Aaaand there's a buff for everyone. XD Also a distraction - Fluffy isn't a very good fighter thanks to the reduced progression, but it ought to be able to duck a few blows and distract them, at least.

DM intervention needed. Going back over the black blade, it's senses are 30' all around. This does not mention if it requires the equivalent of sleep. I went to the page about intelligent items and it said to treat them like Constructs. Constructs do not need sleep, food, or water. It should be able to keep watch all night as well though its bonus is only +1. Also, since level 4, it gained Int 12 and thus a rank in Knowledge Arcana and a bonus language. The language says its DM discretion.
So does it sleep and what new language should it have now?

Senses of 30 feet actually makes for a pretty bad guard. One of us will almost certainly notice enemies before they get that close.
Dante Florence
One more roll between us and party wipe from Coup De Grace is always a good thing.
Dante Florence
Oh god no. +1 is awful. I was asking so it could stand guard as well. Certainly not as the only guard.
GM Mercy
According to the rules I'm looking at the Black Blade doesn't gain Int 12 until you are level 5.
Treating the Blade like a construct definitely implies no sleep required, I'm fine with that. However, given that you guys are probably sleeping in tents and the Black Blade's senses say:
"A black blade is aware of everything around it like a creature that can see and hear."
(Emphasis mine).
I interpret this to mean that it has effectively "normal" senses as per a human. Thus nighttime affects it normally, as does being inside a tent while it's wielder sleeps. I suppose a hearing-based roll at a slight penalty would still be appropriate, though. However, how are you calculating its bonus? Its Wisdom while you are lvl 4 is 7, so it should have a Perception of -2?

Sure - looks great for me, because I'm going to AFK for a day or two over the weekend, an now no-one will ever know ;P

Regarding Buffs.
I assumed they would be down, so I hadn't put them in the profile. Longest is 8 hours.
Putting a bit more thought in.
As they set off for the day he'll cast False Life, which should last until they camp again.
After this, he'll cast his last False Life just before they got to sleep.

As a heads up to everybody in all of my games, I will be having a drastic schedule change for the summer.
I am no longer working a normal 9-5 job (don't worry I didn't get fired, it was an internship position that ended), and instead will be only working on the weekends. I will not be able to post at all most weekends, expect maybe some quick posts late at night. During the week I should be able to post very often, perhaps not quite as much later in the day.
Also I will be spending quite a bit of the upcoming summer doing some world traveling, which will mean frequent vacations where I will most likely not be posting. I will let everybody know when I will be gone. Speaking of which, I will be gone this Monday through Wednesday. I can possibly sneak some quick posting in at night, but I wouldn't count on much.
However as a general note, my posting amount should generally increase since I will have a lot of free time during the week.
Thank you everybody for your understanding, and happy gaming!

Alright guys, hate to do this but I've been having some issues on this end. Due to idiocy on my part, I full-deleted one of the more detailed maps/graphics I made for this section of the game. I also don't think I'll have time to recreate that map for a few days, given that I'm out of town for a wedding this weekend.
I'm going to have to put us on hiatus for a few days while I get stuff sorted out. Hopefully I'll find the time before the weekend to recreate the map and we can be back in business by monday, but I can't promise that will be the case. I'll do my best.
Apologies for the delay!
Tyrus Regulus Veneficius
Thanks for the heads up. I've had similar problems myself before, so full sympathy.
Look forward to continuing on whenever you are ready.
Timm Tones
Hi guys! I will be stepping out of the game. Have fun! GM, thanks for having me and I apologize for leaving. Would you please be so kind to put me on the inactive list? Thanks!
GM Mercy
New post up. Would any of the players like to take over Timm's character for the duration of this adventure? We'll write him out afterwards (and possibly I'll throw you some other sort of emergency healing ability to make up for his absence, as I know that was going to come in handy).
I will take control of Timm if necessary, but it'd be easier if another PC does it.
Luca Wistor, the Void Caller
Chuck Starknives - which run off Charisma, apparently - and cast buffing/healing spells. Starknives can be used to Disarm or Dirty Trick foes on successful attacks. It shouldn't be very hard to figure out once you start using it. ^^
Tyrus Regulus Veneficius
I'd say I can do it, but I don't really have the character's "Voice" in my head.
I could run him in combat, not sure how well I could roleplay him.
Is there an excuse to have him leave?
Luca Wistor, the Void Caller
Decide after we get back to town that he just doesn't feel he meshes with our group, and rather than trusting his life to us, he'd rather move on? (Luca has that creepy vibe going.)
Or, as an Inquisitor, his deity/church calls him somewhere. Pretty easy explanation to use whenever you want.
GM Mercy
I'm less concerned about anybody roleplaying him than somebody rollplaying him, if you get my meaning. I was gonna let you guys keep him around for the sake of combat healing and another sword hand. No talking necessary, just steer him around. If nobody feels like that's necessary, it's the work of a moment to simply kill him off the next time a fight rolls around. ;)
If he lives to the end of the adventure, I was intending to have him simply pull a "restless wanderer" and take his leave from you to do his own thing.
Tyrus Regulus Veneficius
I can steer him round.
Might be good if he took the brunt, though. He's sort of an NPC, and that means he messes with party spotlight balance a bit.
Alternatively, we could see if someone wants to play him in recruitment. He's not done much yet, so could be rebuilt fairly extensively (really only needs the race and name)
Luca Wistor, the Void Caller
I'm just hoping we can keep a healer somehow. XD I mean, I kind of specialize in disposable meat-shields... but there's a limit to everything, y'know?
Tyrus Regulus Veneficius
There's some arcane spells I was looking to get for Tyrus that'll help.
Also, I'd though about taking Signature Skill for Heal next level. That'd mean when he treats deadly wounds people also recover as if they'd rested for a full day.
Not sure how that interacts with "equal to 2 for each character level, plus half their CON modifier (round up) times their character level." and "half this is stressed". At a minimum I think it'd mean getting normal treatment (level + Tyrus int mod) + (level +con mod/4)
And he can do it twice. So in theory they could heal (level x 5 + 10 + 1.5xcon), and at level 4, con 14, would get 33HP per day.
We can also look at crafting Troll Styptics, though as they cost 100gp, they'd take a LONG time to craft.
GM Mercy
It's been interesting having you guys carry on without magical healing so far. I get bored of the old "box of bandaids cleric" in every party. However, as you get up in level and the challenges get deadlier, it certainly wouldn't hurt to have access to quick healing.
I'm not keen to do another recruitment so soon, but there are lots of other options we can look at. Tyrus easily has the alchemical ability to create healing potions (and I've been thinking up some lower cost, heal-over-time versions that I might decide to make the more common version in this world). There are spells he could take or research new spells.
It's something I'm thinking about.
Kienyach
Well there's always the infernal healing route we could go down.
At high enough levels, summoners can become healers via summoned good outsiders that have healing spells.
If somebody has UMD trained we can get wands.
Luca Wistor, the Void Caller
*Coughs*
Normal summoners, yes. Luca, not so much. (Her Void Caller list switches out the normal summons for a set of Aberrations. Plenty of weird stuff, especially once she hits level 7 and really starts to take off, but not much healing to be found. It's probably a weaker list than the normal one, all things considered, but that also fits this game. XD)
I can eventually pick up CLW on Fluffy, though. Alas, that can't happen until Level 8 at the earliest, given her halved progression, and even then it'll be 1/day for awhile. XD Also, the Egregore is a good healer, but that's not until Summon Monster VII.
Luca Wistor, the Void Caller
I feel like Blood Healing (from Liber Vampyr) would be a funny feat for Tyrus to have, given his Bloatmage feat. Alas, that's a whole subsystem and it doesn't really interact with him. XD
Godless Healing is interesting and amusingly thematic, but only works on yourself.
On the bright side, Luca's basically free on feats from now on, and I'd be happy to dump that into one or more healing options for the party. What I think would be most useful is something that can be used on any member of the group, so "personal" healing is probably out...
Maybe a modification of the Void Caller Archetype? Swapping out, say, Life Link, Maker's Call, and Transposition in return for Channel Energy (as a cleric of the same level)?
