is swiftly replaced by instinct as he grasps his holy symbol and calls out a quick prayer to his goddess.
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Cast Bless on the group (+1 to hit and +1 save vs. fear.
Karak Whitefangs |
First group
Roaring, Karak rushes out of the Inn, drawing a barbed whip in one hand and readying his light shield in the other.
At the end of his move, 15 ft from his closest enemy, he lashes out.
Move 30 foot while drawing both weapons (shield and whip),
