Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

Fire is inspired... if our host approves?"

Devil will stand by with a scavenged wall lantern, then think better, and pass it to anyone descending, and get another. "Fire reveal, fire conceal, fire to harm, and fire to heal...", he sings softly, waiting with his fire for the moment immanent.

Very well then, I will be waiting for you at the bottom of that trapdoor thing - I do not want to see an Hellknight head popping at the opening - With a wink she turns, and heads for the trapdoor, intent on descending it last, and waiting for Corellon at the bottom.

For Corellon:
While she runs towards the trapdoor behind the counter, Tessai passes over two fallen chairs, and the counter itself without even slowing a pace, with surprising swiftness... When she is on the other side, she smiles at you and then just disappears downwards and out of sight.

Activating Agile Feet - For 1r, you ignore difficult terrain. :D

Brandon takes out his wayfinder and activates its light ability before dropping down the hole.

"Come on everyone, they'll be through that door any second!"

Once he is in the sewer, he looks around within his circle of light, firstly for enemies and secondly for anything that could be used to block the trapdoor once everyone is through

Once Corellon sees the last person about to make their way down he will race to join them. He will throw a handful of caltrops on the floor in the area leading up to the trap door before he descends, closing the door behind him. To the extent that there is fire - he will attempt to place the caltrops in areas where there is or shouldn't be fire - ie - where there is not liquor to fuel it.

Kyle drops down the trapdoor with the others. If he feels the fire isn't going to take hold or be sufficient to hide their exit, he'll cast obscuring mist when Corellon is close enough to find the trapdoor in the mist.

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

Devil does not contest 'last place' with Corellon, but he does make certain both to avoid hazarding the man, and to ignite the puddled aperitifs around the trapdoor. Then, observing a magical light source below (and perhaps that first lantern?), Devil set his lantern aside, inverted, watching it trickle its fuel to join the liqueurs...

Dropping through the door enough to slam it, he thinks, {And now, you are an arsonist.}

After descending, Kyle casts light on his holy symbol before casting guidance on himself and his new companions. He explores their new surroundings.

Assuming he doesn't see anything untoward...

Brandon sets his wayfinder to one side and helps the remaining members of the group through the trapdoor. "Everyone ok? For now anyway." he adds under his breath.

Grand Lodge

As the party is going down, Janiven advises against fire. We're too close to other building. We don't want to harm others or destroy their residences with our escape. Help me to pull down these shelves. I also have a Tanglefoot bag to further slow them.

After quickly bringing down the room behind them, and insuring she's the last one out, she throws the bag on the floor, covering it with very sticky glue. She closes the trap door. It's quickly appearent that a light source is needed for those without darkvision.

I think we have two sources of light currently - Kyle's holy symbol and Brandon's wayfinder.

"If we need more light I could light my lantern? Janiven which way should we go?"

Being able to see in the dark, Tessai surveys the scene to get the exact bearings of where they are.

Where does this take us? He waits to confirm what he knows with what Janiven tells the group.

Ever practical, Tessai is still staring at the trapdoor above - Say Janiven... How common are these trapdoors anyway? Will those dogs search for it up there? For sure they will not believe we disappeared into thin air...

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

To Tessai, softly, in Infernal:

"Our eyes. Ahead, and behind. Which for you?"

(RETIRED) Human Alchemist 6 | HP 57 | AC 18 FF 16 T13 | Saves +7/+7/+6 (+4 disease, +2 poison) | Init + 2 | Percep +10

"Agreed. I think we need to move, now. Put some distance between us at least."

Grand Lodge

Janiven glances at Tessai. Common enough that they will most certainly find it. That is why we must move quicky. They might take a few minutes to search in the tavern, but some are going to follow us down here after they grab a lantern or make torches. They might even try to infiltrate the sewers ahead of us if they can guess our route. We need to keep moving. Janivan pushes open the doors and what started as a foul oder as you decended into the hallway quickly turns repungnent. Welcome to the sewers, Kyle.

After the party has walked through the door, she closes and bars it. That won't hold them for long.. She looks down around her feet, pushes a rock out of a hole in the wall, and pulls out a satchel. You hear glass clanking together. Good, it's still here.

She pulls out a number of familiar looking vials of healing potiions. She hands each person three of them. We put these here in case of such an emergency. I'm glad they didn't disppear. We won't have time to stop or rest with the Hellknights on our trail. Not to mention, we're only an hour or so away from sunset. The shadowbeasts stalk even the sewers. We do not want to get caught or worse. Let's get moving. This way.

Aside from the stinch, filthy sewage flows all around. You try your best not to step directly in it. As you walk, Janiven explains a few things. We have a hideout on the other side of town. We can get there through these sewers. She stairs at the wall for a moment, and points out a symbol etched in the wall, shaped like a sword. Its clearly faded somehwat with the passage of time. Arael and I made these marks a few months ago when we explored the sewers. We marked all the intersections so our people could find their way through the sewers to our hideout.”

As you continue to walk forward, she continues.

Each order of Hellknights has its own goals and oaths. By far, the Order of the Rack is the most ruthless. For the most part, we have been well beneath the notice of the other orders, government officials and the city watch. However, the Order of the Rack is obsessed with prevention of any sort of activity that even smells like rebellion. It would seem they have captured our leader, Ariel. She puts her hand on the lad. Morosino, I'm glad you escaped capture, but it would appear you were followed. You will need to be much more careful in the future. The teenager nods his head as he continue to follow her.

The party comes up on an intersection.

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

{And you're trusting all of us with this information?}, Devil thinks. {I suppose not everyone was raised to see a dinner fork as four small knives...} He assigns himself the duty of keeping Morosino in sight, hopefully without Morosino reading that intent.

Correllon takes the three vials handed to him, thanking Janiven, and draws his rapier (I assume that his lantern was not needed). He briskly follows in line with the others, "We should give some thought to our order as we progress, we'll likely have threats at the front and rear and a need for good eyes and sharp blades on each front."

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

"And at every intersection, left and right, as well. Tessai and I need no light. We could scout well ahead, now that we know the signs. Janiven must otherwise lead, and she needs light."

Hal draws his sword and wonder about how such a mass of people will be able to fight in these cramped quarters. He had heard of people traveling in the sewers before but never believed it. Now he just tries to keep up and discern what direction they are headed in.

Brandon carefully deposits the vials into his satchel. He takes out his own cure extract and places it in a loop on his belt for easy reach and strings the wayfinder around his neck.

Next he unhooks his morningstar and holds it loosely to his side.

"Devil, do you think it's a good idea to split up? As Janiven said they may already be ahead of us and I wouldn't want you to get isolated."

Turning to Tessai he says;

"I can't see in the dark but my eyes are sharp enough besides. Where do you want me? Errm... in a manner of speaking..." He mumbles the last part with a slight shake of his head. "You know what I mean."

Having gained enough distance, (he hopes), Devil then says very softly to Hal, "I don't trust the boy. He now has the sword sign. Watch, and if he tries to get away, he needs to not."

On my way home now, did I actually miss any posting period?

Maybe I should be closing the march instead - Tessai comments with Devil and the others - I am far too noisy, and we may need scouting at the front eventually - she adds clicking her heels together.

I ask because I can bless a person with twice the chance to hit and I don't think I want to brave frontline combat. Someone who'll stay back with me can benefit and I just want to know who to bless if I act first.

Something in what he'd said seemed to inspire Devil, for he hummed a bit, then sang:

Sung in Elven:

"The boy who came last,
And who brought the knights with
Now knows just how to find
Where we're going

So all guard well the lad
For one treasure we have
Could be stolen:
The secret he's knowing"

I'll stay back with Kyle and keep this end safe. Devil, take point with Beppo since there is space in this larger corridor. That ok with you?

Raising an eybrow at Beppo's comment, Tessai adds: Actually there is some debate on that Beppo - if my mother was either devil, demon or... something else... That makes me definitely spawn of something, which I intend to find out soon enough - I'll let you know first hand when I do - she finishes with a fanged smile.

When Hal hears Devil singing he loses his focus on the corridor and the danger he is in. That voice, it's the one I heard from the man burying the bodies by the riverside. And he knows this fellow, Brandon, who seems to be the one who eviscerated the cu-tpurses the other night. Either one of them could have lead the Hellknights to us! What kind of company have I gotten myself into?

Suddenly, the fact that Hal is running through raw sewage away from a company of Hellknights is not the most disturbing part of this day. He wants to know how much farther they must go but decides that silence is best for now.

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

Responding to Tessai, in what I think is chronological order:

After Beppo's 'devil-spawn'/'gifts', and Tessai's response.

"Devil, Demon, Angel, Man... we're all here in this sewer."

After Tessai suggests a swop of stations.

"Say that again? Slowly?", Devil asks. He shakes his head as she does. "No, sorry. What is that, Abyssal? Draw close enough to whisper, if you need..."

If the spoiler contents are whispered:

Devil whispers back, "When a pawn moves, guess at a king. When a purse is opened, watch for a thief. I think the king sent the thief, it's what I would do. Or do you believe the Rack, forgot, about the sewers?"

Taking his vanguard position, Devil says to Beppo, "It may be best I range ahead of the light, somewhat. I do not need direct support, and I will try to lead any hostiles to where I expect you, just behind any offered ambuscade. Fair?"

Tessai's overall sewer travelling tactics, as she closes the group, is to be on the lookout for the path behind. Every once in a while, she will stay back for a few yards, until the light fades slightly ahead, so that she can make sure that we are not being followed. Then she catches up with the group.
