I've been running his RotR Anniversary edition for a few months now(we don't get to play every week) and during the fight with Nualia my PC's had problems fighting her because she got warned about them by Lyrie and the trap just outside observation deck two PC's died there but their Paladin(who's a constant pain) stood his ground and nearly killed both Nualia and Lyrie but they both got away.
So my question is what next? i really want to bring Nualia back like it says in the book i really like her as a villain? pushed in to it by the world she was born into. But i wanted to know what other people did with her if this came up for them, where did she go next? where will the PC's meet her next? Also wanted to see how you leveled her up?

Thanks everyone, my group has just taken Ironbriar alive. (Planning out how to play that now) So i was thinking about adding Nualia in after the fight with Xanesha at the earliest but i'll see what i can do i've heard the fight with Xanesha can be nasty.
With leveling her i'll just up her a few level with the Divine Scion and look at adding the fiendish template.

I had a similar problem: both Nualia and Lyrie survived -- though Nualia lost most of her cool gear.
Nualia ventured back to Magnimar where she got back in touch with Xanesha. Xanesha sent her back to the Sandpoint Hinterlands to mark more victims with "greed runes". Nualia went back to Thistletop, got impregnated by Malfeshnekor, and began calling herself the Beast Mother. Xanesha sent her some Faceless Stalker allies -- to work the greed sin angle in Sandpoint. Nualia thoroughly impressed the local goblins again and started marking the important goblin heroes with "greed runes". As these are goblins, having special runes (not writing) on one's chest turned into a goblin fad. So now all "important and significant" goblins have runes on their chests -- sometimes more than one -- few are actual runes tied to the Runewell. Due to her pregnancy and renewed ties to Lamashtu I gave Nualia some cool abilities -- but she is certainly looking for ruins to plunder to renew her gear.
Lyrie fled to Riddleport.

Well if you want to screw with the players a little bit, drop Nualia's diary on them via the town midwife Hannah. It's a slight variation that just adds some extra detail. Turns her into more of a victim than a monster. Ie. In my games I've had her possessed by Malfeshnekor, or had Mal have her possessed by other demons that drive her like a puppet.

Edit: In my games, the players purged the demon from her and used her as a backup pc. One of my female players was playing an aasimir cleric, who was the twin of Nualia.

I'm planning on Father Zantus turning over Nualia's diary to the PCs in my game. Idea being he picked it out of the wreckage of the old church, and then hid it because he didn't want anyone to think poorly of the dead (the events of the Unpleasantness being tough enough on the town) and hoping Nualia had died in the fire like everyone assumed. (Even if she set the fire herself, as the diary suggests, there's no guarantee she would have escaped. Or at least, that was the logic behind his wishful thinking.)
I was originally going to have Naffer Vask be the one who kept it, but considering the party's only interaction with him involved them reducing him to tears because they thought he was involved in the grave robbing, he refuses to have anything to do with them. (Seriously, no one took any social skills to start except for the Wasting-cursed Oracle who had Intimidate. They have since corrected that, realizing that scaring everyone they need information from could have negative effects.)

Good, Nualia is such a great villian and the more mileage you get out of it the better. If you do go with the redemption route players can always use her as a backup pc, even if you don't it still makes her story just a bit more sad. Anyone who cleaned up the ruins of the old cathedral could feasibly have it from Zantus to Gorvi. Amelee I believe is another good choice as per the journal I think she was one of the main antagonists during Nualia's youth, who has since grown up. I always played the town as having secrets and hidding its embarrassing past with a bit of feigned politeness about the Shoanti truce.
One of my players decided to be a bully to a couple of Black Arrow Rangers visiting from Rannick, well after they cheated him at gambling. Needless to say they knocked him out and thanked him for the tip. I wanted to introduce the Black Arrows as a mixed bag of tough frontiersmen.

The long post with all the links (#695) has only a dead link to the diary pages. Can we find them anywhere else?

Here are my links to Google Docs, never used it before but work doesn't block it. If it doesn't work I'll upload them to photobucket or something when I get home.
Edit: Or just email me and I'll send them to you. Allmightydm at gmail
