"IMost interesting. I wonder if he means the common definition of that word, or has some other denotation in mind. Seems a little...short-sighted...to limit one's heart, whether for emotion or physical needs. I must find a scrivener, or a wizard. I fear i may be needing scrolls and then some."

The party is far enough away that the priests will not make their way toward you, unless you want to get closer.
Aldous you saw Savannah's Scrolls as you walked through town. Bria hasn't seen many other dwarves in town. The other temples in the area are dedicated to Erastil, Gorum, & Iomedae. Gar's Last Meal also appeared to be a safe place, since you have your own rooms with key. After all, it is a high end establishment.

Aldous Mor'esti |

"Why don't we rent a room for the week? I am sure Gar would be happy for the commerce, and would watch over any belongings we left at his place just fine. Besides, I need to go shopping for a bit anyways. "

1d4 ⇒ 4 Hours
The beggars in the poorer districts have seen the Razrimians charity. Every day they help out the poor the best that they can, rotating where they attend each day. Most of the time it is giving out food or personal supplies. As for attending the temple itself, that is another story. More than one person has gone into the temple and has never been seen again. Most assume those who have vanished have simply joined the faith. In a hard world like this, they could be the lucky ones.

Gar is happy to sell you rooms by the week at 10 gold per room per week.
Shops of interest walking around downtown would be Echgter Enchantments and Savannah's Scrolls. Non-magical wares can be found in all shapes and sizes from the trade market or a variety of armories/blacksmiths flittered about town.
You can pick a place to visit if you wish to hob-nob a bit with the locals. Or just tell me what you want to purchase and I can tell you if it is available.

Aldous waits until Garuneh is ready to go shopping as well, and heads over to Savannah's Scrolls.
"Interesting shop you have here. I am in the market for some scribing materials, and your establishment was recommended by our shopkeeper, Gar. Care to show me your wares?"
Aldous is really only looking for materials to scribe his own scrolls, but anything that is offered or would catch his eye is worth a second glance. Dragon, as usual, has detect magic running (and can speak with Aldous just fine).

Dragon detect magical auras within the shop coming from the number of scrolls she has displayed about.
"My my, you are going to be a busy one? Buzz, buzz, this is very good. Let me know if you need anything else. Good Day."
If there is nothing else you would like to do here, what would you like to do next?

Aldous Mor'esti |

Once scroll materials have been acquired, Aldous takes a leisurely stroll around town, scanning with Detect Magic whenever discreetly possible.
Once he has seen all the "highlights" of the town, he will return to Gar's establishment, hoping to share a room with his teammates.
"Let me just jot this down, and I believe I shall be ready for our introduction to the 'Church'"
Aldous sets up his desk and materials to scribe a scroll of silent image.

Yes she did. That way if you TPK, you can return to this point. Not really. =v) But there are alternative plans should everybody expire.
Walking around town, Aldous gains the sense that this is very blue collar town, ready to for an attack at a moments notice. These are not war-faring people like Spartans, but they know how to defend themselves at a moment notice. Minor magic can be detected at any given time, but nothing of much note.
Unless there is anything else Garuneh & Aldous want to do, I'll move things along. Aldous & Garuneh, just let me know what you will have on your person when you go to the Ranger's Lament and we'll move to tomorrow night.

If we aren't heading off to be sucked into having our brains washed, dried and folded, then Bria will carry all her money and wear her usual equipment (i.e. all of it). On the day of the self offering, she will scale back her worn gear to as described above.

Aldous Mor'esti |

I'm ready. Stashing bow, lasso, longsword, and the spare spellbooks. That leaves me with crossbow, dagger, food, and my spellbook/components. Gold gets left in the room too, pocket change comes with.

After locking up your belongings, you make your way back into town towards the Ranger's Lament that evening.
Sitting in the shadow of the Temple to Razmir, the Ranger’s Lament is a simple establishment. Made from solid wood timbers, the one-story building is comprised primarily of a large common room, with a bar and a kitchen off to one side. Although open for business, very few people appear to be inside, despite the fact that many of the other local establishments seem quite full.
The barkeep welcomes each of you and tells you to take any seat in the house. He dutifully takes any drink orders. Five minutes later, a half-elf enters the Lament. He appears to be young in years, but well road worn. He is armored in chain mail with a longsword at his side. He takes a seat alone, brooding in his own thoughts.
After the first round of drinks are served, a group of six masked men arrive, three dressed in white robes, two in gray robes, and one in black robes. They look about the room and move toward the stage.
After stepping up onto the stage, the figure in the black robes turns to the audience, his face hidden behind an iron mask. The empty eye holes gaze over everybody in the room with a satisfying nod. With a strong voice, he calls out, “You have come here to seek the power and glory of Razmir, and I am here to tell you that he has found you worthy!” At that, all of the other priests chant in one voice, “All praise the Living God!”
“He is proud of you,” the black-robed figure continues, “for taking this, the first of 31 steps to enlightenment, the path of righteousness, the stairs to power and glory. Razmir is the one true god. What other god so richly rewards those who follow him? What other god lives among his people, guiding them with his wisdom and his might? What other god can lead you to true salvation? None of them! Only Razmir can offer you the power, the fortune, and the glory that you desire. Will you join him?”
He folds his arms and waits for an answer.

"You have all made very wise decisions. Now all you have to do is feast and bring this union fruition. Rolen, all food and drink on behalf of the Temple"
Rolen nods in delight, skirting around to everybody taking their orders. Stewed Mutton, Roasted Chicken, Rye Biscuits, Almond Bread, a number of cheeses, beer, bitters, ale & ciders, all abound for anybody to select for their meal.
While dinner is being served, the grey and white robed followers make their way among the crowd with pleasantries and congratulations. They open themselves to any questions the audience may have and expand on the promises of Razmir.

[bW]"So, what can we expect as new adherents to the church? Do we face a period of hazing and proving ourselves? I only ask because our group is rather...capable....in terms of needed skills, and I would rather proceed through any such initiation process quickly than linger in the doldrums."[/b]
Aldous (and Dragon) keep detecting magic, intent on learning what theRazmirans possess and use.

Bria Svartlensbinsbanedottir |

Bria chows down on roasted chicken, red meat and beer, stolidly making her way through the food. A seasoned campaigner, she also makes sandwiches for 'later' which she stows about her person.
She volunteers nothing and makes no idle conversation.

In response to Aldous's question, the grey robed man says to him in a calm voice, "You will be bathed in the Living God's light, and shown the way up the 31 steps. if you learn your lessons of the faith and follow his tenants you make your way up the steps. And then, my son, the closer you will be to view all the heavenly glory.
The black robed priest has two magical auras surrounding him, but no items.
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
You are able to pick one up as faint Necromancy.
None of the Razmirians take off their masks to eat. Everybody else in the tavern, including Rolan appears to be enjoying their meal.

"After you finish your meal. All deals of faith are done over broken bread. I'm sure even in elven society it would be an insult to turn away a host's food and drink. Besides, between you and me, this will be the last good meal you will have in a long time. Binge on the decadence before you purge out your sins."
