Hazel Stokes
"Much better Vala - thanks," Hazel grins as the worst of her injuries mend thanks to her friend's healing touch. As they take care of business outside and begin moving into the gatehouse, Hazel nods as the goblins share their own side of things.
"I'd say just let 'em go," Hazel shrugs. "We're far enough out that I don't think they'll be a bother to anyone. As for the the tunic, I have no idea. Maybe Vala or Constantin would know?"

Loot sheet updated!
Vermundr
Vermundr harrumphs and glowers at the goblins. "Goblins are pests but I suppose there's nobody around here for them to threaten. Alright Hazel. Get out of here you two."
Vermundr
Oh, definitely.
"Hold on a minute you rat. Where'd you get this thing from?"
Constantin Ionescu
I know it's regenerating but I need time to spin up detect thoughts to the point where I can see if there's anything else rattling around in its noggin that it isn't telling me. ;)
Given the opportunity Constantin wants to root around to make sure he's not missing anything and that the troll isn't lying about whether there are others of its kind in the vicinity. Once done he'll finish with the comment below.
Basically ready to move on, sorry for holding things up!
Zed Ulmin
Zed gives the troll next to him one more crack, then makes his way down and looms silently over the interrogated ones. He doesn't have anything to add, but he knows he can be an unsettling presence.

Not holding things up at all :)
Th Troll shakes it's head from side to side. I never saw no oomans going nor going.
After that it gratefully follows Constantin's suggestion and continues to flee down the cliff path as it had originally intended.
GM-JZ
As Constantin continues to focus on interrogating the troll, Hazel keeps her attention on the two goblins. "Do you remember what any of the pe...er, longshanks looked like? Or how many there were?" she asks.
The male goblin looks at the female, shrugs and then looks back at Hazel.
All longshanks look the same. it says as if stating a fact. Theys dressed in black.
Don't forget you have a knowledge nobility on the uniform
Meanwhile Kazamir takes a look at the staff that Vermundr retrieved. He turns it end over end and then makes a determination that it is a Staff of Swarming Insects
Hazel Stokes
Though Hazel really doesn't have much idea about Ustalav's history or its nobility, she tries to recall if she'd ever seen or heard of anything that fits the tunic's description...
Kn. Nobility (Untrained): 1d20 ⇒ 12
_________
Hazel isn't trained in Kn. Nobility or Local but if a DC 10 gets her anything useful, well... :)
Kazamir Rhuul
Hmmm...might be useful, this. Vala might make the best use of it, I should think," Kaz says, indicating the staff.
know/nob: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
"I can't say that the uniform looks familiar, though."
When the troll rumbles off, Kazamir nods to Constantin. "Well done," he says quietly.
Thanks for carrying me for a bit, team. I should have a little more time before chaos starts again...we are selling our house and buying another, all while juggling an eight-month-old future gamer...
Hazel Stokes
"Hey no, that's still pretty helpful," Hazel quickly assures her companion. "That seems to more or less match up with what the little goblins had to say. Seems like someone else got here first and left just in time for the goblins and trolls to wander up. The little guy there said they were all dressed in black," she explains.
Vermundr
Vermundr cocks a bushy brow at his companions.
"Who's this Whispering Way? It sounds like Bland's father might be working with them."
Kazamir Rhuul
"The Whispering Way is the blasphemous, undead-obsessed cult that gave rise to Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant and scourge of Ustalav. WE have reason to believe that they are behind the death of Kendra's father, professor Petros Lorrimor, and have a plan in operation beyond that. I have begun to suspect that they used Bland for a theft of something from the University at Lepistadt, and tried to have him burned to cover their tracks.
As to Bland's father working with them - I think it may be more likely that they wrested control of Bland from him. The bloodstains we see may be them doing yet more evil to cover their tracks again. I fear for the Count and Bland."
Hazel Stokes
"Right, so we'd better get in there and fast," Hazel responds, nodding towards the bridge. "Scary dog and whatever other nasties be damned!"
She looks at the goblins and then at the rest of her friends. "I can't think of anything else to ask, can you? If not, just let them go - we've got bigger fish to fry right now."
Vermundr
"Get out of here!" Vermundr shouts at the goblins while he mulls the information on the cult. "If this Whispering Way was truly the ones behind Bland's suffering I say we repay them. With blood."
Vermundr
Is it just a matter of physically moving stuff or is there some technical expertise needed? If it's the former Vermundr will get to work.
Zed Ulmin
If it's physically moving stuff Zed will assist Vermundr.
GM-JZ
Yeah this isn't a sophisticated barrier, just a bunch of stuff piled up so you can just take a few minutes to dismantle it
As you dismantle it you find a few bags of coins and gems that the troll apparently missed. Among the various sacks of plunder there is also 258gp and 345sp
With the gates cleared and opened, you see the magnificent view of the cascading waterfall and the impressive manse spreading out across the gorge. The manse is in fact a collection of buildings connected by several bridges the first of which is before you.
A wide stone bridge arches gracefully over a roaring waterfall, linking the gatehouse to a fortified manor house that clings to the cliff on the far side.
You see no creatures on the bridge. The bridge is so long, however and the arch so pronounced, that you cannot see the other side from here.
The bridge is 20 foot wide (with no handrails) and runs almost remarkably straight away from you.

Kaz
Vala
Constantin
Hazel
Sound good?
GM-JZ
Cool, well you can always arrange yourselves on the map actually anyway now
Having cleared the debris and opened the gates, the group creeps forward across the magnificent bridge. By the time they reach the centre where the arch is most pronounced, the noise of the waterfall is deafening as it cascades down the mountainside below the bridge.
Vermundr moves forward cautiously in a half crouch until he can see the large ornate double doors of the manse itself. They are a beautiful red oak with black cast iron hinges and handles. Unfortunately he is only dimly aware of any of that because before the doors is a massive hound, easily the size of a horse that sits on it's haunches calmly watching the warrior.
It is thickly muscular along the shoulders and chest but the colouration and thick wire stitching gives Vermundr the impression that is is more akin to the creature the party fought outside Volkstag and Grine's than anything else.
Zed Ulmin
Zed whistles at the creature to see if it reacts as he scans it to see if it's undead.
Vermundr
"I don't suppose one of you could just magic it off the bridge?" Vermundr asks as he lowers his weapon in expectation of battle.
If the smart folks aren't able to come up with a clever plan Vermundr is going to charge in and hack it to pieces.
Kazamir Rhuul
"If this is the castle of the creator of Brand, this creature is perhaps created by the Count - which would have certainly been hostile to the Trolls. However, seeing as it so similar to the horror we fought in the Chymic works, it could also be a creature left behind by the Whispering Way.
We might approach cautiously, to see if it warns us away - in which case I would guess that it was set by the Count. If it attacks directly, I would guess it to be a creature left by the Way.
Of course, in the course of finding out, we will have committed, if it does attack.
Could Kaz attmept a knowledge/arcana to see if he can tell if it is a magically animated golem or an alchemically animated one? if so:
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
GM-JZ
Kaz/Zed it is an alchemically created Flesh Golem hound. It is similar to the one in the Chymic factory but if that was created by Grine's rudimentary grasp of alchemy, this is a veritable work of art in comparison
In any case, it is completely unreactive to any whistling or other taunts etc
As the group nears to within 15 feet, a low growl emanates from within the throat of the hound, but somehow it sounds false, as if programmed to do so. If you inch back, the growling stops. Again, it is not moving a muscle toward you.
Zed Ulmin
"Mhmm. A construct to prevent anybody from crossing. Will probably have to take it out. I'll try to distract it." If the others are on board with the plan, Zed moves forward with his defensive style. He tries to stay right in the face of the construct so it focuses on him.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Damage: 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13/2 = 6
Current AC is 26.
Hazel Stokes
"Okay, so not dumb...just very uh...literal, I guess," Hazel sighs when it becomes clear that they have little choice but to progress forward and engage the hound. She nods as Zed adopts a defensive position. "I'll back you up too - just watch your footing, okay?"
Starknife in hand, Hazel moves up behind and to the left of Zed, hoping that they'll at least be able to provide a wall between the hound and their less-armored companions.
Attack (Starknife): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
