From a pragmatic standpoint, yes. But if we're being pragmatic then we should just kill them all and take their caves already.

For Olivia, fighting them to recover the captured foragers and leaving them alive is the most good she can do, even if it means living with the consequences of making enemies. The troglodytes don't know our camp's location and we can aways just relocate away from their caves. If the troglodytes ally with the hobgoblins and go out of their way to attack us, thats when we'd have a reason to kill them, not now.

This is just my opinion of how my character would act, of course.

I find it pretty cool that we're havint this whole discussiion in first place, I think it really reflects some of the moral dilemmas of being at war, many groups would probably just see the caves as another dungeon to crawl and the troglodytes as experience bags to collect. Props to the GM and the group.

Sorry I've been so busy this week. I've managed to get a house viewing. offer, inspection, and mortgage setup, as well as sold one of our vehicles after showing it 4-5 times this week. Tonight and this weekend are going to be similarly busy, but I should be back to posting on Monday at the latest.

How strong is Yorc? would he be able to bear the load if we tied one end of the rope to him (and possibly to a rock as well to brace it) so we could climb down? I assume a centaur is not going to be making it down into the pit no matter what we do, so leaving him here holding the rope might be a good way to go.

Yorc would be able to hold the rope and brace well enough on his own. And ya, he isn't going down there, not exactly the climbing type.


I'll update the game tomorrow with Yorc being the ropes anchor, using the pitons as a secondary anchor setup. Work is currently eating into me free time, so sorry for the posting rate.


Sorry for the delay, I tried to down load microsoft excel and it cannibalized my Libreoffice and also won't accept the product key. Due to this I can't access some files I wold otherwise be using so thats taken up some time.


@Everyone - I just want to point out that for Alezandu to descend 30 feet he would have needed to make a double move action and make an accelerated climb check (which he would auto-pass). Because of this he either had to drop the bow on the ground topside or drop it down the pit since storing a weapon is a move action.

Just figured I would bring it up so and ask to be a bit more careful with your action economy. Its easy to catch stuff like this at the table, but it makes things a bit of a mess in PbP to adjudicate.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to be very busy over the next month. I am away this weekend starting tomorrow evening for a funeral, the following weekend I take possession of our new house. Then we are spending two weeks to renovate it before moving in.

Bit of a status update. My wife and I are cruising along with the home renovations, but its looking like my week nights are pretty much full until March 24 to make sure we get everything done and get our stuff packed before moving.

DM, now that I'm high enough level to get an animal companion, how do you want to handle its actions? Will it be a basically separate entity that Alezandu has to command with tricks, or should I just assume it does what he wants and describe its actions in my posts?


As long as you have a +11 bonus for Handle animal (including the +4 for your animal companion) then I don't care as long as its actions could likely fit into the list of tricks that it knows. The +11 bonus means you will always make the DC 12 check to handle an injured animal.

You just need to add 1 rank to handle animal then its basically another character. Just try to keep its actions reasonable for an animal.

Actually, it looks like there's an FAQ that companions start out knowing their max number of tricks, so I'll go by that unless you say otherwise.
