Sorry I forgot to mention that my end-of summer schedule would/will be so full. The eclipse + marching band filled up this last week, and early tomorrow I leave for another vacation until Saturday. See you all then. Sorry for the long waits this summer. This was by far the busiest summer of my whole life, and school is picking up after labor day which should mean consistent schedule. Fingers crossed.

Zathan attacks, his unarmed strike dealing 9 damage to B8. Jjagir misses.
Sarah Moves.
B1, B2, B3, and B5 move.
B4 moves and attacks Zathan. Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17, but his rapier bounces off his armor.
B7 yells and thrusts his rapier at Zathan, Attack: 1d29 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 but his swing goes wild.
B8 stumbles back (AoO from Zathan, as your spear is leveled the wrong way it will have to be unarmed strike.)
B6 grunts and swings at Jjagir, Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 but his swing is so wild, his grip slips and his rapier flies out of his hands and impales the post of a tent an inch or so above Sarah's head.

Zathan Jax |

Using his heightened awareness and reflexes (combat reflexes), Zathan unleashes three attacks at those around him as they move, swinging another kick at the bandit he just attacked as he moves away while he uses his spear to jab at both of the approaching bandits (reach weapon means they have to move out of a threatened square to move adjacent).
AoO with spear vs. B4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
AoO with spear vs. B7: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
AoO unarmed strike vs. B8: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Winst Ulbrage |

Not wanting to leave the others behind, and seeing that the strange kid ain't having any problem so far. Winst pushes toward the bandits charging straight to the camp, smacking him with a well placed but glancing blow. Maybe it will draw attention away from Billy and Sarah.
Warhammer to B5: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
damage if hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Zathan Jax |

My next action will depend on how my AoOs resolved...

Jjagir |

But Jjagir is good to go...
Continuing to attack the bandits who are near him (I believe that means that no handle animal check is required...), Jjagir steps forward (5ft-step) and unleashes a series of bite and claw attacks on the two bandits on either side of him. Attacking B6 first, then switching to B5 once B6 drops.
Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Other Claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Jjagir |

Claw 1 crit confirmation and extra damage): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 231d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Zathan Jax |

Heh, crit on claw 1 had the same damage as the claw 2 attack (which I assume missed). Oh well...
I guess I can go ahead and roll this conditionally...
Directing Jjagir to continue his attack (which I don't think is necessary, but in the interest of keeping things moving...), Zathan looks between the two men in front of him (B4 and B7), evaluating the damage already done, and kicks the one who looks like he's in worse shape (unless one of them went down, in which case he'll go for the other one).
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Then, glancing behind him and seeing the young boy moving dangerously close to combat, Zathan moves to defend him, holding his spear out and daring the bandits he leaves behind to follow (this movement will provoke AoOs from B4 and B7 if they are still up).

Zathan Jax |

That second "handle animal" roll (the one that included a damage roll) was supposed to say "attack". Noticed too late to edit. Oops.

Sarah Vinland |

Sarah eeps and ducks when the rapier impacts the tent next to her. After recovering from the surprise she makes a short sprint towards the battle 1square up and 4 to the left , finished by putting two fingers on her mark. The Mark emits a pulse of nothingness, a visible wave traveling through space, lacking color but not being transparent. When the wave hits an enemy it cringes to their skin eating away the flesh, when it would hit an ally it splashes around them likable a wave hitting an invisible rock. chanel energy (with Selective Channeling)30 ft burst
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

LegitGM |

Zathan hits B4 and B7, killing B7.
Winst hits.
Billy misses.
Jjagir drops B5 but misses B6
Zathan kills B4 with his kick.
Sarah, I assume you are trying to heal the living because there are no undead nearby - so everyone except Zathan heals 1 hp, and any bandits in the radius are unaffected because of Selective Channel.
B1, B2, B3, and B8 flee as several members drop. B6 roars and swings his rapier in a wild slash at the beast in front of him. Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 but misses.

Zathan Jax |

According to her archetype, Sarah channels void energy, which would damage the bandits, not heal us. They get a Fortitude save for half damage (instead of the usual Will save), though I think the minimum damage rule applies here, so a successful save in this case would turn it into one point of nonlethal damage.
Edit: Which I believe means that B6 is dead, or unconscious if he makes his save. Now there's the question of whether we want to chase the survivors. Do we want to keep them from reporting back? Do we want to question one of them? Or, alternatively, do we want to track them and see where they go?

Zathan Jax |

Btw, do we have a unit leader at this point? I think all of the people who were chosen have since quit. Based on class choices, Winst would seem the most obvious candidate.

Zathan Jax |

Zathan didn't volunteer to be leader, but he joined the fight anyway. Probably not the best choice for leader though, what with the 8 charisma and barely speaking Common.
I think we threw continuity out the window when we ignored the fact that 2/3 of the PCs, including everyone but Sarah and Zathan who participated in that fight, just disappeared.

Zathan Jax |

Seeing the bandits retreat, Zathan looks to the others. Though he doesn't speak, the hard, cold look on his face is unusually expressive, as if to say "I have no intention of letting them get away."
I added more grid, since we're probably going to need it if we decide to chase them, which is what Zathan intends to do.

Winst Ulbrage |

"Me neither." Winst answers Zathan's expression. "This all smells something awful, don't it? Bandits used as training dummies, than the same bandits happen to ambush where we're told to camp. If we keep following the script we're like to end up dead." Looking around to see what the others think, especially Sarah to see if she wants to take lead "I'd suggest hunting them back to their base instead of chasing them down in the woods. Taking the artifact we've been tasked with early if they've already got it. Whittling them down a bit if they don't."

Sarah Vinland |

"I'm good at not following scripts. Chasing someone faster than yourself rarely works" Sarah emphasises by knocking on her armor
Pointing at Jjagir she adds [/b]" he should be able to track them down easily and if some of those lying around here are still alive we might get some answers or a sacrifice, their choice."[/b]

Zathan Jax |

I take it you're both delaying your actions?
Zathan nods, as if some decision had been reached, and charges after the bandits, whistling for Jjagir to come along. As he reaches them, he jumps up into the air and swings his elbow into the head of one of the bandits (B1), trying to knock him out (switching to nonlethal damage, which brawlers can do without penalty).
Unarmed Strike (nonlethal): 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 201d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Also realized I've been forgetting the bonus from Bless.

Jjagir |

Jjagir runs parallel to Zathan and bites at the leg of B2.
Bite: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 131d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Zathan Jax |

I think I just took out B1, kept him alive for questioning, and I have B3 covered as well. If you can hit B8, you should be able to take him down...

Zathan Jax |

Btw, if we want to try the thing where we take their clothes and pretend to be them to get into their camp, we should make sure we take them all out.

Zathan Jax |

Winst, if you do a charge, you can move twice your speed and then attack (with a +2 on the attack roll). With a speed of 20ft, that's exactly enough movement to get you to the square next to Zathan, where you can attack B3. After that, if he continues to run away, we both get AoOs, which should be enough to take him out.

Zathan Jax |

If you can hit B8, you should be able to take him down...
Btw, this part was meant for Billy.

Winst Ulbrage |

Ahh, you had mentioned B8, which is way out of my range. B3 is managable though.
Despite his misgivings of leaving the others behind, the large ginger also didn't like the idea of one of them getting ganged up on by their attackers. So he charges the nearest bandit, but a root catches his foot at the last moment making his aim go wide.
charge with warhammer: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 9
damage if hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Zathan Jax |

Ahh, you had mentioned B8, which is way out of my range. B3 is managable though.
Yeah, I realized the confusion. The B8 thing was meant for Billy. If he moves his speed, he can get in range for a kinetic blast.

Zathan Jax |

runx3 (60ft) , please place me directly right of b2
Done.

Billy Vhaine |

That is a right lovely idea Zathan.
Billy will move up and point at B8, and once again a streak of fire will shoot out at him.
Attack Roll vs. Touch AC: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage Roll: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

LegitGM |

Adding on to my last post...
B6 stumbles, his skin pale, the cut on his side gushing blood, and drops over, unconscious.
With less people, there will be no squad leader unless you guys want to assign one.
Zathan's elbow connects, knocking B1 unconcious. Do you still want Jjagir to bite him?
Winst misses.
Billy's fire strikes true, knocking B8 unconscious.
B2 swings his rapier at Sarah. Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 CritConfirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 dealing Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6, damage.
B3 swings his rapier at Zathan. Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 dealing Attack: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 damage.

Jjagir |

Jjagir's attack was against B2...
Jjagir continues to attack as directed, unleashing a series of attacks on B2.
Bite: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 = 231d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Claw 1: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 = 221d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Claw 2: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 = 181d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Zathan Jax |

Zathan meets the bandit's eyes as the sharp point of the rapier sinks into his flesh. With his gaze locked, Zathan brings up his hand, the one still clutching the spear, and jabs it into the man's jaw (this one is lethal damage).
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 171d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
When the man's head snaps back, Zathan is gone, having moved beside him in a "stick and move" maneuver (5ft step, no other mechanical effect other than getting him closer to B2).

Winst Ulbrage |

Winst uses the bandits distraction to slam his hammer down on the other man's shoulder. Hearing the scream and pop he knows this one is down for better or worse.
Warhammer to whoever is still up: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Depending on whether our GM wants us to stick to init order or not, Winst will either be hitting B3 or moving and hitting B2. Either or.

Zathan Jax |

Depending on whether our GM wants us to stick to init order or not, Winst will either be hitting B3 or moving and hitting B2. Either or.
B2 and B3 should both be up for you to attack. Neither had taken damage before this round, and assuming all of my attacks hit, I did 9 damage to B2 and 8 damage to B3, which is not enough to drop either of them. Your damage should drop B3, leaving B2 with 2hp and Sarah and Billy both in position to attack him this round. Zathan also moved close enough to AoO if he tries to run.

Zathan Jax |

B2 and B3 aren't on that list yet because, as of the GM's last check-in, they haven't taken any damage.
