"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
<<I see the places the others went. The temple. The tree. The others have not found nodes of power yet, as far as I can see.>>
GM Wolf |
Just the Will save Alton.
The throne has wizards eyes/floating eyes, Still can't remember spell, and a few other very faint auras.
All the books are magical, though it just seems to be a warding of preservation.
The shadows attack and drain... the strength from the vines. They will not move for quite a while. The shadows will not see the invisible man.
Tate and Wilbur decimate the forces before them, no true threats. Another 15 damage to Wilbur.
Tate and Wilbur, what do you do now. About a dozen of them retreat away from you to the back of the temple. The main alter has a large clear orb, it seems that the blood in the area has been slowly seeping towards it, turning it more red by each round. Now the orb is blood red. Then all of a sudden they all drop to the ground in pain. Will Save DC 40/30 and then Fort Save DC 30/20. For the three of you...
Ivanna Láska |
Feeling it a bit safer, Ivanna and Aiden walk steadily closer to the vines. Ivanna casts detect magic and begins searching alongside Aiden.
Ivanna's Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Aiden's Perception: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (11) + 24 = 35
Both are using detect magic (Aiden has detect good and magic at will). I did realize that I left Aiden's stats as a normal imp and didn't account for his improved hit dice and such from being a familar.
Terrible Terry Tate |
perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (6) + 23 = 29 Blindsense 60ft
Comes up to the orb and looks to the others
You all clear out of here now ya hear! Or I'll clear you out myself!
Examines the orb spellcraft: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (5) + 23 = 28
Seriously now if you don't get out of here this instant and leave I'll lay a hurt that makes what I did to these chumps look like just a little roughhouse with my buffalo! You all aren't even a challenge so get out before more of you get hurt!
will: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
fort: 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (4) + 34 = 38
GM Wolf |
Wilbur and Tate each of you have one negative level. Though looking at the sahaiguin, it could have been far worse as they all drop dead.
Ivanna you and Aiden see the motionless vines. Did you dismiss the shadows, otherwise they start looking for something else to attack. There is a magical black orb which seems to be absorbing light, in the dead center of the vines and where the roper once was.
[Spoiler=Spellcraft DC 22]The black orb is emenating a strong conjuration, and several faint necromancy auras.
The activation of the throne is either the connected one to the heart sits in the throne, saying 'I give up of myself to connect to the castle' then of what you are willing to give up, or just sit in the throne to have 'scrying eyes and message' active, or say which spell you want active.
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
Terrible Terry Tate |
composes one of his 10 restorations to restore his negative level
Aww baby, yall need to get a life, and escape with your life yo! Get out Baby, and I'll make sure you live to spawn a new breeed!
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
For 8 more rooms, I will create as follows:
Ivanna Láska |
Was wandering what happened on our end. Decided to open up Bertram's spoiler and saw that Azulth and I were posted there. I guess I should order the shadows to do something else.
"Good work my pet shadows. Now stand down until I have need of you," Ivanna tells the two greater shadows.
Noticing the black orb, Ivanna and Aiden move in for a closer look.
"I wonder what this could be. It is absorbing everything around it."
Readying to cast time stop in case something happens, Ivanna reaches out carefully to pick up the black orb.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (12) + 34 = 46
Azulth the Slayer |
"Don't!" Azulth hisses, reaching out and grabbing Ivanna's arm. "I don't know what that is, but it absorbs everything that touches it, not just light. Heard of such things? I have, though I don't know how they work."
GM Wolf |
Sorry, it got misplaced, now just waiting on your actions.
Azulth holds Ivanna back from touching the black orb.
Wilber and Tate, all enemies are dead from your slaughter and likely from the level drain that affected you, though more profound on them.
Bertram is focusing on his spells, Alton is reading?
Oom you now know how to activate the throne...
Now what do you do?
Terrible Terry Tate |
swims up to the orb and looks at it closely, tracing his fingers along the swirls of red mist
Ivanna Láska |
Not now, can't you see I'm trying to figure out what this thing is?" says Ivanna as she continues to concentrate.
Concentration Check if Required: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (5) + 29 = 34
Terrible Terry Tate |
muses out loud
I'm assuming we're to do something here with this, activate it or prevent it's activation, I'm completely unsure...
bites deeply into his thumb to cause some bleeding and smears a tracing of the letter T into it
I wonder how it'll respond to a true warriors blood
GM Wolf |
The blood orb seems to swirl faster with the introduction of the new blood.
Ivanna look up several posts to find the auras off the black orb. You think that the black orb is not a magical item, instead a spot where several spells are set. You think the conjuration spell is teleport or plane shift. The necromancy spells seem to be too faint to recognize anymore.
We are waiting on Tate and Wilbur to act or say that they just wait for something to happen.
Ivanna Láska |
[b]"Trust me on this one. I specialize in the arts of calling and teleportation. I think this strange orb is a specific point where several spells are centered. If you are so afraid of it, back up while I try something,"[b/] Ivanna say to allievate the worries of her companion.
After giving Azulth a chance to back away if he chooses, Ivanna bites the side of her ruby lips and attempts to grasp the orb.
GM Wolf |
Ivanna disappears.
GM Wolf |
Azulth, you hear a strange *pop* sound come from the village.
Baris the halfling comes from the well made house. He smiles at the new arrivals.
A elderly human male wizard, with a long greying beard, no hair on his head, wearing a long flowing red robe with lots of magical glowing runes, he holds a wooden staff with a big gnarl on the top of it.
Next to him is a kobold, but one of medium stature. More to come
The wizard says, "Leave the halfling he is of no consequence, so which way should we go? West to the water, North or South?"
If you can see the area, feel free to look at the spoiler.
Terrible Terry Tate |
Ho! a reaction!
He focuses on his regenerative powers as he paints the orb entirely with his own blood
I never did like to color in the lines! Hey Wilbur what do you make of this?
Achroma |
Alton VenRysn |
Alton takes this time where no one is attacking him to bind his spirit for the day, choosing one that grants him some more versatility and binds Jayna Warlock, Traveler of Worlds and one minute later passes through the portal with his robot.
Ivanna Láska |
"Ahh, now this is more like it!" exclaims Ivanna as she takes some time to look over the books for anything interesting.
Perception Check to Search: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Not sure if anything is planned here or not. If not, that is okay as flipping through the books is something Ivanna would most likely do anyways. I do plan to check out the door and hallway later.
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
a left foot... that has got to be worth a room or two at least. hahaha
Azulth the Slayer |
"No, wait--gods damn it." Azulth drops his hands to his sides as Ivanna disappears through the orb. Well, there goes another one. Unless what she said about spells was true...? She didn't seem to have much common, but she's obviously a magician and knows about spells... Claimed to specialize... Damn. He curses inwardly, then grabs his sword and reaches out to grab the orb, turning invisible as he does so, and prepared to remain still once he's gone through any portal.
Stealth: 1d20 + 38 + 40 ⇒ (1) + 38 + 40 = 79 (Unless you can see invisibility, then it's just a 39.)
GM Wolf |
If the difference is greater 5, that person has the advantage, if that person holds the advantage for one round, then the other takes a negative 5 on their next check, and so on.
To expediate it I will be doing the saves here...
Bertram
1d20 + 22 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 22 + 2 = 26 Will save plus already connected to Castle

Very interesting... Now that you have started vying to be the controller of the Castle, you may forfeit, agree to share (understand that the one who has given up more will be more connected), cast a spell to boost you, or cast a spell at the other in one manner or another as per the spell.
Alton you leave the white door and come back to the center of town, there you see... See the spoilers above... *At the center of the abandoned village* and *the kobold*, time to see what happens.
Ivanna Láska |
[b]"I'm not entirely certain. We were transported here. I am not sure what this place is, but it might hold some of the secrets for which I.. err... we are looking. I'm going to finish thumbing through these books. Let me know if you find anything," says Ivanna without looking up. She doesn't even realize that Azulth is invisible again. She is getting used to it.
Alton VenRysn |
Alton sees the new comers and pauses, he silently signals to his robot to conceal himself but to not attack unless a further signal is given
robot stealth 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (9) + 22 = 31
he then walks into view of the kobald and the wizard
the elf is grey of skin with hair and eyes as black as the void, he is garbed in robes made of silk the color of midnight and a red belt he does not appear to make any threatening gestures but does not go out of his way to be friendly either.
Achroma |
perception: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (5) + 31 = 36
the kobold looks around, taking everything in. When he notices you, he pauses a moment, then looks around a bit more. He then ran up near you, moving at an astonishing speed, and stopped ~30 feet in front of you.
"Hmm."
he says, looking over you thoroughly.
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
having no offensive spells that i would want to cast on Oom, plus not entirely sure i even have a reason to assault him, Dr. Bertram will just prepare his defenses according to the PM i sent you (in case Oom attacks me, he seems unpredictable)
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
Dr. Bertram, seeing the throne room, attempts to communicate to it via the Heart.
<<can you hear me? there seems to be a mental struggle>>
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
<<It appears there is some sort of conflict between the one sitting on the throne and the one at the heart. I am at the heart, and you are on the throne. Do you know the purpose of the throne? I have learned the purpose of the heart so far is to construct this castle. I would appreciate remaining in control of the construction from this end. I am not averse to sharing power with you, but as for the construction of the castle, it is a project i have taken on. Speaking of which, I need more life energy to fuel the construction.>>
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
<<Interesting. If you want to keep control of the throne, I will keep control of the Heart. As much of a fan as I am of divinations, this project interests me more>>
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
i was thinking just keep the stations separate. my character doesnt really know what the throne does, and thinks he knows what the heart does, and is enthralled by it. so he would want to keep control of the heart, and let Oom figure out the throne.
