That was well played and fun.
Leveling to 3rd Level:
Una Therlmagne is now a Weapon Specialist fighter.
She takes a level in Rogue (Sniper).1d8 for hitpoints
+3 Reflex save
Skills:
Acrobatics 1 Rank
Disable Device 3 Ranks
Intimidate 1 Rank
Perception 3 Ranks
Feat: Crossbow MasterySneak Attack: +1d6
Accuracy: Una halves all range increment penalties when making ranged attacks with a bow or crossbow.
Weapon Guard: Una gains a +1 bonus to CMD against disarm and sunder attempts while wielding her crossbow. This bonus also applies to saves against effects that target the crossbow.

I don't know. You are asking me about the vast, arcane guided structures of Bulletin Board technology from Beyond. Say "Ia. Ia. Cthulhu." and see if that helps any.

Shakhan |

@Ashe: would you consider the "fatigued" condition for a mercy?
Leveling Shakhan:
HP 1d12 ⇒ 2
Lousy number generator :(
BAB: +1
Saves: +1 Reflex, +1 Will
Class ability: Naked Courage
Feat: Shield Focus
Skills: +1 rank in Climb, Initimidate and Perception
Favored class: Superstition reaches 3/3, granting an additional +1 to all saves when raging

Asherick Whiteplume |

Ah... finally! I can post to the discussion thread and actually see it now! Got no idea why it was being stubborn... but now it seems to be working ok.
@Shakhan : AH...!!! I understand. It takes a lot for Ashe to become fatigued... he has Endurance. But taking fatigued as a mercy would allow Shakhan to rage more often without the side effect.
Sure... will do.
Meggan... changing Ashe's Mercy to Fatigued. All for teamwork!

I am running:
This Curse of the Crimson Throne game.
A Kingmaker game, also picked up when the original GM was unable to continue.
A Second Darkness game which proceeds in fits and starts for no apparent reason.
A Council of Thieves game which I thought had died, then a whole flock of new players turned up and it's getting quite lively again!
Two Legacy of Fire games.
And a Carrion Crown game with players so eager that one actually purchased a copy of the adventure for me!
So, that's seven actually :)

![]() |

Wow. You're Amazing! :)
By the way Meggan... I gotta know... did we just miss a whole bunch of magic items and experience by NOT just outright attacking and assaulting the "Spider's Lair" to find what we need? I mean most modules are designed to make magic items and experience points for fights available that the party needs for future challenges. Unfortunately the D&D system is mostly based on the 'kill' to get better equipment and abilities rather than 'Role-Play' to get better equipment and abilities.
Just curious is all! :)

Una Therlmagne |

Somehow, I never regarded the Spider King encounter as a violence-based one. There are too many people there, and I imagine if we had attacked the flotilla outright, we would have fought an army. Once we finish the book, (which should be around 4th level or so, if the other Adventure Paths are any indication), I'll take a look at it and see what we were "expected" to do.

![]() |

LOL! Ok guys... I don't want any spoilers! :)
Just wish there was ... more romance! :)
We need more scantily clad sorceress' like the iconic Seoni! LOL!
{Just kidding! :) I'm enjoying this game just as it is.}
By the way the party split of the current treasure/unspent bribe money is 210 gold each.

![]() |
I'll just sit here and smile, then.
The AP at this point is remarkably open, with provision for the characters to take any one of a multitude of routes to accomplishing their objective regarding the Spider King, not necessarily involving violence.
You may wish to consider the Field Marshal's words very carefully...

Una Therlmagne |

I think Megan is having some real life issues, but I'm not sure. She's been unemployed for some time. Also, I think she is in England, so she may be somehow affected by the riots. :(
Or not... looks like she's been posting in her other games... :(

Asherick Whiteplume |

Ouch! I hope she is well... I know about being unemployed and how much of a stresser THAT can be. I'll keep vigilant for any posts. Thx for the info!

Asherick Whiteplume |

It seems to me that it was sort of decided to have Una and Hytogg create a suitably noisy distraction to draw off a portion of his personal guard and the rest of us just walk right up to the "Spider King's" Front Doors, kick in, and let the bodies hit the floor as needed until we have apprehended him or slain him if he resists to forcefully.
But... I think the party wanted to go back to Zellara's "home" and consult her wisdom in the cards first... in hopes she would manifest again to speak with us.

![]() |

{sigh}... guess I'll just have to be patient. I want to move on to the next part of the adventure! I've wanted to play this module since it came out... never had the chance before it went out of print... just annoying the game seems to be stalling here.
By the way... how many modules does the Cure of the crimson Throne have in it anyways?

![]() |
Correct, it has the standard 6 volumes. You are presently finishing off part 5 (the first half of it is the retrieval of the letters, taking out of the Spider King completes that part if the party chooses to do so, it's actually optional but of benefit to the city!) of 7 in the first volume. You're on-track level-wise, too.
I have all 6, so you may continue adventuring along this path as long as you wish. Thank you for playing with me, you've been delightful so far.

Asherick Whiteplume |

LOL! Thx.. hehe..'Cure' of the Crimson Throne... lols! {Got to do some better editing next time I post.}
The actual Asherick Whiteplume I play in Organized Play is now 12th level and going into retirement. Just switched Faction to the Silver Crusade.
Its been fun playing Ashe in this adventure path... I hope he's not 'too' much the straight-jawed hero for your likes. I try to play him as accepting with an open and accommodating mind... and not some 'Lawful-Stupid', dogmatic, tyrant!

STR Ranger |

Hey guys,
I've been following your game from the start. I like the way you guys role play.
Was wondering if you were wanting an extra?
Happy to play any role you guys think you're missing.
My work is pretty flexible so I'd be able to post everyday, without dissappearing.
I'll check back to see if you're keen.

STR Ranger |

Further, If you guys are at all interested in another player, feel free to ask any questions or whatever, let me know.
I'm a pretty regular poster on the boards, but if you don't know me, just ask.
I'm hoping to bring either a Magus or Inquisitor to the table (but am open to suggestion if you have any.)
In any case your pbp is a very entertaining read, I'll keep watching.
Cheers.

STR Ranger |

Actually Hytogg,
I was thinking of playing a Cocky 'I can cast AND fight' Hexcrafter Magus,
(Could have some good banter there)
or a Preacher Inquisitor of Ragathiel, focusing on Vengeance. (Rage subdomain)
if the others are cool with mejoining, I'll stat something up
everyone is 3rd level right?
(Also, I don't wanna cause party friction so I'll happily play any class, if anyone sees issues with eitherof my char concepts
What point buy we using?
Megan we can discuss how you want me to come in here or via email.

Varrel |

Hey guys.
Hope I'm not jumping the gun here. Different timezones and I had some spare time today.
Started working on a Hexcrafter Magus (again, I'm cool If you guys as a group don't want another player- Shaktan and Whiteplume have yet to make thier opinion known), if a 3/4caster fits your group.
Click on Varrel's Icon to see a Backstory I'm working on and some stats. It's nowhere near finished, but will give you an idea of where I'm going.
This dude is gonna be dour and very Anti-evil caster, all about Righteous Vengeance and he doesn't believe in forgiveness.

STR Ranger |

As long as you pay proper homage to, and show proper subservience to Hytogg the Magnificent it's good. :-).
Actually Hytogg, where were you going with your build?
Depending on weather you intend to favor Mage or Cleric I might goWitch/EK or Cleric/HV so the group has both higher level arcane and divine magic covered.

Hytogg |

Actually equally with both. I'll be heading here...Mystic Theurge... At 6th level.
Also I'll be travelling the next week and a half. Should be able to post about every day, but mostly later in the evenings, so don't let me hold things up. If you need to DMPC character feel free to do so to move things along.

Asherick Whiteplume |

LOLS! Wow.. I've been looking at the wrong thread! {Snort!}...been sitting looking at the main IC Thread..wonder... "hmmmm... seems to have slowed down... thats unlike Megan to be quiet for so long... wonder whats up!"
Then on a whim I check out this thread and BAM... 9 pots! DOH!!! :)
Sure I'm cool with new players... it was I that mentioned that getting some more players might stimulate the game some! LOL!
A well-played paladin should work well with any selection of characters... as long as they are NOT evil.
I have tried with Ashe to teach the party with word and deed his own virtues... mercy to the merciless {Shakhan}, trust to the untrusting {Una}, humility to the proud {Hytogg}... with varying degrees of success thus far. :)
I'm sure it will be no different for a Inquisitor of Vengeance or a Cocky Magus! :)

Varrel |

I'm looking forward to it.
You have any preference:
Straight magus/Hexcrafter (click avatar to see back story)
Inquisitor of Vengeance
Cleric of Imodae/HV channel focused and Heroism/Archon Subdomain
Witch/EK

Asherick Whiteplume |

Hmmmm....
Well analyzing the party as it stands, we are a little short on arcane hitting power. Hytogg is nice... but going the Mystic Theurge route will be slow for him to come into his power. This is not a detractor or even a subtle hint not to do this... I think its cool, but his effectiveness will be a slow build. So we don't have a hard hitting Arcane caster fo truly offensive spell artillery - which we are approaching levels in which that could be a problem.
Much as it would be cool to have another worshiper of IOMEDAE and a full cleric in the party... we have two paladins and the Cleric theurge, 'eventually'... so we got holy power and healing.
I think the Witch/Eldritch Knight sounds like a VERY interesting concept... but witches need levels to get their truly destructive spells. Most of their 1st level spells are in the 'Crowd Control' vein which is nice but still does not address arcane firepower.
I think the Magus/Hexcrafter would be a better variety fit for our party. Arcane firepower, fighting skill on par with a cleric and, enough 'Crowd Control' spells to match the Witches... though none of the witches healing abilities. Though again we have two paladins and a Cleric Theruge.
But more important... or MOST important in your choice is play WHAT YOU WANT! I'd rather you play something you feel inspired to run and enjoy yourself than play the perfect fit for the party and not really enjoy playing something that though effective and useful is not really what you want. :)

Varrel |

No worries,
I'll continue with Varrel then.
He'll have Slumber hex when he hits 4th level, then most feats will go on arcanas and hexes. Blasting is built into the magus spellist standard and Hexcrafters get all curse spells added to the list automatically.
Magai blur fighter/mage alot and the hexes shall offer me some Save of sucks (I'm sure you and Shaktan will like me evil eying bad dudes).
Just be aware since I'm going to prioritise STR/Int and I only get light armor at low levels, I'll be a bit squisy till later on.
I'll probably debuff Hex first (to let the full melees close and be the target) and then flank/spell combat with you.
I'm keep you guys posted as the char fleshes out.
Megan, if you wanna read Varrel's backstory and email me, we can sort bringing him in mid next week (if that's sufficient time for you), also be aware Varrel is built on 25pt buy. Is that what you guys used? I can lower stats if needed.

STR Ranger |

No worries. My reading of the description says they know what the master is.feeling emotionally. Most groups I've played allow a homing beacon ability of sorts.
BTW, Ashe you mentioned somewhere, you were considering a level of Bard. If some Bard Casty goodness is what you want, then Unsanctioned Knowledge feat might be for you.
Gets you any combination of 4 Bard, Cleric or Inquisitor spells.
Feather Step, Invisiblity, Good Hope and Divine Power are Pretty sweet for a Pally.
