Benlei pops back into consciousness to the roar of rushing air, her headscarf whipping back and forth in the wind. Glancing quickly around to get her bearings, she sees the heavily-armored man struggling to swim through the air and copies him, except more gracefully, moving between him and the special chest.

Consciousness hits Withal like a brick wall. Snapping awake, he lets out a surprised yelp as he tumbles trying to regain his bearings.

Making sure Telorast is still with them, he spots the chest containing their cargo. He attempts to swim towards it but gets his leg caught in the length of rope trailing from his waist and ends up turned around tumbling backwards.

Well that's about as bad as it could get. He technically off the map now, one square left of A4...

Telorast :
Telorast's screech is lost to the wind as the dinosaur plummets to the earth. Scared and without direction, he makes for his master as best he can.

His head spinning he remembers they still have a mission to complete. So tries to move toward the chest containing the artifact they were instructed to deliver.

I've noticed that you are not flying as far as you could. You can move 10ft per move action if you make your fly check. That is taking into account the "difficult terrain". Sorry if it wasn't clear.

For Benlei:

For Withal:
You estimate that you have 4 rounds before you crash into the ground. Go ahead and stay on the map, and start from A4 next round.

For Dina:

Joriah, the tiefling, has stopped tumbling, but his body is doubled over with arms and legs pointed straight up flapping in the wind with his robes.

Dina swings furiously at the warrior, but doing so puts her off balance and she tumbles away gently and harmlessly.

The warrior in a fury steadies himself and makes for the chest once more.

But it's no use. The plate armor greatly interfering with his flying causes him to tumble toward Dina, bumping into her. She swings at him knocking him nearly back into the place he started. Dina, Gain an attack of opportunity as he floats near you.

With Telorast now next to him, Withal is able to reach out and grasp his companion's tail to steady himself. Stabilized, he pulls himself past Telorast and makes for the chest again, shouting to Tel before he is out of range, "Tel, Heel!"

Lyoto continues to make a beeline for the chest. He prays that since the trap was already triggered, it won't explode again. With any luck, he'll be able to recover the artifact inside and give the team some hope that it can complete its mission.

Not sure if Dina's allies want to question this man she will attempt to save him from the fall by grappling him and then using the snapleaf.

Benlei's scimitar becomes a blur of silver. The sharp blade slices right through the warriors plate armor and streams of blood begin floating upward from half a dozen gashes in his back.

Immediately Dina is there, smashes into his mail clad body, arm wrapping around him in a grapple. He doesn't give any resistance, and as Dina looks into his eyes, they appear to roll back into his head. Dina squeezes pressing a corner of the mail into the snapleaf. She instantly disappears, and the man's body jerks upward.

Dina, make a strength check (DC 10) to keep hold of him.

Lyoto floats over to the chest with the grace of a dragon in flight. Thankfully, it does not explode as he touches the latch, but frustratingly, it is a stout box, and still looks to be locked.

Just as this happens, the Tiefling begins to move. He flails his arms in a fashion that can only mean one thing, magic.

But nothing seems to happen. The shock and disorientation of the fall must have interfered with his spellcasting.

Benlei moves her way through the air, arriving at the chest (H3). She shouts to Lyoto. "WE NEED TO SAVE IT. USE YOUR SNAPLEAF. I'LL USE MINE!" She grabs it and crushes her snapleaf.

Seeing Benlei and Lyoto with the chest, Withal turns his attention to the fast approaching ground. Reaching over, he grasps the snapleaf around Telorast's neck, crushing it in his fist, "Sorry buddy! See you on the ground!"

As Telorast Vanishes from sight, he makes for the nearby wizard.

Since Lyoto isn't sure how long he has until impact, so he listens to Benlei without a second thought and bites his snapleaf. He can't see Benlei since they're now both invisible, but he hears heard loud and clear.

Good idea! now lets get this thing open!

If her strength check succeeds Lyoto will examine the Box.

If Benlei's Strength check doesn't pry open the chest:
Lyoto, now feeling less worried that he'll splat into a puddle, takes the saw out of his belt loop and begins to saw open the chest.

Holding on tightly to the warrior Dina begins to descend slowly to the ground hoping this leaf last long enough.
Sorry mage guy over there. I can't grab you both.

Current fall distance is 2976 feet at the start of round 4. After this round it will be 4176 feet. We will hit the ground after about 7800 feet of falling. That's a fun dice roll of 780d6. LOL the system maxes at 100 dice per roll.... This also means we have 60 rounds of feather falling to do.... This is all assuming Contentious GM gave accurate number of rounds to the ground. This is info from a dnd 3.5 FAQ Pathfinder doesn't have such info but its assumed to be similar.


All but Withal and the Tiefling have begun floating to the ground. Now you are nearer and can tell that your estimations may have been off a bit earlier. It looks as though you are still about 2400 ft above the ground. You definitely had two more rounds left before you hit dirt. I gave you a more accurate time if your perception check was sufficiently high :) You also notice that you are happily descending onto land a few miles outside of Absalom, and a few hundred yards from the beach. Those floating now can see that they will have about 40 rounds or 4 minutes before they hit they touch down.

Withal, the tiefling seems to be staring intently at the ground. As though readying and action. You can see that you must your snapleaf soon. If not used by the end of round 6, you will most assuredly splat. But if you time it just right, you can snap it only seconds before you hit. Though that might put you on the ground with the tiefling alone for some length of time.

What happens next:
Round 5 of falling starts (round 6 will be the last round of falling)
Withal plummets as long as he dares.
The rest of the party floats gently and invisibly to the surface. Dina manages to keep hold of the unconscious warrior.
Lyoto and Benlei, working together, manage to open saw open the chest without blowing themselves up. Inside they find an oval mirror about a 20 inches long and a foot wide. It seems to be a fairly fragile mirror, one that seems like it would not have survived smashing to the ground. It has delicate gold inlays and a number of gems set around the frame.

When Withal decides what his action will be, we can find out if there will be any more fight left in the Tiefling.

Withal attempts to close with the tiefling but the debris and turbulence prove too much. Frustrated, he grasps the snapleaf and breaks it, beginning his slow descent.

Lyoto, you are able to push off and glide upward from it. You will now land one round later than them. Not that it really matters all that much. The Tiefling seemed to pop featherfall just before hitting the ground, and has scampered away into a nearby grove of trees. The rest of you happily descend to the ground. The only thing visible is the chest and the warrior. Strewn about are the remains of the airship and shattered chests. Several lengths of rope lay about, and you find a few shards of glass that were once cure light wound potions. The warrior is still unconscious. The Tiefling is nowhere to be seen. There is an east-west road leading into the city on the other side of the grove of trees to the north.

Withal lands shortly after the others, moving quickly to check on Telorast, "Is everyone else alright?"

Satisfied that Tel is still in one piece, the inquisitor moves quickly to help Dina secure the fighter. Snatching a length of rope from the wreckage, he sets to tying him up.

"Seems the tiefling made it too. Do we go after him or make a beeline for the town? Either way, with our luck, we're likely going to need to deal with him before this is over..."

Whistling for Tel, he touches the engraved flask at his waist, touching first his own breast and second the rough neck of Telorast, "A fall like that deserves a little divine patronage, no? Now get off your ass, oh great lush."

You have about one minute left of invisibility before it wears off. As far as you can tell the Tiefling is still in the trees about 50 feet away. It will only take a round or two to reach the edge. The blob of trees is roughly a circular shape about 200 feet across. On the far side lies the road. Beyond that, fields. You can also tell that it would be about a 20 minute walk from where you are to the gates of Absalom.

The warrior laying in a heap on the ground seems to be stable. A quick search reveals a potion of Cure Light Wounds, a masterwork dagger, his great sword, and a way finder. The full plate armor is securely fastened, and you can tell it would take at least two minutes to remove it.

Benlei lands, falling to her knees and hugging the dirt. "Next time a job requires flying, I will pass!" She rewraps her headscarf, once again covering her fiery hair.

"Do we really need to pursue the wizard? We have what was in the chest, and Absalom is close. From there, it should be easy to meet up with the halfling, and we've proven capable of defending the mirror. I doubt we will run into more trouble on our journey."

If you want to go after him, I'm game. If not, that's fine too.

We aren't delivering this to Absalom though. We're delivering it to fish merchants in Diobel Lyoto whispers.

We don't have much time, so here's what I suggest. Dina, guard the mirror and the warrior. The rest of us should capture/kill that Tiefling while he still can't see us. lets go.

Withal shrugs before realizing the futility of such a gesture. He instead speaks in the direction of Lyoto's voice, "Seconded. If we're quick we can still get the drop on our abyss-touched friend. I'd rather not have him snapping at our heels all the way to Diobel."

Just as you decide to go after the Tiefling, you see him emerge from the woods creeping closer to where you are. Waiting at the edge of the woods, he must have thought you fled, and is now coming back to see to his friend.

You feel the air suddenly get a bit chillier as a dark swirl of energy coalesces around the Tiefling's hand. He lunges forward and strikes at Benlei!
Touch attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
If you are hit, Benlei, you are paralyzed for: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 rounds. If you are hit, everyone within 10ft must make Fortitude saves of DC 16 or be sickened for the round. (ghoul touch)

Then the tiefling jumps back out of harms way.

As the tiefling steps back, Withal calls out in a commanding tone, "Tel! Flank!"

Moving wide of his opponent to avoid his enchanted touch, Withal slips around the mage with deceptively light steps and thrusts savagely with his rapier to call attention away from Tel's own attack.

Move to D-1 I guess it would be? Just off of the top of the map.

At Withal's command, Tel slips into a flanking position and snaps at the mage.

I never anticipated a melee touch attack. If you'll allow it, this is an immediate action from last round, in response to that.

As the tiefling tries to touch Benlei with his fist of darkness, she brings the flat of her blade down on his wrist, throwing off his attack. In the same motion, she whirls around, slashing viciously at his chest.

Seeing that the Tiefling has already summoned dark magic, survived a fall and nearly escaped once. Lyoto decides it's time to try and keep the Tiefling in place.

he takes a jab step forward then lunges to grab the Tiefling. (Eating and AOO in the process I suppose).

Watching the fight unfold makes Dina want to follow. Unable to resist she positions to charge. Back and forth her eyes go between the tiefling and the chest. Thinking to herself, "money or a fight, money or a fight...." Easing up she decides to guard the chest. Dina does not want the party to be upset with her if she left the cargo unprotected, and goes back to being ready to strike if anyone tries to take the loot.

I really do want to go fight but i don't want to risk the loot and mission.

Annoyed at his attack being so easily knocked away, he mutters something under his breath about "thrice cursed swashbucklers". Just then a new wound sprouts from his chest from Benlei's sword. Somehow in the confusion, he is able to just dodge out of the way of Withal and Telorast's attacks.

Seeing the Nagaji lunge toward him, the tiefling siffens his arms in defense. touch attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Lyoto rushes past and grapples him in a powerful embrace. But just then a surge of magic emanates from the tieflings body and engulfs both bodies. The charge from the previous spell was still clinging to his body, and the grapple attack just activated it. Lyoto's body instantly stiffens forming a living, though petrified prison around the tiefling. per the rules of held charges, I'm ruling that the grapple attempt would trigger and discharge the touch spell.

An acrid stench flows out from the two. fort saves from above But it looks like this caster will not be able to do much casting for the next several moments.

well you guys can make your fort saves, but now he's grappled by a stone lizard. He shouldn't be too hard to hit.

ill use this for my action this turn but i have to charge to C3 instead.
