LoreMaster GM |
Well guys, I think it is about time we get out of here before I get into trouble! And I am sad to inform you that the VIP tour is almost over.I have taken you to all the exciting places, all that is left are the boring floors. Before you leave, was there anything you are interested in seeing?
**EDIT**
Because I am ruling the rest in the room for simplicity of the play by post. Technically the rest would happen as you travel between destinations, but instead of wrapping up this room then asking and waiting to find out who rested, I just lumped it together so people could post their checks at the same time as they plan to rest. I didn't see any conflict in that ruling until you pointed that out. There is supposed to be a sense of Envar wanting to get away from this area before he gets caught.
Vyviane Isafira |
Thanks for the bots! I really fell off the posting ball the past few days!
Vyviane gives Ak a weak smile as she limps out from behind the cabinet, before remembering her persona and straightening up, hiding the pain. "Thanks, but I Franchska von Chescha, am okay. But those things were certainly scary! I see why your mother doesn't let you up here if that happens all the time."
She trundles into the next room, but doesn't spot anything of interest and instead picks up a med kit and asks if anyone knows how to use one well. "You know, just so we can get patched up!"
She then takes a moment to sit down and breathe as she recuperates from the near death the fire thing dealt her.
Taking the minutes and spending the Resolve to rest! She'll still be down some HP though. With the one hit and the failed fort she should be at 6/6 sp and 5/8 hp
After her heart rate settles down she gives Envar a smile and asks, "Hmmm, I'm okay with boring. You'd probably make it seem oh so interesting! Maybe where all the magic happens?"
LoreMaster GM |
The magic? But Franchska, I already took you to the lounge. I don't want to go back there... clearly missing the point of what you meant by magic.
LoreMaster GM |
Envar ponders it for a moment, well... all the offices are pretty boring. But there is one office I am sure you will love! I’m the only other employee who has access this one... Mother’s office is really plush. I go there sometimes to get away from it all... I mean, when she’s not around.
He then takes off walking to the elevator again. I am so excited to show you this place! How did I forget about this? We just need to be quite... Mother doesn't like me in her office without her.
Ilia Tamm’s office is located on the third floor of Brilliance. As you exit the elevator with Envar, a pair of vesk in security uniforms enters it.
Envar goes to the door to his Mother's office and is about to open it...I need perception checks from everyone again. This one is trap related if there is a bonus any of you get to noticing traps.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
LoreMaster GM |
Before Envar is able to open the door, Connor-3 sees what looks to be a newly installed trap on the door. It looks like it can be disabled. Engineering or Computers to disable the trap.
LoreMaster GM |
There is some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the trap is just a device that emits a silent alarm that alerts Ilia Tamm through her personal comm unit. The bad news is that you are pretty sure you set the trap off while disabling it.
With the trap already set off, Envar proceeds to open the door. This rectangular room is starkly different from the typical gold and-silver metal decor found throughout the rest of Brilliance. Darkwood credenzas and bookcases complement the woodpaneled walls and tan wooden floor here. A model of the Pact Worlds system, sculpted in gold and silver metal, hangs from the ceiling near the center of the room. Framed parchment maps from some ancient era adorn the walls. The lone visible piece of modern technology is a silver computer console affixed to a darkwood desk on the eastern side of the room. A private climate-controlled and air-sealed balcony overlooks open space to the north. Racks lined with dusty bottles stand along the western wall of the office, watched over by an oil painting of a graceful lashunta woman reaching up toward a radiant sun.
Ilia’s personal computer sits on her desk in the eastern part of the office.
And here is her office! But I do not recommend staying long, Mother will know that we are here.
AK - The Mechanic |
Ak walk around the office checking everything out Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9. Ak then takes a seat in Ilia Tamm’s chair by her computer. AK looks at Envar and waits till he has a moment to gesture to Vyviane to keep Envar distracted. Slight of hand: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Tries to use the computer with out Envar Knowing. Computer: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25.
LoreMaster GM |
I will post to move us along in a little while. The office is the end goal of the mission. You were asked to get some files from here. There is an explanation for that back on the first page of the game play.
LoreMaster GM |
Envar doesn't seem to care if Ak goes on the computer. You crushed the roll so it doesn't matter but because you impressed him 3 times throughout this adventure, he would of given you the password and key card giving you a +10 to the check. Right now, you guys are like super heroes to him. Ak effortlessly breaks through the fire wall and finds some interesting files. You can recognize the various secured files but cannot discern any major information. The single most obvious clue from the data is that Arch Energy is essentially a front that funds clandestine meetings between the members of its board of directors. Each of the directors is hidden by a false identity, and it should be clear that this is the data Historia-7 is looking for. The data requires a dedicated team of data analysts to properly pry any major secrets from.
With Landros and Ak looking around, they determine the painting of a lashunta woman reaching toward the sun will probably be worth some credits. Also one of the credenzas contains a psychic booster. There is still something in here that needs a perception check. Once that check is made, you are ready to go since you got what you came for!
AK - The Mechanic |
AK hides any singe he was on the computer and shuts it down. Oh WOW , Leo likes Leo likes a lot. AK walks over to the painting This is beautiful, Envar do you know anything about this painting? Leo really likes it. Would you mine if Leo has it?
Vyviane Isafira |
Francheska, seeing what Leo is up to slides in between him and Envar, just to make sure that what they are doing doesn't end up in the wrong ears. "So, what does your mother do up here? I guess it's probably toooottallly boring, but she's gotta be doing something...."
being a distraction, IDK what skill that'd be: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Add in skill modifiers as needed!
While trying to keep the young man distracted she does glance about the place.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
LoreMaster GM |
I comitioned that painting for mother a few years ago... she looks old now. But if you like it so much, you should have it! It would totally make shopping for her super easy this year!
While Vyviane is searching around, she spots a hidden drawer in the desk. Inside she finds a standard datajack. Envar responds to Vyviane, I don't know what she does in here... I just know it seems to always make her grumpy! She is always in a bad mood while she works. But I like it in here. I find it relaxing... when she isn't here.
After the room is searched and Ak takes the data, Envar says to the group, I think you should get out of here... Mother is not going to be happy I let you in her office. But if I need a group of super awesome gladiators again, I know who I will be contacting!
With that, the group makes their escape. You board your ship again and get ready to fly away, thinking you pulled the heist off. You travel a little bit away from the station when you realize you have attracted the attention of two security ships from the station, flanking you. It is clear the jig is up and you will need to fight your way out. A behind the scenes look into this adventure: It is actually possible to avoid this fight but it is really hard and takes a TON of luck. Throughout the adventure, different security guards made checks to see through your disguises, you needed to disarm the trap successfully, impress Envar 2 of the 3 times, and successfully hack the computer. You made by all the security checks except the very last one when the guard rolled a natural 20. But you also set off the trap, so here we are. Just wanted to explain how this scenario worked because I think it is cool they built the adventure with a reward for pulling it off perfectly.
Give me sometime but the front slide of the maps slide will be the space combat slide.
Don't forget to discuss who will be getting your computer bonuses every round. This ship gives you three +1s to spread around.
To Landros, Make sure you are paying attention to your maneuverability of this ship since it is lower than most ships. Also, roll your piloting check for initiative. One of my ships rolled a 30, the other rolled a 19. If you are less than 19, you may move now, if you are between them, I will move Blue and then you can move than I will move Red. Make sense?
To everyone, If you pay attention to my initiative tracker at the end of my posts, I try to include all situational modifiers to your rolls next to your name to help you to remember.

Map is up to date. You will notice the lines coming out of the ships, those are there to make it easy to tell what arches people are in. For when you move, I keep them going out to 5 hexes in all directions.
Also, I don't expect you to flip the ships around to make the facing work, that is a huge hassle so I always just put an arrow in the way that you are facing. This makes life easier for everyone involved.
Lastly, when you move, I would like you to draw lines to follow the movements of you so I can see how you moved. Space fighting is complex and it is really hard to just look at a map and understand how you moved. I will put as the 3rd slide an example of what a round looks like for how I would like the maps to look like.
The second slide is your ship's stat block. For information on what each role in space combat can do, follow the link under my name in posts to "Starship Combat". It is the best PDF I have found so far for it.
I know this is a bunch of your first times, so please ask questions! I have no problem answering anything. When everyone understands what they are doing and getting into it, space fights can be a lot of fun, but there is a learning curve. Both Ak and Vyviane have played in space fights with me so if you see an unanswer question, feel free to answer it.

Just a word of advice, when you don't have a different stunt to try, evade is always a good option. If you succeeded, your AC is better, if you fail nothing bad happens. Most pilots will have a high enough bonus that they can not fail by 5 or more so there really is no risk.
The red ship starts flying at an angle toward you than evasively takes a sharp turn, but still traveling in your direction.

Vyviane gives a sigh as she sees that the security ships caught up with them. "It was the alarm wasn't it? Weydan help me, I sometimes truly loathe security systems! Alright, everyone to their posts! Landros, evasive maneuvers please, Connor I wanted info on their ship yester... Nevermind, I see you've already got some data. Looks good! Landros we might really not want to be in enemy code name 'Blue's front arc! AK, can you get some extra power through to the weapons? If we give them a strong enough punch they might think twice about actually trying anything! Needless to say, but Bagit I need you to throw the best punch you can right now! And I mean by shooting of course!"
Encourage Bagit, DC 15? Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Should I be putting my rolls in a spoiler tab?
AK - The Mechanic |
Going over the engineering of the ship it didn't take long for AK to be able to re route some power to help the guns. Engineering: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
LoreMaster GM |
When it comes to rolling outside of spoilers, I do not mind either way. That being said, I will not let the captain encourage you after you roll if the roll is not behind a spoiler, but she can if you do put it behind a spoiler. (ex. if Ak rolls out in the open but missed the dc by 1, you could not post after him and boost him. But if Ak missed by 1 and posted behind a spoiler, I would allow you to boost him). I trust that the Captain is following the rules and not opening spoilers when she isn't supposed to. I reserve the right to change this rule if there is suspicious activity. (Also, I expect everyone else to act consistently, if for 5 rounds you have been posting out in the open, and then fail your check on round 6, you can not just put that in a spoiler that round). This is a trust based system, so just do your best to play fairly.
Bagit is able to take Vyviane's advice and turn it to action as he feel confident in his skills. It also helps that the gun has some extra juice from Ak.
The blue enemy seems unable to take a shot or anything as it just sits there, but the red ship fires its micromissile at you. The explosion just stops shot of the blue ship but does hit you. But the blast does not seem to have the power to break through your shield. 5 damage to your after side.
Since no one claimed any of the pluses from the computer last round, Bagit, you should take one of them. Remember next round that you all have three +1's to use (can't be used on the initiative roll).
Landros, you can roll initiative now, but even if you act first, please wait till Bagit posts before you move the ship. Red is 19 blue is 24. You post first if you are under 19.

Yep, that was my bad.
Ak is able to fix up the damage done to make the shields full powered again.
Landros is able to fly the ship in an evasive way making it harder to hit, plus he moved into the blind spot of one of the enemies.
The red enemy ship takes a shot at you from a long range, but somehow manages to still hit you! It is a powerful blast, but fails to break your shields. 7 damage to your aft shield
This fight is super easy since I can not break through your shields in a single hit. If you all agree, I think I will call the fight after you destroy one ship for time sake since it will be a long one with missing a gunner.
red rolled a 22 for initive and blue rolled a 12. If you roll less than 12, wait till Bagit shoots before you move yourself.
