Alex Traza |
Now that I am feeling myself, I attempt to figure out what the ring does while looking through the stuff that Bambara found.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Oh Bambara you absolute rascal! Bringing expensive gifts to a lady, you spoil me! Since you insist suppose I'll take this anklet. And you even knew that it matched my eyes, how thoughtful of you.
I delicately put the anklet on and flash a smile as I stand up and curtsy.
I thank you, my citron scented champion.
Harmini Wakestep |
ugh... At least he's obedient. I'll keep that in mind the next time I need someone to jump off a bridge.
Harmini sighs audibly.
Oh good. When you're finished picking everything up, Alex, we can continue on upstairs.
She points her crossbow toward the stairs.
Ready when you are, Chui.
Alex Traza |
I look at Bambara and shrug, picking up the silver tray and vase then carefully placing it in my bag.
Hmm, well I should be disappointed by the lack of a sense of humor, but perhaps it is better that the group's eyes and mind are focused on more important things. I also need to make sure I never treat any Ghoran as a servant, those days are thankfully behind them.
I walk up the stairs slowly.
Tell me Bambara, did you know the old druid Ghorus? Or did you, umm, awaken after he had passed?
Bambara the Fierce |
Bambara not remember much. Bambara knew he made bambara. Bambara not like we are food for humans. Bambara not like that at all. Ghorans hunted as food...
i am getting noticeably angrier as i talk
Didnt teach how to breed only to die. Only to be food. Humans not know we smart until many ghoran eaten.
I move with haste up the stairs to stand near chui, sap boiling ready for some action.
Alex Traza |
Oh dear. Note to self, do not mention Ghorus again. To think that the Nexians would consume a sentient people...
I go up the stairs as well and start thinking out loud.
My travels have only cemented one thing, the greatness of man is matched only by its cruelty. The world is so big and we are all so small, sometimes it feels like we can’t do anything at all. But the world can be better, in spite of its flaws. The world will be better and he’ll be the cause.
Chui Nyeusi |
Chui surveys the elite team which is more-or-less forming up behind him on the stairs.
OK, time to kick butt and earn the big bucks!
Once Team Pee Fee is in position, Chui carefully opens the easternmost of the double doors next to the head of the stars, takes a big sniff, and peeks in inside
Talalmackk Chirronna |
The smell of the Div is strong here, though you believe it is not fresh. Perhaps this is where is stays.
Chui Nyeusi |
Chui whispers back ...
Big space here, smells like it could be s**t head's home.
Alex and Harmini, you two come in and stay just inside the door, and Bam, stay just aside with your veggie senses on the look for s**t head. I'm going to start carefully moving around the room in a clockwise direction
Chui carefully moves west until he can see into the two alcoves that are part of the western portion of this room.

The alcoves are pretty empty, mostly decayed clothes and other various houseware. The only things of note are the Bed, The Dresser, and the hornet's nest.
The dresser is in decent shape, though similar shape to other furniture in the house. It has probably weathered better being on the second floor. As for is this Ariseti's room, you can't be sure but given the size, this room is probably the master bedroom.
Chui Nyeusi |
Chai whispers back ...
Nothing that wants to kill and eat us ... yet.
Chai carefully moves over to the dresser, taking a look into the northwest closet so the ancient red dragon lurking there doesn't take the party by surprise.
Moved on roll20
Standing in front of the dresser, Chui cracks his knuckles.
Oh Great and Powerful Bastet, I wouldn't mind finding a diamond the size of my head in here.
Alex Traza |
As I wait by the door while Chui checks out the room, pushing the sand around slightly with my foot, I sheepishly look over at Bambara.
Hey, I didn’t mean to get you riled up by bringing up a long dead druid for no reason. I’m sorry for upsetting you. Being made for that purpose is terrible and with me being hungry ALL the time, it’s great to know that you trust me. I would never do anything to break that trust.
Talalmackk Chirronna |
You easily move the dresser aside and find a bronze chest hidden behind it. The chest is tarnished but seems in good working order.
While Chui is examining the dresser and now chest, is anyone else doing anything?
Talalmackk Chirronna |
My comp is in the shop, so moving myself on Roll20 is difficult. I’ve been trying to get it to work on my phone with zero success so far. I will prevail eventually.
Alex, no worries. If you describe your movements aas well as you can I should be able to move you.
Alex Traza |
Oh I get it. He’s like a flower so he has to go mess around with a bee’s nest. Wait...does that make sense? Ahh anyway.
I move over to the nest.
I think I can handle this one. Beside, if whatever is in this is also cursed, it’s best to stack all of them on one person. I’m guessing Imanish put this in here. Also, little known fact, hornet honey is an amazing hair softener.
I poke (or lightly kick depending on the height of the old nest) and if I hear no angry buzzing noises I use my claws to open it up.
Talalmackk Chirronna |
Chui attempts to open the chest but the lock is a bit more stubborn than he thought.
Feel free to give it another try.
Alex heads over to the corner and pokes at the hornet's nest. After guessing it is safe she cuts open the surface to find out what is inside. As the nest easily tears open, a golden metal handband falls to the floor, rolling around and coming to rest at her feet.
Alex Traza |
You know me well.
I’m slightly disappointed. Hornet honey would have been welcomed, my split ends are getting a bit out of control. I won’t worry to much, if the headband was cursed the div would put it out in the open like the ring. Imanish clearly hid this so it must be valuable. Still, what is it I wonder? I do...love gold.
I turn and wink at Harmini and put the headband on.
Talalmackk Chirronna |
As the headband settles on Alex's head, it's form begins to change. The gold begins to twist and seems to become a twisted band of gold and copper. A black stone carved into a skull appears on the front of it, with copper horns sprouting from it.
Alex Traza |
Oh WOW! WHAT A RUSH! I feel incredible! Powerful. My blood calls to me all the time, but now...
I feel around my head and gasp as I touch the horns growing out of my skull. I begin frantically looking around the room and at the others.
Does anyone have a mirror?! A polished blade!? Bambara, let me see Longslash for a second!
Harmini Wakestep |
Like throwing oil onto a flame... This probably isn't a good thing.
Hold still, Alex... Let me try and figure this thing out.
Harmini approaches Alex cautiously, casts Detect Magic and attempts to identify the strange magical item.
Bambara the Fierce |
I ho up to Alex drawing Shortstab as its most likely more polished.
Bambara like your hair. Black Rock scarry.
I try to hold Shortstab so that Alex can see her new horns.
bambara hopes this not end bad. no want to hurt Alex. Alex save Bambara before.
just in case I position myself between Alex and the rest of us.
Alex Traza |
I sit down and fold my legs into the lotus position. I run my hands over my horns and almost hyperventilate as I realize that they’re a part of me.
Du hattest recht, Harmini, es ist sehr schön.
As I look over my reflection, I finally move over to the stone skull and my demeanor changes from excitement to slight confusion and worry.
Wait, is that a skull? Am I the bad guy now? You don’t see many just and righteous people walking around with black skulls on their head. Maybe I could cover it with my hair? Paint it copper? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this, but you’re right Bam. The black rock is scary.
