Makoa tears into #8, his teeth ripping out flesh and bone. The unfortunate charau-ka is a bloody mess afterwards. Makoa didn't need to make a claw attack since the bite took the charau-ka down, leaving him with a move action if he wishes to take it. He'll want to make sure he stays within range of Urza's spell though (which is close range).

Mahjik moves over to where Pezock and Sasha are being assaulted by many charau-ka. He attacks #3, but the charau-ka manages to duck low.

Shokambe continues to stay put. Delay.

Next Up: Untari, Jask, Urza, Douena, Charau-ka #5, Sasha, Pezock, Raogru, Tar'kanas, Charau-ka (except #5), Alton, Lorenz, Ishirou, Chu-tok, Makao, Mahjik, Shokambe (subject to delayed action).

"Let me help right here first. Then I can focus on that snake." Urza casts fireball centered in H30. If I placed that right, it should get 6, 9, 10, 11, and 12 while just coming short of Pezock and Mahjik.

Untari moves up and with a roar, savagely tears into #3. Blood spatters about, leaving the charau-ka little more than a bloody body.

Jask stays put for the time being. Delay.

Urza completes his spell and Makoa suddenly grows to twice his normal size. The charau-ka nearby recoil slightly at the sudden giant.

Urza follows that up by sending a ball of fire out towards the back of the rush of charau-ka. Although the point at which it explodes is empty, it quickly spreads out to engulf five of the nearby Charau-ka. When the smoke clears, three of the five are smouldering bodies. Two still stand, but they don't look well.

With a screech, #5 rushes forward at Mahjik, pulling out his club (charge to -L 28).

"Shokambe!" Douena calls. "Come make sure this one doesn't get up and stab us in the back!" When the guide has come to stand guard over the prone charau-ka, Douena takes off toward the southern treeline. She stops and points the fingers of both hands back at Tar'kanas, Urza, Makoa, Sasha, Pezock, and Mahjik.

Tar'kanas, Urza, Makoa, Sasha, Pezock, and Mahjik:
"I'm going to find Raogru."

Move to A32; cast message SLA

Without looking back Mahjik nods at Douena's message and half-whispers back: "Do you need help?" Without a flanking partner he decides to not attack too recklessly. He kicks with his right leg, deep into the gut - hopefully enough to knock the breathe out of the creature. With the foot still in the air he flicks it again, in an upward motion at the jaw of the creature. He deftly steps aside 5ft to -L26 preparing to take step into flanking at the next opportunity.

Shokambe nods at Douena's words and over (to -I 22) to stand guard over charau-ka #2. Douena then takes off towards the jungle.

Makoa rushes forward at the giant snake, but nearly trips over the body of one of the charau-ka in his path, throwing off his attack.

Urza's fiery ray shoots out a bit too far to the right, making it easy for the snake to duck to the side. The fire streaks past without causing any harm.

Sasha prepares to help out against the snake by moving forwards and around it (double move to -I 37). Pezock does similarly (double move to -H 38).

To the south, another charau-ka comes out of the jungle and snarls when he sees that almost all the other charau-ka have fallen. He is wearing hide armour and carries a mace. With a hiss, he chants a spell and touches the top of his mace with his other hand. Suddenly, darkness spreads out around him, engulfing much of the battlefield. People in the darkened area on the map cannot see unless they have darkvision (or use some other magical method of sight).

Instantly blinded, Tar'kanas turns and walks the opposite direction until he manages to find daylight. Managing it quickly, "I cannot see. I cannot fire into the darkness for fear of hitting the others. They will have to combat it alone," he states as a matter of fact.

I'm guessing delay indefinitely. As far as Untari goes - when it's her turn - if she can use the Scent ability to find the creature, that'd be cool. But I'm not really sure how all that works. Otherwise, she'll just delay as well. Of course, I'm not so sure that even she'd be comfortable going in blind as far as that goes.

Chu-tok bite at Makoa: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Is #5 still up? I just realized I've been forgetting Mahjik's low-iterative attack. Silly me.

Makoa savagely attacks the snake. He swings with his axe but fails to cut into its deep hide. However, the axe does momentarily distract the snake, allowing him to get in a powerful bite (but not the critical, alas) that tears out a sizeable chunk of snake meat.

Just as #5 comes unstunned, Mahjik steps up and attacks again (I 5-ft stepped him to -M 27 so he can attack), taking the charau-ka down with the first two attacks.

I just noticed (too late for me to edit the post) that I accidentally included Untari twice in the initiative order. Alas, I'm afraid she only gets to take one turn. :)

Untari moves up to the edge of darkness and sniffs, yet, ultimately hesitates and refuses to enter.

Move to -K 29 and stop there. And for her next turn, she will 'Delay indefinitely' as well. :)

Urza puts a fireball at C36 to catch both the giant snake and the spell casting charau-ka in its area. He then moves A33.

Fireball 6d6 + 8 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 2, 5, 1) + 8 = 28 DC 16 for half

Untari holds back from entering the darkness. Jask continues to wait.

Chu-tok Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 -- fail
Raogru Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 -- fail

Urza sends a ball of fire blazing through the darkness. The light emitted as it explodes very briefly counters the darkness. The snake tries to duck beneath the flames but is too slow. The spellcasting charau-ka also tries to duck, but is too slow--yet in his case, the flames nevertheless still don't touch him. An energy field around him glows slightly and he is left unharmed. As the smoke clears (and the darkness reasserts itself), those with darkvision see that the snake is lying unmoving on the ground.

"You think this darkness will stop us!" Pezock calls out. "You only delay your demise!" Sasha and Pezock delay.

Raogru shrieks in rage at the sight of the snake lying on the ground. He looks angrily in Urza's direction and moves towards the half-orc (to -B 33). As he does so, the darkness moves with him, engulfing Untari, Tar'kanas, and Jask who were on the outskirts. He then casts a spell and a tremendous cacophony of noise booms around Urza and Lorenz.

Urza Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 -- fail
Lorenz Fortitude: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 -- pass

Both Urza and Lorenz take full damage. Urza is stunned for 1 round.

The onslaught of noise leaves Urza reeling, the world seeming to spin around him.

I'm assuming Raogru can't catch both Urza and Lorenz in his spell with Urza's move, so it'll probably be Urza and Douena instead.

Actually that should have been -A33

Since Urza moved, there was no need for Raogru to move (as he only moved to get Urza in range of his spell), so I've moved him back to where he was. The sound burst spell was centred on Urza, so no longer catches Lorenz in the effect, but it does catch Douena instead. We'll keep the same damage roll as before and transfer Lorenz's Fortitude roll to Douena. Adjusting to her Fortitude bonus, the roll becomes a 21 which will pass. She is not stunned. Tar'kanas is no longer in darkness, but otherwise everything else happens the same way.

Charua-ka #2 remains huddled on the ground, covering his ears at the sounds of explosions.

Ought to put Pezock, Sasha, and Lorenz in dim light, and they and Mahjik can see each other and the dead snake and Big Makoa but not Raogru, if I'm counting squares right.

In this case, however, it cancels out the darkness and is similarly cancelled out by the darkness. In the area where they overlap, there is just the natural light levels, which happen to be normal light. There'll be no difference between normal or dim in this case.

Mahjik pulls out his everburning torch and hurries to the edge of the darkness effect. As the light from the torch touches the darkness, the darkness recedes to be replaced by the normal light from the cloudy sky above. Once Mahjik reaches his destination, most of the northwestern portion of the darkness is cancelled out. Only Douena and Raogru still remain in the dark.

Map Updated

Able to see again, Untari moves up to the edge of the light near Makoa, waiting until she can clearly see the enemy.

Double move to -D 36. That's it.

While Untari moves closer, Jask continues to wait, and Urza is still reeling from the deafening noise. Sasha and Pezock both move up closer (Sasha to -D 37 and Pezock to -C37). "You see?" Pezock calls out as he moves. "Your foul magic is already failing you!"

With the giant-sized Makoa bearing down on him, Raogru begins shrieking loudly and attacks.

Free action: active "shrieking frenzy" (haste effect).
Raogru heavy mace at Makoa, haste: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 13 + 1 = 18 -- hit
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Raogru heavy mace at Makoa, haste: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 13 + 1 = 31 -- hit
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Raogru heavy mace at Makoa, haste, iterative attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 1 = 20 -- hit
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Raogru bite at Makoa, haste: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 = 27 -- hit
Damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Total Damage to Makoa: 36 - 4 from damage reduction = 32

With blinding speed, Raogru swings his mace, then again, and again, each time slamming it heavily into Makoa's massive form. He then follows up with a bite into Makoa's thigh.

Next Up: Douena, Tar'kanas (subject to delayed action), Charau-ka #2, Alton, Lorenz (subject to delayed action), Ishirou (subject to delayed action), Shokambe (subject to delayed action), Makoa, Mahjik, Untari, Jask (subject to delayed action), Urza, Sasha, Pezock, Raogru.

Female Gnome Cleric 4/ Rogue (burglar) 3

If Mahjik moves the light a little closer so Douena can see what's going on, she'll come off delay to come heal you.

"Why won't who die? What's going on?" Douena demands loudly, as if the dark hindered sound as well as light.

Mahjik presses on deeper into the half-light. Initially toward Makoa, but when Douena comes into vision he deviates the path slightly toward the little gnome and forms a defensive barrier. Move to A33; standard action: total defense
