Thank you for the Roleplay Credit. I shall record it and use it wisely. Just finished reading the story and my intro. Very good stuff! I'll do my best to get a grasp on the rules, but please offer suggestions on things I could be doing with various skills/attributes until I get the hang of things.

Drach, for attempting to shoot your crossbow at one of them you'll roll a d20 and need to hit the kidnappers AC. You don't know the AC of them so you need to just give a roll and wait for pinvendor to determine whether you hit or not. I would go ahead and roll damage at the same time to speed up the exchange, also so pinvendor can react accordingly!
Also, both Ragnar's and Corine's Spoilers have urls links. Can you find them?
I had to go back and take a look and I did indeed find the necklace one. That sure is pretty. Must Ragnar wear it or can he hold on to it in his gear?

Spirit of Pinvendor |

@ODV: No, Ragnar doesn't have to choose to wear it, but if it has any properties other than just being pretty, they won't take effect unless he is.
As far as the combat is concerned, I will have some things up about it shortly, but I am hoping to see a post from Xulgag before I get too far into anything.

RE: POSTING
Being the weekend and all I'm sure things will be slow, but it's all good. I'm glad to see the game finally take off. Ironically, the weekend doesn't effect my posting speed. I just go into limbo between 9pm to 5am as I step into an alternate naked lady reality :)

So initiative is 1d20 + Dex and any other initiative modifiers you have. Roll it and then decide what you are going to do. The ruffians have technically already gone this round for the sake of convenience and letting you decide how you want to continue without being interrupted this round.
Just remember they are running away, so it's up to you to follow after...or you can leave the girl to her fate. :_(

OneDrunkViking |

I had meant all initiatives for your NPC's and us 3 players, that way we can see who we need to wait to post before us etc. As it is one of the enemies has a 20 (seriously though all of them took improved initiative? haha) and should go before I get to make any more actions.
My first turn was getting off horse and drawing weapons, now have to wait for Xul and your guys to go.

Spirit of Pinvendor |

My thought, ODV, was that their action was to run away since if you and Xul hadn't been coming down the road, the ruffians may have lingered or done other things. That was why I wasn't too concerned with initiative until you, Xulgag, and Corinne had had a chance to speak a few lines and indicate your initial action.
By the by, did you see your spoiler, ODV? You don't have to change your action, but I did want to make sure you had a chance to notice.

And thanks, Corinne! I have been map and tile crazy this last month, lol. I have so many flip mats and map tiles from Paizo's Gamemastery line, plus some D&D 4E map tiles (which are super useful by the way), that I have been waiting for an opportunity to use them, lol. Another nice things is that within KM: Stolen Lands, Paizo actually intentionally used a flip map they produced which will make that set up really easy as I own it! :-D
I am not necessarily going to be super, "every square has to be accounted for!" but since flanking and Attacks of Opportunities and other range limited maneuvers are dependent on keeping track of this stuff, I figured having the maps to indicate initial positions would be a good idea, and I will probably refresh the images once significant adjustments have been made like engaging melee or what have you.
As this is a preview battle, don't worry about this being an endless chase into the wilderness. The ruffians have a destination in mind.

As far as the little paper minis, there are some more I am planning to buy, there's one in particular which I am hoping the art for will really fit Corinne, but we shall see if it is good enough, heh. There's an orc pack which includes some orc monks which I am hoping will give me a good Xulgag. Ragnar and Arielle are the ones I am going to have to do a little hunting for.

Spirit of Pinvendor |

I have now but I hadn't seen it before I asked.
So you mean (dice=Awesome roll incoming!!!)13d33000(/dice)?
Awesome roll incoming!!!: 13d1001 ⇒ (838, 532, 824, 742, 369, 44, 800, 458, 891, 931, 320, 386, 409) = 7544
Yup there it is! Looks like you can't go over 1001 die? lol
Also, I love how your "Boners" attack roll was a perfect success, lol. I guess once again Sir Knight impales Maiden on his sword, heh heh heh.

It's completely simple. You can move up to 6 squares as a move action. You may make one move action and one standard action (plus immediate, free, and swift actions if you have any) OR you may take two move actions. If there is an obstacle in your way (largish stone, mud, fallen log, etc.) moving through that square costs you one extra square of your move as you avoid/jump over/flip over/teleport through the obstacle.
So if Corinne can move 6 squares and stabbity someone, then that would be a move plus a standard. If she is more interested in trying to catch up to Girl Snatcher, then she could just make two move actions, but consider if she moves into or through a square threatened by any of the ruffians during any part of that move, they would get an attack of opportunity on her as she goes by (albeit a clumsy one). You also lose your Dex bonus to AC when running since you aren't dodging...you're running.
EDIT: Ninja'd by a drunk viking??

Corinne the Chroniker |

I'm kinda having a hard time figuring out which kidnapper is which. Perhaps MS Paint or Photoshop to label them in the future? Unless I missed something. At this point Corinne is charging the kidnapper she can get to, the man trailing at the end. I wasn't sure if it was he who had Arielle or not. But for sake of learning combat, there you have it :)

Spirit of Pinvendor |

Not all of us are super savvy with the photoshop! Or even own it. That damn program ain't cheap!!
They are mostly left to right with the exception of Fat boy and girl snatcher who are on the far right one on top of the other. Fat boy is (Surprise!) the fat looking mini on top and girl snatcher is below. Refold is the closest one to you and the ugly one is the one up and to Refold's right.
Also consider that the squares threatened include diagonal squares. This means passing through a diagonal to reach a "direct side" would provoke an attack of opportunity.

Corinne the Chroniker |

Yea, Photoshop is expensive, though standard paint programs should be able to import pictures and you can type over them. But if that's too much work, no worries. Just a suggestion :)
So it looks like I'm taking a stab at Refold, which is fitting I think considering he's the one that tried to rape Corinne!
I think her logic is that if she can bring one of the men down, the others will turn back, or in the least she can find out where they are heading. That and slow them down until Ragnar and Xulgag can reach them.

Spirit of Pinvendor |

Logic? Lol, I doubt there is even any need to explain why Corinne would run up and stab this man. Barring what "might" have happened to her, one of these douches just threw Corinne on the ground and then one snatched Arielle. I pretty much assume stabbity is a pretty natural response at this point.

Spirit of Pinvendor |

And I can try to use Paint to do something. I tried to use it to do the Charter all pretty, but then it started creating white patches that hid the nifty parchment look...and I got frustrated and just copied the text into a spoiler, lol.
I am actually considering buying the Adobe suite which would get me Acrobat and Photoshop, so I may have image and pdf alteration wizardry at my fingertips very soon.

Spirit of Pinvendor |

Just in case no one has managed to count the squares, Xulgag can reach Refold in 4 squares no obstacles and since Ragnar has dismounted which means he is now one square further to the right, he can reach Refold in 5-6 both this turn of course.
Just throwing that out there since I know the little white crosses are sometimes hard to see unless you blow up the image.
