Illonna struggles against the man but holds her ground. She may be outnumbered on arms, severely so, but her faith was strong and clenching her draw she retaliates with her sword. The blow is clumsy though and she fails to wound him in any considerable way.

No, this isn't a Stunning Effect - this is the Brawler's Knockout ability (and is a 1/day at this level).

Rikkan didn't feel comfortably trying to bomb the large brawler without hurting one of his friends. He delays until the others take their actions, but afterwards, he pulls his knife and moves to melee, hoping to provide flanking if nothing else.

Locke delays

Deflecting both of Illonna and Zoreck's attacks with his arms, the muscled fighter continues to crash into Illonna... using the lower pair of arms to defend himself, he uses his mechanically enhanced upper arms - creaking and hissing as pneumatic cylinders beneath the flesh flex - to land two vicious blows upon the one-armed paladin...

Veelan, Slam / Flurry of Blows vs Illonna: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29, hitting for 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Locking his gaze with the four-armed brute, Zoreck sneers, "You will live to regret that." Ignoring the opening afforded by Rikkan, Zoreck quips, "I've got this!" and presses the attack regardless.

Rikkan—No offense intended: Zoreck has the Paranioid drawback; you need a 15 on Aid Another to assist him. I took the liberty of moving Rikkan in to the combat, standing over Ilonna's prone body. Zoreck will move into a flanking position next round if this guy is still up.

”Coin!!! We could pay in coin if you were to let him live… Veelan was dealing in esoteric crystals and was due to make a big sale – we could cut you in on that?” When that elicits little response, the sorceress further suggests, ”Limbjacking… there aren’t many such facilities on Argosa but Veelan could put you in touch with someone who could help… her”, she point to the prone form of Illonna – her missing arm all too obvious from the position that she has fallen into…

"He won't fight... not now you've beaten him once. One thing he's got over you Avaar folk is that he is honourable... and coin? Well you'll need him alive so he can push those crystals on... then you get paid".

Unsure if the sorceress was being honest here Drancis decides to take her at face value. "Very well. Know this...if there is any treachery then BOTH of you will die. As you have seen now I am perfectly capable of backing up my threat!"

He then bends down and gently forces a healing potion down Illonna's throat, before doing the same for Veelan.

Yeahhh, I thought Veelan needed to be revived to consciousness but leaving him unconscious would work just as well.
GM Zed: Could Drancis retcon his actions to do a Heal check on Veelan, instead of using his potion on him? Heal (Stabilize): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22


Yep, no worries with the RetCon.

As Illonna is healed - the potion slipping down her throat like some magical nectar, Drancis cautiously staunches Veelan's wounds... careful to avoid bringing the dangerous fighter fully back to consciousness...

That way, you won't get paid a visit by the next Avaar enforcement team... who will be a lot less forgiving than we are."

Drancis chimes him, a dangerous look in his eyes. "I would strongly advise you to accept our terms. My patience wears thin."

The friends take good care to ensure that Veelan is securely tied before Illonna finally raises him to consciousness... his eyes flicker open with a start as he strains at his bonds, "What... hey, lemme outta..." his struggles quickly subside as he takes in the situation. Kneeling down next to him, the sorceress (who introduces herself as Laystra) tells the brawler that she has negotiated for their safety in return for a percentage of the sale of Veelan's crystals... and that she had suggested that the four-armed fighter could point Illonna in the direction of someone who could 'Limbjack' her a replacement arm...

It takes a while but eventually Veelan begrudgingly accepts that he will have to share some of his profits with 'the damned Avaar', "So, you gonna let me out or what?"

Laystra was correct, Veelan will not - having been fairly defeated once - fight again.

Zoreck reloads his gun and then points it at the sorceress and four-armed fighter. "Go ahead and untie him. But no false moves, you two!"

When it becomes apparent that Veelan isn't going to lunge at them again, Zoreck lowers his weapon. He does not holster it.

Laystra, heeding the concern from Zoreck and Illonna, hisses to Veelan that there must be no 'funny business' as she gingerly unties him. Nodding his head in agreement, he stands and flexes his arms... the lower set - cybernetic transplants, clanking and hissing with the damage caused during the fight. "It was... a fair fight and I thank you for sparing mine and Laystra's life".

As he talks, Veelan moves towards the bed in the room... and reaching beneath it, pulls out an iron strongbox. Opening it, a soft glow fills the room - contained within are 13 white and iridescent crystals which belie identification through standard gemology.

Knowledge (arcana) DC20:
The crystals have a latent psychic reactivity which make them useful as materials used in the crafting of occult objects... making them worth somewhere in excess of 2,000 gp.

"I am meeting someone in the Toiler's Square tomorrow... Half of the profit is yours for sparing our lives", and then turning to Illonna, "And I can put you in touch with a quality limb-jacker if you want to repair... I can vouch for the quality of his work".

Happy to move on from this when you folks are done with the Daytaar Coterie guys... basically it's 'Message Delivered' from the perspective of the Avaar Coterie and you've earnt the information that'll move you towards Lomrick.

Veelan bristles a little bit at the insinuation from Rikkan about the trustworthiness of the Daytaar Coterie, ”I am a man of my word… and the honour of Daytaar will be upheld. Meet me at the Bestiarium, say the intersection between Psuedopodia and Arachnids? tomorrow at noon… I will have made my sale and will pay my blood debt. Until then, I trust you will tell your Avaar paymasters that Daytaar presents no further risk to their operations… and they will keep their dogs at bay”.

There is little more to be said that can’t be addressed tomorrow when meeting Veelan… and so, making their way back into the daylight, the friends find Drill waiting for them, ”You did it? You let Daytaar know that Avaar aren’t to be messed with? And you don’t appear to be too bashed up”, his voice trails off when he sees Illonna’s wounds. ”Okay, you folks could probably do with resting up… if you head back to your digs, I’ll go and let Avaar know that you’ve kept your side of the bargain and see what they’ve got to say about this Lomrick character”.

Anything else you folks want to do (happy for you to improvise as needed) before I roll on to the next day and news from Avaar?

After returning from the Daytaar safe house, Drancis makes it over to Leticulas healing place where Andretta still lays in her coma. He spends most of the time just holding her hand and telling her of the adventures he has had so far. Even though she cannot hear him, it still does lighten his heart.

Once he has spent far more time here than he should, he motions for Astraea to come close. "Please take good care of her. I shall return here as quickly as I am able."

The rest of the day passed uneventfully, the group going their separate ways for the evening – a sign that they are growing more confident in the alien city – before reconvening in their accommodations near the fighting pits. Old habits die hard through and the group still maintain a watch through the night… somewhere out there, Lomrick lies in wait for the group and they have made enough noise / asked enough questions of enough folks that he surely knows that his specimens escaped Garsilt… and the friends are wise enough to presume that Lomrick may well be searching for them as they are for him…

…the next day comes with a dual sun rise, the bright sun of Becedar being followed into the heavens by the far-smaller Pulsar star of Palomb, and the promise of progress in the friends’ hunt for their abductor. With a certain degree of anticipation, the friends head towards their pre-arranged meeting place with Drill where, over a hearty breakfast, he talks in hushed tones, "My friends, your work for the Avaar has been well-appreciated and the Coterie has come through as they promised. They regret to inform you that they haven't been able to locate the Jagladine anywhere within Zel-Argose - he is keeping a very low profile if he is still here. However, there is something to be hopeful about - someone else is searching for him!!! Apparently Lomrick has overstepped the mark and kidnapped someone in the city, someone with important connections... there's a Jaskirri been assigned to rescue this person... the way I see it, if you can hook up with this Jaskirri, you're a damned sight closer to your quarry... the Avaar have arranged for her to be at the Weave Runner tonight - if you think it is worth following up, I can take you there?"
