Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Chimon:

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

A pounding pressure shakes your dreamscape this time, much different from the previous two.

1d10 ⇒ 10

Rather than a gentle appearance, the shade appears in a flash of lightning and thunder, knocking your dream self to its feet. You feel remarkably out of breath all of a sudden, as if you'd run a mile to get here.

"This should end it." the creature intones.

"Rule of three, after all."

Chimon, you can make a Charisma check to take control of the dream at this point if you choose.

Talryn and Korak:

Chimon is wracked by a seizure, but no attempt to wake him is successful. After a few minutes, he stops and returns to a deep, if fitful sleep.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Charisma: 1d20 ⇒ 8 IIRC you round ability damage down when determining penalties, but if not -1 to this roll.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Chimon:
Yar, you only lose 1 for every 2 Damage. Drain actually changes the score though so it can hurt a bit worse.

I...actually thought you had a good Cha score (like a 16 or so). Though yours is still second best among the party I think. This may go poorly.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

The creature is taken aback by your determination this time around, and is unable to bring the full force of his will to bear.

Nevertheless, you fight to a standstill, the dreamscape quivering expectantly but not quite giving way before either of you.

The creature looks around for the first time.

"Interesting. Nobody else yet has thought to try and take control of their own dream. You're a fascinating fellow, aren't you?"

Another one? This time use Wis. I based it off Cha initially because the idea was both of you were using your strongest mental stat to influence the dream, and I thought your best was Cha.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Wisdom: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Dream:
"I will accept the compliment, but I am sorry to say it will not endear you to me," Chimon says, pointing to his healing cheek. "Incidentally, you are the first to ever try and take control of my own dream."

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Chimon:

He makes a moue of disappointment.

"Unfortunately I HAVE heard that one before."

Cha: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

He's so caught up in carrying n the conversation that he doesn't notice Chimon slowly shifting the landscape behind him. He puts up an impressive defense for such short notice, but doesn't quite manage to revert it.

All righty, you have control of the dream...for now. What do you do with it?

Dream:
Chimon wills his friends into being beside him, setting the scene to the dark room he'd been in just a dozen or so minutes ago.

"Korak, Talryn, Jo - with the power of teamwork, we can defeat this creature!" he shouts.

Rynjin:
Any chance this'll let the other PCs have something to do?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

It will, yes. Though they will likely disappear if the shade takes control of the dream again.

I am currently without internet, but I will try to get my tablet keyboard working to make a post.

Kn (arcane): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 - Any magic to share a dream?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

None that Jo is aware of.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Poor chimon.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Actually I can set up sort of an Initiative order. That way this moves a little bit.

Shade
Korak
Chimon
Talryn
Jo

Give me all your actions and I'll put them in order Monday.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

For the record my last two spoilers are ones that you guys should be able to read now.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

ah?

Male Oni-Spawn Tiefling Bruiser 7 - Wound 12; HP 60[74]; AC 22[23] (tch 20[18]; ff 20[21]) (+2 w/ Mage Armor); CMD 32[32] (+2 vs Grapple; +4 vs Disarm); DR 3/-; Fort +8 [+10], Ref +9; Will +9 [+11]; Darkvision, Scent, Perception +13; Sense Motive +18; Initiative +5

Uh... What's going on, exactly? I suppose I keep trying to wake Chimon up...

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Chimon has conjured clones of you into his dream. You may control them.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Chimon calls words he'll never remember on waking and conjures a cylinder of rapid wind around the shade. It gusts up through the floor, breaking a circular hole there and in the ceiling.

Wind wall lasts 6 rounds.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The shade looks a bit startled, but quickly recovers.

"This? This is your grand scheme, conjure simulacra of your friends to help you? How very...sentimental." the word drips with disgust.

He wreathes himself in shadow, as the first time you saw him, and his eyes begin to emit a sickly yellow light.

"You should have freed yourself from the dream while you had the chance. This is MY realm, and your drug can only help you for so long." he growls.

"But come now, kneel before me and be spared the worst I can do to you..." he says, voice undercut with a hypnotic power.

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

But Chimon easily shrugs off his power.

"Fine then, damn you. We'll do this the hard way."

Korak?

Ah, my bad! Just seen the post where we control the dream-personas... I was waiting for the dream to end, so I wasn't following the thread very closely. Move and punch, I guess.

IUS: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17 damage: 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

Awesome...

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Chimon's imagination lacks the keen tactical sense and fighting prowess of the real Korak. Here's hoping he picks it up quickly...

And now we're just waiting for Chimon, Talryn, Jo...

This was my intended action?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Right-o then. Talryn and Jo?

Dream-Talryn charges the specter and tries to bash it to death with both hands on his shield.

Shield Bash: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Damage: 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18

Chimon has a good mental image of Talryn I suppose.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Talryn's figment gives the shade a righteous blow to the head!

If Nicos doesn't post later today, I will GMPC him. He's been having trouble posting lately.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Sorry, I've been busy and grumpy these last days...And, of course, feel free to GMPC Jo when needed

PMagic missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) + 3 = 8

Jo cast the spell while thinking about Korak having a multicolored affro...just to see if she have the power to influentiate this collective dream.

Cha check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Jo's missiles hammer the shade!

But the shade begins to exert its will on the scenario again.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

But Chimon's will prevails yet again!

The shade growls, angry, and steps back from Talryn's figment, looking upon Chimon in anger.

He raises his hand and an invisible burst of energy strikes Chimon on the forehead...and begins siphoning away his will.

Chimon Will: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Chimon Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Chimon, you have narrowly avoided being Feebleminded. How do you respnd? Everyone else is a go as well.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Hmm . . . since it's my dream, any chance I could drop a giant, golden mace on it? Would that take up my standard action?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Go nuts, though it'd use the same rules for falling objects. I'd say you can make an attack roll to drop it from 200 feet up and it counts as a dense object.

Male Half Elf Bound 7 HP Not Dead/67; AC 26 (tch 15; ff 23); CMD 27; DR 3/-; Fort +11, Ref +8; Will +7(Aura of Courage, Roll Twice Take Best vs Mind Effect); Perception +5; Sense Motive +0; Initiative +3

Talryn continues to batter the thing after focusing arcane power into his shield and taking a quick step up.

Activating Bane against Undead

Shield Bash #1: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Damage #1: 1d8 + 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (3) + (4, 2) + 16 = 25
Shield Bash #2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (3) + (6, 2) + 16 = 27

So no multicolored affro :(

MM: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 3) + 3 = 13

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Ranged touch: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 - 2 = 22 Bludgeoning, magic?: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 6, 1, 3) = 18 And Reflex save DC 15 to halve.

Chimon concentrates on the dreamscape and drops a huge golden mace through the cylinder of air, hoping to squash the shade where it stands.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Sadly no, Jo. You're not actually here (the real Korak, Jo, and Talryn have no clue what's going on). You're merely manifestations of Chimon's will.

Chimon hits the shade with the anvil, if barely!

Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

It crushes the reature underneath its great weight, and the scene goes dark. Chimon is left standing alone in a comforting darkness, until the shade's voice rings out again.

"I see...my usual...tricks...will not work...on you..." it wheezes. THen it retreats from his mind to lick its wounds, and Chimon awakes.

Chimon (though anyone can read):
Chimon, the experience has left you...changed. Your mind is much more aware of the dream world, and such tricks will never take you unaware again.

You gain the Lucid Dreaming trait as a memento of your mental battles with the creature.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Chimon jerks awake, face bleeding afresh. "I bested it. Praise Abadar for that alchemist." He slides his legs over the edge of the tiny cot and sits up, looking up at his companions. "Thank you for staying with me. I do not know this creature's next avenue of attack, but I am sure, together, we can defeat it."

26 in GI to know if there is an expert in dream magic in town.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

There are experts in all sorts of magic in the Arcaneum, but ones that specialize in those sorts of magic are both rare and reclusive, more interested in understanding the inner workings of their own mind as well as others than talking to people.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

"It sounded, at least, like the creature was abandoning nightmares as its weapon. Perhaps now it will strike in the corporeal world," Chimon says. "I'll repair my face again tomorrow and see if sleeping is safe again. Before then, we should inform Vivian of our progress."

Going the rest of the night without sleep; ready for a time-skip if appropriate.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Vivian seems very surprised.

"Now wonder we haven't been able to even catch a glimpse of the damn thing. It kills people by invading their dreams?"

"What do you plan to do about it?"

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Jo go to ask Gavin Melbourne about the dream magic specialists, who are they and what gavin will ask for the info.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Once Jo is at the Arcaneum, she can easily check the directory.

"Somnambular Hallucination Exploration and Research" is a department on the 16th floor.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Jo knocks the door.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Nobody answers.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Chimon rubs his eyes blearily. "I do not know what to do about it. For the present, it seems I am safe from its powers, and it seems that it only picks one target at a time. We'll report to you if we turn up any more information."

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Jo really try to find more information about this particular dude asking aroudn in the place. GI 26.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

You know about as much as anyoone knows about him, and probbly more. You don't know any personal details, or even what he actually looks look or his name, so there's nothing for anyone to go on.

Male Half Elf Bound 7 HP Not Dead/67; AC 26 (tch 15; ff 23); CMD 27; DR 3/-; Fort +11, Ref +8; Will +7(Aura of Courage, Roll Twice Take Best vs Mind Effect); Perception +5; Sense Motive +0; Initiative +3

"So what are our leads?"

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The snoring continues.

Jo, there's really no information of value to be gleaned from this.
