I am, actually, and quite sorry to have slowed things down, having three school concerts in four days, and almost never in front of my computer. I'm still here, though, and will pick things up again.

Today, I'm the accompanist (piano) for one of the local elementary honor choirs on a recruitment tour of local schools. Mondays are my day to teach in the classroom all day, then rehearse with one choir in the afternoon and another in the evening. Sunday was Spring concert for both choirs.
FYI I'm still around. Tempo has picked up which has just made me busier. Don't feel bad, the wife has felt neglected too.
Heh, I know of a guy like that that does something similar with the middle schools around here, spending a day at each one. Weird set up, but I guess if there's not a budget for a music instructor at each school...

I don't play Wizards but I know their power just gets scarier the higher level they are... I can't wait to cast a chain lightning spell and shock the hell out of something in this campaign.
I'm waiting for level 2 so I can finally get some monk in :)

I find levels just get in the way of player fun, and interrupt the storyline. Players spend days figuring out what to "take" at each level, then are usually unsatisfied with their choices and start whining at me to change things after the fact, which disrupts continuity. Just more hassle than it's worth, so I prefer to stay at first level for the whole game.
Hmm that saddens me a little bit as I really wanted the monk level to to go full blown unarmed at that point :P Of course the closest thing I've done for an attack roll at this point is arm-wrestling Barin (and losing both), so it may not be that big other than pride. Regardless, even if a 'level' were to be added, I'm sure it wouldn't be until after a big milestone in the case happens, and possibly even the case itself is solved (assuming here Nazard, speaking outloud my thought, not indicating what you should or shouldn't do).

Whoa!! Oh my, folks, that was all a complete and total fib there, with respect to no leveling in this game. I was seriously just pulling some legs and obviously rolled a bit too high on my Bluff check.
You'll all level pretty much once per "episode", at least in the beginning. I have material written right up to level four, at which point things are too unpredictable to pre-write specific cases, other than a few outlines of some major cases and general actions of key NPCs.
Sorry if you got the wrong idea. That whole post about not believing in leveling was a complete and total crock!
Well I did roll a 3 for my sense motive earlier :P I think a touch more silliness would have helped sell it as so, such as saying you'll also be removing die rolls as that only clutters up the post screens. :P

As for the miscommunication: I blame the lack of being able to convey tone and emotion accurately in a forum post!

I saw what you did there! That sounds great. I was worried, though, that you were an evil GM who thought playing a Level 1 character for the entire campaign was acceptable.
Btw, the animosity there from Barin is quite good for role playing. Conflict makes for a great story. I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops and building individual rivalries and friendships within the group.
I'm leaving the country shortly. That being said, I'll be gone for the next couple of days. Is it possible to step awa from the game until I return later this month? I'd like to focus on my friends and family when I get home.

I have updated the google site with the new info we have the enjoiner and the various 'people of interest', or as much of it as I could remember. If I've missed anything feel free to let me know or update it yourself :)
A few questions that have occured to me and that we should look into (beyond what we already are)
- What was the name of the family Rav Kinman bought his fragment from.
- What was the fragment that Triffan Marblecutter owned and where did he get it from.
- Find out if Icaman Freat (author of the book Simza and Issceran just found about the enjoiner Fetishes and Relics of the Shoanti Savages) is still alive and whether or not he can help us.
- Research the five families mentioned in the above book.
Those last two are going to be what Simza is looking for now, either at the library, or somewhere that keeps historical records of such people.
Uhh just to clarify for Barin in case he wasn't making stuff up to scare the buttler, the snake kills by crushing not poisoning. And it can burrow through stone to collapse entire buildings. :p

Barin wants the butler to take the threat seriously, and he reckons the best way to do so is making the threat look really scary AND to put Bannock's reputation and role on the line.
As for the poison... I couldn't remember if the snake was also poisonous, I remembered it bit that guard but wasn't sure he poisoned him besides crushing him. So I just put everything in the description to make things look scarier to Bannock...
Yeah I figured that was probably it, but I can be pedantic at times :p

I got to return home Sunday night at 9:30 pm (but only because the fire is spreading away from Manitou Springs.
