Let's have some one roll for how many doors there are. Remember when Doors are identified, we add 30 feet to the current passageway.
So the four way intersection includes 30 feet of passageway, to start with, in each new direction, then two passages go another 60 feet beyond that, and the third has an additional 30 feet with one, two or three doors there

            # of Doors: 1d20 ⇒ 2
1 Door – on the left (1-6), on the right (7-12), or ahead (13-20). If ahead, the passageway ends
Where?: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Right then.
What type?: 1d20 ⇒ 15
A Strong Wooden, (locked 1-8, trapped 1-8)
Locked? Trapped?: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Not my job to know...

I can throw a Resist Energy on you to take away 10 points of fire damage. I've got a scroll and everything. Hopefully we can all use our waterskins to spray healing bubbles at you too, which would be awesome.

Even traps aside, you know what I'd have to roll to unlock that door? Higher than a 20.

Actually I have +15 on Disable, so it would need to be a 20. Plus I could get a bonus from Bless or guidance or something. That said, that DC is a bit higher than I would like.

Well, we did roll a 2 on this one, so it's basically the toughest trap we're likely to face on this level. If you guys want to go back up, I'm ok with it, but there are other spots to explore, we're at full health, and we can just walk away from this, so I'd like to see what else there is on level 5 before we go back upstairs. Then again, I'd also like to get Teirist his special loot.

So, I could summon a Lemure devil, which is immune to fire, and could basically beat on the door for 6 rounds. Would that get us through the door? I don't know. Would it be fun? Not particularly. Let's skip the door.
next periodic check: 1d20 ⇒ 15
A chamber!
The chamber is...: 1d20 ⇒ 20
On the left, right, and ahead! Passage ends!
left chamber size: 1d20 ⇒ 7 30x 40
left chamber contents: 1d20 ⇒ 10 monster only
right chamber size: 1d20 ⇒ 9 40 x 50
right chamber contents: 1d20 ⇒ 13 monster only
ahead chamber size: 1d20 ⇒ 8 40 x 50
ahead chamber contents: 1d20 ⇒ 17 a monster and a treasure
I'll let someone else roll the monsters. We may be in for a world of hurt.

Assuming we are going from Table VIII
Monster mash Left chamber: 1d20 ⇒ 2 - CR = APL + 2 Table 2
Monster Mash Right Chamber: 1d20 ⇒ 8 -CR = APL + 1 Table 2
Monster Mash Ahead: 1d20 ⇒ 8 - CR = APL + 1 Table 2
Moving to VIII.A.2.Monster Type :)...
Monster mash Left chamber: 1d100 ⇒ 98 - Roll Again?
Monster Mash Left chamber II: 1d100 ⇒ 19 - Animal (group)
Monster Mash Right Chamber: 1d100 ⇒ 16 - Animal (group)
Monster Mash Ahead: 1d100 ⇒ 37 - Humanoid Monster (group)
Is that right? I need a drink...or someone to check that I rolled on the right tables :)

| Terquem |
Thanks Guys! Oh, and thank you Ballar for pointing out a part of the Monster tables that could be confusing (and I will clarify this in Revision 6)
Roll once to determine the CR,
Roll a second d20 to determine what table to use based upon the Dungeon level!
now, about that 98 results - You get Two Monster encounters for the price of one (Roll twice and ignore a results of 98+ if it is rolled again)
So here is a second monster roll for the Left Chamber
Monster Type: 1d100 ⇒ 57
So the left Chamber has a Group of Animals, and a Magical Beast (both CR 6, added up that makes a CR 9 encounter I think???)

Nope, just a CR 8, but 2 CR 6 plus 2 CR 5 = 8,000 xp, so halfway between a CR 9 and a CR 10. On the plus side, it's mostly groups, so, theoretically we could end up with tons of low level mobs with low will saves... We probably should have gone back upstairs though...

The monkeys will be hard to represent on a map, and I hope to "flex" the rules a bit to allow them to swarm at characters with minor claw and bite attacks. Will that be alright with everyone? Basically I will model a medium sized monkey token to represent 2 to 5 actual small monkeys
I'll check in on Berenwyr if he doesnt check in today

I think there's a spell call mad monkeys or something like that, might want to look at that. it's a swarm type thing. Although i am not sure you want an actual swarm, but something like a lot of monkeys? Swarms carry special rules. They suck if you don't have AOE. They suck if you are a rogue and depend on sneak attack to get damage.

I assumed you'd use primate, swarm, monkey (monkey swarm). Alternatively, for lots of small enemies, I like to make "faux swarms" that still have swarm traits but can make combat maneuvers, AoOs, and attack vs AC instead of just doing damage. You can make one or more "blobs" and just shape them however you need without managing individual creatures.

| Terquem |
You'll be able to attack "them" (rolling against the AC of an individual baboon) but if you roll enough damage, you may injure more than one baboon.
However, I want to be able to attack you with more than one or two baboons without getting into arguments about AoO and that kind of thing as the baboons come piling on toward you
