I don't see why we use the map if you're going to decide what rules for combat we use and which we sort of use. You want to think about how rules would work in reality when they've already done it (and simplified them) for you.
As for the pariah thing, that's your own perception. I'm trying to save a character you want us to save. The whole point of chasing someone is to stop them. The whole reason I took that step was to get my AoO on that person. I don't see how playing the game how you want us to is being a pariah. Because I set myself up for an AoO? I'm just hoping to kill a mofo before they get the chance to get away and hopefully before they can attack me. Reckless? Maybe. Pariah? No sir. I'm starting to develop my characters personality, I see him as a little arrogant when it comes to combat. He's been training his whole life for this maybe he's a bit too excited.

@Corinne: I went ahead and moved Corinne and had her take an appropriate action that somewhat simulates her "not doing anything" this round.
@Stavo: It is now Xulgag's turn, but you will need to take your AoO on Wekel first if you plan to do so. He will be 5 squares away from you on this turn whether you take the attack or not (assuming he survives) since he will still complete his move.

Wow...two 4s in a row? I think that's the first time I have seen the dice command throw up two of the same number in a row. Of course it is d20 instead of d100, so I guess the chances go up for that sort of thing.
Sorry to see all the misses, Xulgag. :/
+1 RC for Chimera'Paw though. I like the name, and I hope we see more of it.

Coming around the horn again! Pretty convenient that all the NPC or GM controlled characters happen to be acting pretty much one right after another, lol.
So next up is Ragnar, Corinne, and Xulgag. Of course Thelan may take his action anytime, so I still have a card to play in the meantime. Mwahahaha!

Annnnnnnd in celebration of Ragnar's ridiculous ability to one-shot all of the bad guys so far:
+1 RC!!
Thanks for sticking with it!

So today wasn't a very good day for posting. Sorry guys. I will try to get the map together. But it may wait until after work tomorrow. I am willing to offer RCs while you wait for me for some in-character posts similar to the little "backstory" post Corinne made about Arielle's knife. They don't have to be in the past. Just what you're characters are thinking and stuff.
So that being said. +1 RC Corinne!

Good morning, players! So I admit that a combination of business and laziness caused me to not get the map ready this weekend. The Princess had a small food choking incident on Friday, but she is just fine now. Also the Draw Something app was consuming an inordinate amount of my attention for a while as I laid down with her in order to help her take her mind off of how much her chest and throat hurt. As a way to distract someone, I can only say that app was worth the $.99 I spent, heh.
Naturally, I don't have the materials with me to set and up and photograph the map with me at work, So I promise I will do it after my wonderful wife forces me to workout today. She likes to help me set the map up, so you can be assured it will get done today.
@Ragnar: Nice bit of writing, sir. I really enjoyed that moment of insight into his thinking and find it interesting that you referred to his growing bloodlust as his "reptilian" brain. +1 RC of course!

@Corinne: Thank you for your understanding! I cannot tell you how heartily I wish Skyrim could be played multi-player co-op. I would probably buy it for every system I own, so I could play together with each of you, lol. Could you imagine an MMO that didn't restrict you on class of any kind? You were able to decide how your character AND party took out foes together? That would rock so hard.
On another note, it occurred to me that Arielle has no way to access the RCs and as a result the RC rewards. I was thinking about this since I was planning to tell you that I created that system for 3 reasons:
- Reward you for excellent roleplay
- Allow advancement in ways not tied to XP and leveling in order to more or less stay on track with the AP
- Allow me to ramp up difficulty to a higher level of lethality which I think we all truly desire as we come from a rather hardcore system in WFRP
So I propose this then. When any of you think Arielle or any other major NPC (such as Grub the Halfling/ranger guide who has not yet made an appearance) has had an inspired story moment, feel free to let me know. I will then assign an RC to their sheets for use. :D
Incidentally, if any of you can think of something you would like to see on the RC reward table, please feel free to suggest it, and I will write it up in game terms and assign a value.

SKYRIM co-op would be so amazing and fun. It would be a lot like diablo, where you team up with friends and sack dungeons and kill monsters. You can then translate any loot you get to your single player experience. I'd love to see something like that happen in the future. World of Warcraft and standard MMO's are just too time consuming, but with Skyrim, I'm able to play when I want and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything or neglecting the game or life by playing/not playing.
I'm playing a Dark Elf Archery assassin with conjuring. She uses the summoned bow and kicks the crap outta people. Plus, I'm really good with the bow. I've pulled off some stunning shots I have to say! She just signed on with the Dark Brotherhood, who I plan to take all their missions and quests, and then (as is fitting the theme of an assasin), I'll execute each of them when they no longer server my purposes ;)
Re: Game
I like the idea of us being able to assign RC points to your characters. Good thinking.

Corinne...I sent you this on FB trying to get your attention, but I don't think I was successful. From where you are on the map, you cannot see the kidnapper. You will need to move in order to shoot either him or the archer. Also, since the kidnapper is technically 'grappled' you are considered to be shooting in melee. Just trying to let you know, in case you want to edit and change your post as this information might change your action. Are you having trouble looking at the maps?

Spirit of Pinvendor |

Preview battle is almost over! We're approaching the moment when my planned deus ex machina will save the hapless bandits from the bloodthirsty and overpowering heroes thus adding to the mystery of young Orphan Arielle.
Wait. Did I say "save"? Hmmm...maybe I need to go back and check my notes again.
:P

Spirit of Pinvendor |

You guys need to check this thread out immediately!
I completely think we should join this game. Paranoid roleplaying for the sake of paranoid roleplaying and no other reason??
We could pwn this hard!
And in no way would this be an interruption of our current game. I expect (think demand) we continue our game simultaneously naturally.

Spirit of Pinvendor |

Interesting...our first real combat fumble. Hmmm...I admit some hesitation as to whether we should allow the re-roll for those...hmmm. Thoughts?
Regardless of the discussion here, ODV's reroll will stand since this hasn't been discussed before. But going forward, should we allow RCs to be used on natural 1s?

Spirit of Pinvendor |

Despite how much nicer that would be for players, there is no "fumble confirming" rule in 3.5 (Weblink for SRD entry here). It's just like rolling an '01' or a '100' in WFRP: auto-success & auto-failure. Difference is just d20 does it on natural 20 and natural 1.
We always used to play that fumbles couldn't be changed with fortune points or ordinary re-rolls. I am thinking maybe it should cost more RCs to override a fumble. That seems like it might be more fair.

OneDrunkViking |

Really? Don't you have to confirm criticals on a 20? No you do. Nwvermind that then. A 1 is always a miss, but for it to be a "FUMBLE" it has to miss again I believe, otherwise it's just a miss nothing worse. (A fumble in my mind means dropping weapon, injuring self etc) The idea being if you have a massive +14 to hit yet still manage to roll that 1 you missed te attack however slightly.
So let's jut be specific on what a fumble is then?
Warhammer fumbles =/= d20 roll of 1. They are much worse.
If a 1 is just an auto miss I think it can be allowed to reroll. RC's are pretty hefty price anyways. If they have the chance of being a FUMBLE then I would agree, raise cost or no rerolls.
Thoughts?

Spirit of Pinvendor |

Interesting, now that I investigate, I can't find the term fumble anywhere in the Core Rules...I even did a search on the PRD and couldn't find any mention of the word "fumble" as a rules condition... I would have sworn I read something about it.
Which is ironic since Paizo sells this product for use with Pathfinder.
And as contradictory evidence to your statement that a natural 1 is not a fumble like WFRP's rules consider the following:
96, 97, 98, 99, 100 are all fumble numbers. Five digits out of 100 = 5%
1/20 = 5%
Technically they are the same. There just happens to be no PFRPG mechanics which make an automatic miss a fumble.
So I guess you can just use an RC...

OneDrunkViking |

I know the number wise a 1 and the 5% on a d100 are the same I just meant that in this game they are not treated as such. Which I knew! I believe fumbles have always been an optional rule to make the game more lethal, which I am FOR.
So, if we wanna home brew fumbles in I'd be glad to allow 1's not to be rerollable, otherwise meh, it's just an auto miss.

Stavo Warpblood |

We're also not playing Warhammer anymore. I thought the whole point was not to die right away and have a chance. If it takes two weeks to resolve every combat scenario ON TOP of no win situations and warhammer style fumbles I'll just cut my losses now and play Skyrim too. This style takes WAY too long to have characters getting f!**ed up because of one bad roll. Since we can't find anything on fumbles besides a 1 being an automatic failure let's just keep it like it is.
