So, I'd like to stick with the same character, with no template. Cavalier 1 / Bard 2.

Quick question: Would you be going for the Battle Herald prestige class? I've wanted to see that played for quite some time now.

Dark Archive

@ DBoyC83: A valid concept, thank you. I'll let you know what I decide (see "@ Everyone," below).

@ Jonasty1031: The gunslinger's class features will work as written, including the free firearm.

@ Everyone: I think I'll have made a decision on the PC roster by Friday afternoon/evening (tomorrow), which will give everyone time to make their builds "official" over the weekend.

Regarding Hit Points:
To those of you working your builds out to the last detail, hit points are being handled for PCs the same way they are handled for NPCs and monsters, by RAW. Your first class Hit Die is maximized. Subsequent Hit Die are set at a literal average, with fractional hit points rounded off.

The "average" hp on a d6 is 3.5 hp.
The "average" hp on a d8 is 4.5 hp.
The "average" hp on a d10 is 5.5 hp.
The "average" hp on a d12 is 6.5 hp.

Thus, a 3rd level gunslinger (for example) with a Con score of 12, putting his favored class benefits toward hp would have 27 hp (10 + 5.5 + 5.5 + 3 Con + 3 favored class).

Yes! She'll be Cav 1 / Bard 4 / Herald X.

Anything beyond that will be more Cavalier.

Garden Tool: Thanks for the answers, that helps iron things out for me. I'll start getting my equipment list put together although I'll probably wait to see if I'm accepted to completely finish it. But if you want/need to know for your selection process, I will at least have my weapons and armor selected.

Hello! May I present an Elf Magus with a difference/twist?

She's already at 3rd level and ready to start dancing and swinging her sword. :)

Hope the character intrigues your good self. *Bows*

Much cheers to ye and yours. (^_^)

Dark Archive

@ Sunny: Is the "twist" the two levels of barbarian?

Also, where's the riding dog come from? Is it just a companion purchased from your starting wealth budget?

Lastly, I assume "island elf" is just "elf," mechanically speaking?

The Riding dogs are purchased with starting moneys and controlled with her animal handling skill.

I'd like to be using the 'Vanilla' Aquatic Elf as detailed in the 'Inner Sea World Guide' Page; 25

If'n you don't mind.

Actually the twist is the Titan Mauler and her swinging her Elven Curved-blade one handed. (^_^)

Much cheers to ye and yours.

Dark Archive

@ Sunny: Gotcha. The aquatic elf is acceptable, and the build looks sturdy. We may have one magus on board already (unless Shisumo goes monk/paladin), and one potential player (Dennis Harry) sporting a barbarian/rogue. That said, Dennis may lean more toward "skills" than toward "smash," and a barbarian/magus paired with a monk/paladin would do a pretty good job of holding the front lines together, and offer, between them, both arcane and divine support.

I'll let you (and everyone else) know what I decide sometime on Friday.

*Bows* Thank'e for your time and consideration. (^_^)

Mainly the character is going to go complete Magus and the barbarian levels were a kind of 'dip' to begin with.

Much cheers to ye and yours.

@ Exocrat: Looks good, at a glance. The camel should know eight tricks, though; should it not? Six from an Intelligence score of 2, plus two bonus tricks by virtue of being a first-level animal companion?

No, animal companions get one bonus trick at first level: Animal Companions

I was planning on building an alias and simply posting under the alias but I know for my Vampire game I requested a specific format to make it easier for me to scan and approve characters. Is there a particular format you would like to see for the character mechanics Garden Tool?

Dark Archive

@ Exocrat: Gotcha. I thought it started at two, but you are correct.

@ Dennis Harry: As long as all the information is accounted for and easily navigable on the character profile, I have no formatting requirements. I would like each player to use an alias with a matching profile picture, however.

One thing that I seem to be missing: Are we using the optional rules of Traits and Hero Points?

@Garden:
Thanks for the feedback Garden, I'm gonna slowly piece together the ranger over the course of tonight and tomorrow. I liked you're other DM Pbp, in fact I was using yours as an example to my current Pbp DM, fyi.

Dark Archive

@ FireclawDrake: Yes to traits (from the specified sources only), no to Hero Points.

@ DBoyC83: Thanks! That's very flattering.

Good call on asking about traits FireclawDrake!

Im almost done the crunch. Just have a handful of coins to spend and to rewrite background a touch.

Sorry I missed ALOT of posts. I have been doing so much pen to paper fleshing out, I missed a Bit.

It seems a few people have been worrying about building around my Blaster wizard. I can put your concerns to bed now.

I have had some feedback in that char creation thread. Basically the char is a Wizard and will play like a typical wizard. The char creation rules for this game mean I had to make some changes.

DM Garden Tool is not allowing Humans of Golarion which means the Burning Arc spell is out :( Unless PFSRD spells are allowed but I doubt it

At the level we start Magic Missile is his go to blast.
Remember guys, he can't cast ANYTHING spontaneously until he gets Preferred Spell at Char level 7. Even then the ONLY spont spell he has will be fireball (Though it will be bloody powerful when he can use it)

Beyond that he'll blast when he can, but he's still a genius so not gonna blow the team up. Glitterdust etc, will still make the roster.

GM Check the Avatar. he'll be up a to your spec in an hour or so.

Garden Tool, regarding the traits. Do we have to take them? I know some GM's require traits to be taken and wanted to find out if they were optional or not. Might take some but haven't decided yet.

Ok Syndir is ready to go pending approval.

@ STR Ranger - I think some of us were getting ahead and planning on future levels with some of that talk about balancing, covering weaknesses and what not. You'll be a 'master blaster' before too long indeed.

Why would you not want to take traits? They're straight buffs, no drawbacks. The benefit is minor, but it is a benefit.

Is it because of the flavor text?

Dark Archive

@ STR Ranger: No spells outside of the sourcebooks listed in the original post will be considered; you are correct.

@ Jonasty1031: Interesting question... I guess I'd prefer if you went ahead and selected your traits (two per PC). Leaving them out would be kind of like leaving a feat slot open. Also, if I were a PC companion of yours, it'd make me a tad upset if I died because my companions were deliberately under-equipped or missing character resources.

Do you have something against traits? If so, just pick a couple of simple, forgettable, "small, static skill bonus" traits, record them, and then forget about them.

@ Stiehl9s: Syndir looks good, but I have a question. You appear to be a Tetori, but you have both Snake Style (a really excellent feat) and Snapping Turtle Style? Are you aware that you can't use those together unless you are a Master of Many Styles?

Good catch Garden Tool! Much appreciated.

Let me check that out and make a change...

Dropped Snapping Turtle and picked up Improved Initiative.

Feww!

THAT took awhile.

Str Ranger Here.

Sunji the Blaster Wizard is finished (except for gotta add his attacks with weapons.)

Gear- DM can you check the gear is ok? Specifically the Hippogriff?

Annd I'm done for today (I'll add the attack rolls tomorrow)

Good Luck Everyone!!

Oh believe me, nothing against Traits. I guess I just find that they can feel tacked on sometimes and I hadn't thought through which ones I would take. I'll definitely take them, just wondering if you had specific thoughts for them or wanted us to take certain ones.

Here is Farid Heydar. Need to pick a second trait and equipment but other than that I believe he is done.

I'm gonn start building Ash in 30 min. Had to unwind with dinner after work.

@Garden Tool Question regarding traits, because I'm an elf can I stack Warrior of old, +2 trait bonus to init. And Reactionary, also a +2 trait bonus to init.?

Ash Windfinder wrote:

Both of those are classed as trait bonuses, so they don't stack by RAW.

Thanks Exo!

Ok Garden Tool. I have finished the statblock minus picking my skills, one character trait, and the fully fleshed appearance. I'll finish up tomorrow morning/afternoon.

Things to note:
Avoid reading too in-depth on the Class Features, I put them on the profile this way as a quick reference.

Wealth and Encumbrance are in the Equipment section

My apologizes for the lack of a back story with Ash, but after submitting Shadow, I was a little burnt out. I will add to back story if you think it will make a difference in accepting Ash's submission.

Updated, Sunji a bit.

I'm just dropping off a short note that even though I don't really have time to add another game, this has been a very enjoyable thread to read. Great posters and great characters. 8) Thank you! And I hope that you don't mind an audience. ;)

*Laughs* (^_^) T'is all-a-ways more fun dancin' to an audience!

I think I need to look at my skill point allocation again, I may have put in the wrong attribute bonus on my dexterity related skills.

The sun darkened man stood with feet planted and his arms folded behind his back.

Well I can say with certainty that meeting you all has been a pleasure. What should we do with this new partnership? Rescue a fair maiden? Guard a caravan? Track down an evil necromancer and slay his zombie horde? Or plunder some long forgotten, dark god's temple? Truth to tell the last two sound more promising but anything that takes us from here is preferable.

Wow Syndir, I liked your post and decided to give your profile a read through. Very nice backstory!

Today's selection day! Ooh the anticipation.

Much appreciated Jonasty1031

I havent seen a Gunslinger in play yet. They look scary though! I like that both of our charcaters are on the run so to speak. Your pirate from a crime he didnt commit and my monk from the shame of one he did.

Looking forward to hearing the roll call today!

Yeah the character backgrounds mesh somewhat nicely. "I'll help you hide if you help me hide."

Gunslingers are pretty interesting although they can be a pain in the ass. I'm running a RL game and one of my PC's is a Gunslinger. When he's close enough to the target, it's pretty frustrating cause hitting vs Touch AC is almost guaranteed.

Granted Garden Tool please ignore everything I just said, Gunslingers are totally underpowered and easy to have in a group. :-D

So Syndir and the Gunslinger are on the run while my character is searching for someone. Seems like a common thread of starting over again is similar to these three characters.

Compared to the Kelishite the tall, sun bronzed Elven lass seemed designedly under dressed. Naught but a simple canvas shirt strung together by a few buttons and an equally bare skirt wrapped about her hips. across her chest a leather strap holds the scabbard of the great sword across her back. To either side sit large dogs, big enough for one of the smaller folk to ride, their tongues panting in the day's heat.

"Hey-YA there an' well met!" She grins and waves a tanned arm to Syndir.

"Aye, an' yer ideas seem wonderful an' full of merit. Why dunt we retire t'wards yon tavern an' discuss such options, hey?" She asks him with a wink.

My my, everyone is excited, happy friday all

Very astute Farid. New beginnings all around.

Heres a compiled list of applicants. Please forgive any mistakes or misses. Mostly going with completed concepts and aliases.

Farid Heydar - human Barbarian/Rogue (Dennis Harry)
Sunny - elven Titan Mauler Barbarian/Magus (Sunset)
Seamus Haggrathy - human Mysterious Stranger Gunslinger (Jonasty1031)
Syndir Apep - human Tetori Monk/Dragonic Sorceror (Stiehl9s)
Sunji Suzuki - human Crossblooded Sorceror/Evoker (STR Ranger)
Ash Windfinder - elven Ranger (DBoyC83)
Cala Thanstrom - human Bard/Cavalier (Exocrat)
Jelani Guldis - half elf Diviner/Cleric of Nethys (FirclawDrake)
TBD - (Shisumo)

Syndir smiled at the elven lady even as a long dormant and highly unwanted thought slid through his mind at the sight of much exposed flesh...ah...ssssuccelent and vibrant...a feassst...

He crushed the thought with emptiness.

A cool drink sounds delightful and refreshing. Plus it makes for good business. All our welcome to join.

He gestured towards the indicated tavern.

Shall we?

So many names that start with S!

Yeah that would drive me a bit nuts trying to use abbreviations on a battlegrid. If I'm accepted, maybe I'll have to come up with a suitably pirate-y nickname that doesn't start with S, to make things easier.

@Jonasty1031

Yeah something like Haggard the horrible.

Hmm, nice but the gnomes of House Copyright might bludgeon me in my sleep. ;-)

Dark Archive

Good morning, folks.

@ STR Ranger: A good build, but the orc bloodline and the Orcs of Golarion sourcebook are not available for this campaign.

@ Dennis Harry: Looks like a skill monkey, primarily. Nice job; you're a strong contender. A question: why Great Fortitude (instead of Iron Will, or maybe just Diehard)?

@ DBoyC83: Very nice, very complete, and one of only two ranged builds submitted.

@ Fredrik: Thanks! You're welcome to spectate. In fact, spectators will be welcome in the discussion thread once we get started, as long as they don't dominate it.

@ Stiehl9s: Grim backstory, and could probably tie into Farid's...

@ Everyone: Thanks for all the participation and submissions, everyone. I'm going to be putting together a roster soon. Tempting as it is to break the "4-5" players rule, I'm going to restrict myself to five. Results will go up soon. Stay tuned.
