Anya pulls back the curtain....
Behind the curtain is a large alcove containing a pair of casks and crates. The crates once contained food but are now empty. One cask contains water and the other is half full of ale laced with violet rust poison.
The back of the alcove contains a secret door.
Several humanoid tracks are found which lead to the secret door in the back wall.

Just to confirm, we haven't seen any other exits out of this room other than this secret door?
Before we go through this secret door, should we finish looking for the poor townsfolk that were taken around here? We didn't finish looking where we saw the wolf.
Making sure they are safe is our priority.

Anya walks around the ogre's cave looking for any other exits, over by the pile of furs she sees that above the furs is a natural chimney about three feet in diameter. Definitely big enough for a medium sized creature to squeeze through.

Casimir opens the secret panel and looks at the corridor beyond and steps through. He then turns waiting on the others.
Bec, Bowen and Anya gather together toward the center of the cave.
Newt carefully checks the passageway where Casimir has already tread and found no traps.

Newt scouts ahead quietly except for the light off of his beetle gland.
The corridor continues to the southwest for about 60 feet before ending at a shaft. A wooden ladder attached to the shaft leads down into darkness. Further than his light source can see.
I am not going to update the map at this point. I will update it if necessary.

I have no choice Mischa...my course is set. I will save these people or die trying. I would feel better with the rest of you at my side though. he smiles trying to lighten the situation just a little.
We go down... Casimir straps his shield to his back, We can't risk letting Newt go down that far alone, if you will all see this through lets go.
My turn Newt. If someone could hold drop a light when I get half way down?, Casimir starts down the ladder knowing that it's just better at this point to get us all down as quickly as possibly rather than trying stealth.

Our adventure continues...
Casimer straps his shield to his back and clutches the lighted stone in his hand and closes his fist around it to block out the light as he descends the ladder. As he is descending on about the eight rung the handhold breaks away. He tries to grab another as the lighted pebble falls from his hand but is unable to do so as he falls the remaining 20 feet to the hard cavern floor and lands awkwardly in a twisted pile. His body lays lifeless as blood pools by his head.
Newt quickly finishes his descent after Casimir avoiding the broken rung altogether. It looks like someone had designed that rung to break away he notices as he passes it. Once at the bottom of the 30 foot ladder he checks over Casimir, he still has a pulse but has a nasty looking bleeding head wound and will need some immediate aid.
Looking around the narrow corridor continues on to the southwest. If something or someone was now here they had to have heard Casimir fall.
Casimir - 11 hitpoints Currently at -4 of 10 (Unconscious and Dying.)
Please give me a DC 14 Constitution Check on your next action to stabilize.

As everyone goes down the ladder, Bowen waits to watch the rear, then follows as soon as possible, making sure to avoid the messed up ring.

Once down below, he moves to keep watch a tad up front in the corridor.

Mischa The Witch of the Woods |

Once down Mischa's expression twists into a grimace as she sees the state that Casimir is in by the light of the fallen pebble still glowing in the darkness by her simple cantrip.
She kneels next to him and first casts Stabilize on him to keep him from getting worse. Then gathering herself she concentrates and uses up her higher level spells for the day and casts Cure Light Wounds holding her hands over Casimir's bloody head and chest.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Lord Casimir continued to bleed as the others made their way down...
Mischa was the first to make her way down the ladder, due to the narrow nature of the tunnel, Newt made his way to the other side of Casimir's body to make room for Mischa.
Bec made his way down next, pushing the group to spead out even further down the tunnel to make room. Mischa was not giving up her spot next to Casimir and sent Bec on over by Newt so she could have room to work.
Finally Anya and Bowen came down and further cramped the space, Bowen moved down to take the forward position in the corridor. He didn't notice the tripwire that was set just across the corridor as he moved. As the tripwire was broken a greatclub that was attached to the ceiling swung down toward him on a rope. Bowen managed to dodge the trap as the greatclub swung hard and smashed into the cave wall. The impact making everyone in the group jump with fright.
Bowen noticed that only a few feet from him now the passage opened up ahead into a large cave.
Mischa finally got Casimir stabilized in all the commotion and then applied a healing spell. The severity of his injuries was great and the healing spell barely was enough to bring him conscious. Casimir flicked open his eyes.
Casimir minus 1 hitpoint. -5 of 10 remaining.
Mischa minus Cure Light Wounds spell.
Casimir plus 6 hitpoints. 1 of 10 remaining.

Newt moves in front of Bowen to look ahead of the group. the cavern opens into a large area....
This chamber is 35 feet in diameter and has a clean stone floor. Along the northwest wall is a stocky L-shaped wooden workbench covered with beakers, flasks, and assorted glassware. A smaller wooden table rests to the southwest but is not nearly as cluttered. It holds a few opened 'books, and orderly rows of upside-down glassware. Along the northeast wall are several pegs holding cloaks and a broom. A passage exits the room in all directions.

She applies two healing salves to the worst wounded areas of the young noble's body. two salves: 2d3 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Checks to see how effective they were and grimaces at how little they did. She applies two more

And nods with satisfaction at the result. You are fine now. Though we run low on supplies. The trap that felled you... These are not ogre made. Who was it working with.. Or for... And to what purpose?

Casimir struggled to get to his feet and might have fallen back to the ground without the swift hands of Bec and Bowen to stabilize him.
Thank you...I am better though still a little shaky. Misha, your magical abilities have come in handy again...namely saving my life. Sorry I caused more of an issue than I helped by falling down.
He drew out his sword and donned his shield, Maybe we will finally find out who or what is truly behind all of this.
